I'm pulling a few models out of my collection and putting them up for Auction on Ebay in the Madhouse_Workshop account. I originally painted the model around 2003 for Gamesday Chicago.
Its been in storage pretty much ever since.
If you like him, you may have a chance to own him.

The Fwamin' 'Eadz Nob
Well this is another figure I started a long time ago and finally got around to finishing. A 40k Ork Nob.
The Nob is converted. I created the back pole icon out of plasti-card, sculpted the skull and flames on the shoulder and the flames above the eye. The axe is also a conversion.
Stitched wound was carved into the plastic and then sculpted the stitches. Added a Tau head, dislike those little bastards. I really like how the skin tone turned out and how the browns turned out.
The base is one of Dragon Forge's resin castings. They are very good looking basings and the castings are good. Love the buried trench works. Painting 40k models is always fun.
There you have it, my first Nob in a long long time. It was good fun, enjoyed painting it.

Old Stuff Wednesday - October...The Warboss
Hey...I'm finally back from my self-inflicted hiatus. Soon I'll be back up to speed, settling in to the new place.
Still Wednesday here in the midwest, so for Old Stuff we have an Ork Warboss that I painted several years ago. This miniature painted the same year as the Crimson Fist vs Grot from last month. I remember being quite pleased with the results, I thought the conversion worked well.

This was my first real click with painting red. When I finished the red with the helmet, I felt like I finally captured that color the way I wanted.
The grot in the little crow's nest was something that I had always thought really fit for this grot. The flesh came out well, the crow's nest I think turned out pretty decent. Lot of little scrapped bits went in to that.
I also think this the first miniature where I started understanding corrosion and use of really thinned paint washes. Not a single ink was used in this miniature, its all acrylic.
The base certainly could have been better, but that's how it goes sometimes.
So up next the start of the long awaited and promised "How I Make My Movement Trays" for fantasy and WAB. Need to work on a better title...

Blorc Nob Dwarf! Sounds like I'm cussing....
Last night I started a new project as I build a unit of Black Orcs to team with Grimgor at the head. Here is one of them. I’m using one of the 40k Nob heads, that gives him a particular vicious look. Added a “Wicked/evil” glyph riveted to his gut plate. There’ll be a number of dead empire, bretonians, and other humans through the unit.
And I did a bit more work on the TNA Nob. Thought about the whole flaming heads glyph and thought it would be cool to incorporate that on the ork head. These pictures show him on the ultra cool resin base created by Dragonforge. This is my first time of working with his bases and they are very good. And for a bit more detail, what better than a decapitated Tau. Hate those little bastards.
And for something different, I normally do not often show WIP’s of things that I paint. This Avatars of War dwarf is something I started a month ago and stopped. One day I will get back to model and finish it. Anyone that knows me knows that I really don’t like dwarves and I especially hate elves, so its really hard for me to get motivated to paint something like this. That may be why that goblin head actually turned out pretty cool. So far. For a dwarf this is a very cool sculpt, very smooth.

What a weekend. Got a bunch of work done on stuff that needs to be done for this summer. Also watched a fair amount of the NFL Draft and Talledega Races. BJ Raji is going to be an absolute beast for the Packers D-Line, and how about that Ted-haters, he trades back into the first round to get Clay Mathews outside linebacker, great picks. Then Matt Kenseth ends up on his roof in the Nationwide Race, and his teammate Carl Edwards nearly ends up in the stands in the Cup Race, spectacular finishes in both races. Anyway here are a few of the things I’m working, a plastic Nob. I have not done anything in 40k for awhile, and no I’m not going back to playing 40k anytime soon, just the opposite in fact. I’m going to get into Warhammer Ancients and maybe Field of Glory, playing historicals, but that is for another time. This Nob is for a special project that the Team North America guys are doing in a challenge and for auction. I’m sure some of you have already seen Dave Taylor’s Nob in paint, this is mine in WIP form.
And while on the topic of Gamesday Chicago, we, meaning Team North America, will once again be giving free seminars on various hobby things. So if you want to improve your skills, feel free to sit in on our seminars. Or if you want to meet myself and the others visit the Demon Lounge where we will be available to chat with and you may even be able to ask questions of us. More on that later also, as everything still is the development stages, if all goes well I and Mike Butcher will be doing a seminar on building/converting/painting armies.
Then there is this guy, that may end up being one of my entries for Gamesday Chicago. Not digging the head, but Mike “King of Nurgle” Butcher had the solution and set me a care package to fix the head problem in the form of GW Nurglings.
