Go Grungy

Over at PanPastelUK this week, they have a theme of 'go grungy'. The background is a piece of corrugated coloured in eggplant, south Pacific and tikka fresco paints. Die cut leaf stems, LP images, wooden tag and frame work die stamped with script. Main LP image is stamped in royal purple stazon on an orange coloured piece of card which has been brayered.

Corrugated Tag

Over on the PaperPlay Forum we have a tag theme of leaves for this month. I used various shades of green frescos to colour all the elements, stamped the main LP image over the heart, added script to the leaf stem and the banner piece and an EV sketchy stamp to the background, all in black stazon.

Silence

This was a WIP Atc, as you can see on her nose, it's not dry properly and she has wrinkles from the mod podge where she was stuck on. Images stamped on crackly tissue paper and painted in frescos from the back.

Once completely dry I tided it up, added some Dylusions flicks of white spray ink and finished the edges in a red sharpie pen.

Dream a Dream

Alison's second project over on this weeks PA blog was all about tags and a canvas which you can see here.  As I didn't have a square canvas I used a piece of 8 x 8 mdf instead.  I coloured it with mocha mousse fresco, added some TH tissue wrap and put grunge paste through the ledger stencil.

I stamped various images with saddle brown and pumpkin stazon onto tissue paper and covered some wooden buttons.

I stamped the feathers and main image onto cream ribbed card.  I painted the background in a wash of nougat fresco and edged with mocha mousse which I also used on the tags and main image to bring it all together.  Added the buttons, tags, piece of die cut lace and the word dream.

A vintage tag

There's a new tag challenge started last Thursday called Tag Along, and you all know how much I love my tags.  They had a theme of vintage for their first challenge.

Also PanPastelUk have a theme of spots and dots and if you look carefully you'll see I have dots as one of my many layers.

Country View Crafts have a new challenge theme today which is layers and I have lots and lots of layers on this tag.  Firstly lots of colours of PA fresco paint layers, snowflake, Irish cream, nougat, French roast and mushroom.  Next the circles stencilled in Frech Roast, then a whitewash of snowflake to knock them back a bit and finally a layer or script stamped in timber brown stazon.

The image and the music script is covered in a layer of ice resin and the image is framed in a photo mount coloured with French roast paint housing a piece of card cut from T!m's lace strip die.  Pom-pom lace and gems added to finish the frame.

***Edited***

I wasn't happy with my first effort, as it just looked like the frame had been plonked on the tag.  So I went back in with a white ink pad and stamped some script over the flourishes and the frame.  Also added oxynite treasure gold to the trimmings so they didn't look so stark.  Think it blends in much better now - am a happy bunny again!!!

Take Time

Frances second project on the PA blog which you can see here is all about time.  I covered a piece of chipboard with T!m's tissue paper, coloured it with hey pesto fresco paint and when dry used the Tando cogs stencil with grunge paste.

Once dried, I coloured the cogs with the green shades of portfolio pastels and smudged them with my finger.  I also added zesty zing, limelight and smoked paprika fresco to the background.

Using the tiny circles stencil and the darkest green portfolio I added some circles to the bottom corner.

I die cut the weathered clock from chipboard and slapped some grunge paste on.

Once dried I coloured it in French roast and then I mixed some pewter with hey pesto and sponged that over the top.  Once dry, I sanded back as France did on the heart on project one.

Added the T!m strip die flowers, along with a bit of black portfolio pastel to the cogs to further distress them, stamped over them in black stazon and stamped the quote from Clocks #3.  Onyxite treasure gold was applied to the clock hands and frame edges.

Simon Says Stamp Monday have a theme of make the cut, so I'm entering with this piece.

Wow, this make was spotlighted on the Simon Says Challenge above!!

Memories

Another frame and shadow box this time created with the cabinet and mini cabinet dies and the movers and shapers book plate die.  I painted the frame in gold, added crackle glaze and painted over with black.  I tried it the opposite way round on the book plate, but it didn't work!!

The white sides are die cut from the vintage lace decorative strip.  The main image is from darkroom door and stamped in black stazon onto kraft card.

This is a close up of the gold crackle showing through the black.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge are asking for things with wings this week.

Topaz Postcard

I decided to make a postcard using topaz colours which I've interpreted as orangey browns, as the Out of a Hat Creations challenge of birthstones is running for 2 weeks over the Christmas period.

The background is a piece of core card run through a texture fade embossing folder and then sanded to reveal more of the underneath colour.  The fabric piece was created a while ago and if you want to how check back here.  The flower from the tattered flowers decorative strip was also cut from the core card and assembled using a brad.  A piece of ric rac ribbon was added to finish.

Scary Mary

Stampotique are sponsoring this weeks Wicked Wednesday Atc challenge.  The theme is wing it.  The background is a piece from my recent gelli plate class.  I stamped 'scary mary', this isn't her real name, but that's what I like to call her and coloured her in with distress markers and a water brush.  I used a piece of T!m's lace to decorate the top of the atc which I again coloured with distress markers.

Liquid Leaf Stampotique Tag

The puff paint and texture paste has really taken well on this tag.

It's been coloured with white fire liquid leaf.

I coloured the other side of the tag with pewter lumiere paint.

A close up.

Stampotique Moth Fab image added from a previous sample using distress ink markers.  Also added a tattered flower, again another previous sample, together with a piece of TH film strip ribbon and a mini arrow.

Anything But A Card - Texture

Over at Anything But A Card (ABAC) this week they are asking to see texture, so I decided to make another box using the flowers I'd made earlier in the week.

I made the box from my new Sizzix die (box candy drawer) using chipboard and then running through a couple of different colours of chocolate box core card.  I needed to use the crease plate for these as they were much thinner than the chipboard.

Once cut, I put them through the Cuttlebug stylized flowers embossing folder and sanded to lift off the brown and reveal the pinky / purple core colour.

I added a T!m idea-o-logy hitch fastener and a distressed flower to the front of the drawer to make a handle.

A view from the side.

And finally with the drawer open.

Tattered Flowers

These are some of the flowers I've created with my new TH Tattered Flower Garland decorative strip die which Rach0113 inspired me to get (along with lots of other things!!) when she shared her recent haul.

I then took them outside in the (don't faint) sunshine, and although there is lots of shade, you get a truer colour.

One thing I will do different next time I make some is sand off the card before running it through the die, I lost a few petals sanding afterwards!!!
