I've made considerable progress since you last saw this. Quite frankly its looked liked this for about 3 weeks now as I have worked on other things.
Above you can see I have started on the chaosing of the Mumak, adding horns where there should not be any. The Mammoth is he, but obviously the Chaos Gods are mean. And this time I wanted some battle scars.
The sculpted howdah wood grain is all out of Apoxie Sculpt laid over plastic.
I'll be adding many more chaos symbols.
Above is some blended in Nurgle like stuff going on. The red and blue sharpie layouts are notes to myself as I'm going for different effects and fur line.
I was going to have third platform, but it just did not look quite right so the back will likely have a bunch of chains hanging down.
It continues........

Progress on the War Mammoth Howdah
I chose Apoxie Sculpt for doing the wood grain on the Howdah. Main reason for this is that it stays workable much longer than Green Stuff.
Side and front shots of the wood grain. I think its turning out very good. A week ago I probably could not have done this, but my hands this week are much more stable, less shaky, and my dexterity is coming back.
Only a bunch more planks to go, a few hours and it should be complete. I've sketch out a bunch of stuff on the mammoth and will start a few things on it also using a mix of different putties.

A new Chaos War Mammoth in WIP
So, back into the closet we go....and we find a LotR Mummak. So next project is create a new Chaos War Mammoth, this time for my mutant marauder chaos army. Above is the assembled howdah for the mammoth. Not sure I will keep the back slide piece yet, may move that, or create a lower platform.
Will have to work on the positioning. Below is a frontal view.
Could slide forward a bit. I think the cardboard cutout was further forward.
Everything will be covered with a sculpted wood grain and of course chaos icons. Still a work in progress....

Old Stuff Wednesday - January... War Mammoth Conversion
Back a few years ago, someone in Canada commissioned me to do a Chaos War Mammoth conversion using using a Lord of the Rings War Mumak.
This is one of the bigger conversions that I have worked on. I went through a lot of GS doing up the fur on the mammoth. I remembered struggling with the idea of the howdah and settled for using scored plasti-card construction.
The head was some of the most fun building up the armor. I decided to use a plasticard piece to make a large flat armored piece on the head and then blended the GS in to it.
The person who commissioned the model did not want me to build a beastmaster and did not have me build any marauders to go with the model. In hindsight, I wish I would have at least build the beastmater rider. One thing with the Mumak model is the wrappings and supports and harness for the howdah is already modeled for you.
Add a bunch of spikes and chaos shields and panels. Makes for finishing off the model.
Last year I purchased another of these models for myself. Hopefully this year I will get around to converting one for myself.
