Old Stuff Wednesday - January - Beastlord or Wargor #4

Circa 2004, I introduced a fourth Wargor and sometimes Beastlord to my beastmen army.  I realized after posting the previous Wargors that I've never shown this miniature on-line before.
The model is a converted GW Mordheim Beastlord.  Its not quite as nice looking as the other Wargors that GW has sculpted, but still it is a neat looking miniature.  Definitely unique amongst the beastmen and suitably powerful looking.
The painting style was much crisper than my normal beastmen, painted in the same scheme.
The decapitated head suits Khorne well.

Old Stuff Wednesday - June - Wargor - Let There Be War 4

I never really used this model all that much in my gaming.  It is a shame as its an old OOP Wargor that has a lot of character.  I like it so much that I bought a second one and painted it up to be used in my Mutant Marauders, warriors of chaos army.

One of the many things that I like are the arm bands and wrist gauntlet.  The casting was not the best, and I did make some very subtle changes to the model.
This is one of my favorite skin tones for beastmen.  It actually starts out as GW Scorched Brown.  I also think the decapitated head turned out nice and pale, definitely drained of fluids.  What's chaos without some decpitations.
Until next time....cuz I have Old Stuff.

Old Stuff Wednesday - April ... Wargor #3

In the previous Old Stuff Wednesdays we saw two of my other Khorne marked Wargors.  This one came a couple years later, Wargor #3, the great weapon beastman character.  I really liked this miniature, so I did not really change it up much.
I did a bit more cloth on this backside of the model with greenstuff.  My style of painting had evolved so much from when I first did a whole lot of pieces in this army.  My style got a bit more sharp and controlled.
And this is one of those miniatures that just sort of paints itself.
So there you have it, another piece from my Khorne Beastmen.

Old Stuff Wednesday - March ... Wargor ...Let there be War 2

Last month I showed the my wargor/beastlord from my 2003 Beastmen Army, this month I have his buddy. This one is only slightly converted not as converted as the previous one was, but based on the same model, basically the regular model with paint.
Below you can see the differences between the two models, even though they are based on the same model.
I was happy with the paint schemes that I used for this army, and again this was back when you could actually play the beastmen with chaos marks. So, due to my dislike of magic, I went with an all Khorne marked army and no magic.
I painted the Khorne marking on the axes. The paint scheme is, in that so-called NMM painting style (only miniature painters could come up with such ridiculous painting terms like ‘non-metallic-metal’, whatever, I feel a rant coming on that I would like to avoid at this time, it’s almost like miniature painters have an inferiority complex, so they have to make up these terms to feel more important or something).
So that is two of the 4 wargors from that army. I still love the looks of that army, I felt everything I did with it really clicked well with the exception of my Chaos Ogre unit and the Chaos Trolls. Back then I spent a lot of extra time painting the characters, more-so that the foot soldiers. Nowadays, it’s about equal as my painting speed has picked up tremendously.

Old Stuff Wednesday - February... Beastlord...Let there be War

Almost forgot to do an Old Stuff Wednesday this month, but I didn't.  So this month we have one of Beastlord / Wargor's from back in 2003 or so.  One of my favorite models from my tabletop beastmen army. I wanted the armor a bit heavier, to arm him with neat scratch built sword and big khorne symbol on the shield.   Back then you could mark your beastmen.
So I sculpted some add on armor.  I sculpted the Khorne symbol on a chaos warriors shield.
Added a few trophies to the back of the model.
The writing on the sword, does say something profane in the Dark Tongue, can't remember what.
And a wip shot, collage showing the conversion work.  You will need to click on the picture to see it close up.  The sword blade was made out of plasti-card.
So there, the first of four Wargors.  I really need to do this figure again for my Chaos warriors army as a mutant.  Fun miniature.
