Oriental Tag

I've got a couple of days off and wanted to play oriental as I've not done so for ages! The background tag is brayered, a die cut was added to the top and some red fibres.

This is one oriental stamp, I stamped it twice and cut four pieces out and mounted them on 3d foam over the relevant squares and added a bit of colour with a red pitt pen.

PaperArtsy have a theme of grids and squares.

Journal Page Play

Been playing again with magazine and collage pages making up images, but wanted to do something different this time and do the writing in a colour. I still ended up adding a black and white just to help define it more.

And using my new Zig pens I did a lot more doodling on these pages with them. There is only one problem with them so far, when using a white sharpie over the top of them, the white turns a paler shade of the colour you are writing over. So I used silver on the left hand side page.

A Trio of Teesha Tags

After watching Patti Tolley Parrish's You Tube stream which you can see here, I just had to have a go at the first part of the tag and this is what I ended up with. If you just want to see the technique you need to go about an hour in.

And then I had a play with some Teesha Moore and magazine images to create this tag.

And more of the same.

And the final one, again using the Teesha images.

Did you spot the common denominator in them all?

Had great fun making these and building the images up.

Last Two Art Journal Pages

More magazine pages used to create the border and the characters. Background is lime Dylusions paint. I also did a bit of doodling around the edges.

I added a couple of accessories, some writing and a few more doodles.

Border created with stamped images on various papers. The collage is stamped fabric images sewn together.

Close up of the sewn pieces of stamped fabric.

More close ups using the zig zag stitch.

I drew loads and loads of black circles to fill in the painted space and then put a white dot in the middle of each one.

Now I just have to make my covers so I can bind them and put my book together.

A Couple More Art Journal Pages

For this one I created a very deep border using stamped images on paper and fabric and added 5 of the same main image and an odd one to the right.

And outlined everything with a black smudgy pencil.

Red Dylusions and then created a border using only words cut out from magazines.

Played around with some images.

Finally stuck everything down and then................

added some writing and some doodling. Whilst we were away at the James weekend we had various attempts at different styles of writing. I did the lower case non joined up for this one!

More Art Journal Pages

Another Andy Warhol style page using 'spare' images from my James weekend.

Another of my gelli print pages.

More Lynne Perrella stamped images using black stazon.

Mounted onto a piece of card painted with multi coloured edges.

Some parts from the images were outlined in white Posca pen.

The white heart is outlined in white Posca pen.

The border for this page was created using strips from magazine pages along with the pieces to create the main image.

I added some writing and did a bit of doodling to finish this page off.

Bottles Up!!!

After a rummage around in the glass recycling box I rescued this maple syrup bottle for the challenge over on PaperArtsy this week.

Gave it a coat of chalky paint, wasn't sure how this would stick but it was fine.

Several coats of paint later and after some stenciling, this is the front.

Added a symbol from a stencil on the back mixing raw umber media paint with white modeling paste and before adding the string which was coloured with gathered twigs distress stain, I gave the bottle a couple of coats of ultra matte medium varnish.

Black & White Tags

For some reason my black soot distress ink has gone a blue/grey over the white chalky paint. Anyhow, not to worry it's a shade of black. I used tissue tape, stamped with Finn stamps and the main image is a silhouetted woman from the Dina set with a few more scribbles. Did a bit of flicking with the black and white DecoArt mister sprays.

Painted the tag white, then a layer of weathered wood crackle and a layer of black chalky paint. White modeling paste through a stencil and then a piece of corrugated painted white and a hint of black on the rises and edges. I added some washi tape that Chris had kindly sent me. Stamped the butterfly on black card and heat embossed in white wow powder.

All mediums and paints are from the DecoArt range.
