Roman Cavalry Unit A - Painted

I really like the Victrix cavalry kit.  The horse are awesome, the riders are cool looking.
I really enjoyed putting these together and painting them.
I'm not big into painting horses but the Victrix horses are very cool.
The movement tray is just a left over tray from my Beastmen army, at some point I need to build some movement trays for the units, maybe.

LBMS transfers were used for the shields.

I like these so well that I sold all of my Warlord Games Cavalry that I really didn't care for.  Highly recommend this kit. More to come....

Mounted Early Imperial Roman Signifer

I converted this model from the foot EIR Victrix kits and a left over mounted Generals model.
They mate up pretty well and I think this makes a good edition to my Victrix Romans.
I definitely dig the way the horse turned out.

A couple of left over cavalry bits were also used.
More Romans to come.....

Painted Greek Archers Unit

These Victrix models are absolutely awesome.  I'm planning to use these for auxiliaries with my Roman Legions.
You can see how dynamic they are.  They practically paint themselves.
And they are glorious looking once all done.
I think they are great addition.  They will likely double for use with my upcoming Greek army that is in the works.
Much more to follow.

Painted Baelric Slingers

These are the Victrix models.  I'm going to use them as auxiliaries and skirmishers for various armies.  I also have a butt-load of Greeks that I just finished building that may get painted sometime next year.

I like these models, they are pretty cool and quite dynamic for lowly ole skirmishers.  Below is a better closeup.  They paint up quite easy.  Well thought out models.

 Much more to follow.

Victric Roman Aux. Update

Short update on the Roman unit posted not long ago, got around to basing the movement tray.

I do really like this kit.  If you have not bought them and have a Roman army, you ought to do yourself a favor and pick them up.

More to come.....

Roman Auxiliaries Finished Unit

You saw in a previous post the finished Centurion and Optio.  Well, here finally is the entire unit of the Victrix Romans.

I'm still not quite done with the movement tray, but I think the unit turned out awesome.  Victrix nailed it.
Transfers are from Little Big Men Studios, they nailed it.

The Models are real joy to paint.  I have a couple more Roman units from Victrix to do, and I'm truly looking forward to them, even though I've done probably over 200+ Romans already.
History is fun.
Let me know what you think.  More stuff to follow.  I had a great time with these.  Get up, Get out, Get after it, don't let anyone hold you back.

Painted Victrix Roman Auxiliaries - Centurion and Optio

Still working on what I showed in the last post on my desk.  I'll have an update on that very soon.  I've been busy doing some dry-walling in my house upstairs bathroom and normal work has been busy.  Little bit sidetracked with some other things.

On to this posting....So I recently put the finishing touches on a unit of Victrix Roman Auxiliaries. This is actually the first unit of auxiliaries that I've done in quite a while.  The Victrix models are very cool.  By far the best plastic Romans that I have ever worked on.

Here is a few shots of the Centurion and Optio for the unit.  Love the poses.  Do pay attention to shield and arm placement when you are working on getting these models to rank up for your units.  The next posting I'll have of these will be the entire unit.

The shield transfer is from Little Big Men Studios, you really in my opinion cannot go wrong using those transfers.

That's it for now.  I have some more stuff coming very soon.  Get out, get doing things.

Next Painted Roman Officer - Victrix Generals Kit

Yea, I do love these Victrix minis.   Really neat poses on all of the horses.
This is the second one that I have done.  Its a cool mini.  Cool pose and cape.
 Very dynamic pose.
I really enjoyed painting him.  Going be getting around to a few more of these and a couple that I'm converting for particular use.
As always more to come.

Hail to Rome....My first painted mini from the Roman Generals Kit

Wow I really love what Victrix is doing these days.  This miniature is a fine example of their great looking plastics line.  Absolutely love these models, detail is great and so are the poses and parts.  I bought the box set for characters for my current Roman armies and had some left over after the building.  Sold one still on the sprue and put together some of the others to paint and sell.  This is the first of that group that was for sale.
Painted in royal purples, not a scheme that I use very often.  I think I probably should use it more.
The horse was a fun little experiment, and I really liked how it turned out.
Basing is pretty much the same as my Vikings and Saxons and other Roman stuff that just rebased some of the older stuff, more or less just updated it.
Love this Victrix work, much better than my older Warlord stuff.  So much so that I cannot wait to get my paint brushes on some of their Vikings as well.
As always much more to follow...Rome is expanding.

WIP On the Desk: The Greek Project progress

So another weekend that I have no racing to do, next weekend.  That said I decided to work on the Greeks a bit more.  As I build, even though the kits from Victrix some good variety, is that I'm rather limited in pieces to use in building the models.  That means that there are potentially repeat poses in the force.  That has always bugged me, I like variety in appearance.  My solution so far is hair.

And lots of it.  Sort of mimicking some of the sculpting that Gorgon and Foundry have done on their Greeks.
I'll likely add a few beards also.
And below is my oracle model, which is actually named as Oracle from Megalith Games, Godslayer - Halodynes faction.
The pictures of this model on-line are splendid, but don't be fooled.  I have my work cut out for me to get this model ready for tabletop use.  The metal looks to be white metal, but is a bit soft, not quite like lead, but awfully close.
The sweeping wraps are simply a pain in the ass to get on the model.  There is no good way to attach them to the point that they will be durable for game use, and with the model be so soft, they probably would not last any ways.  So the additional drapings that are suppose to come off the wrists I will probably delete and replace with green stuff.
The model also has a crap load of flash on it, and like two or three flash lines going across the face, which is extremely odd to me.  It must have been one super poorly designed mold to do that.  I think its salvageable, but really.  I've been scoping out some of their other Halodynes, but now I'm not sure I want to bother with anything else from Megalith Games.
And above is another comparison shot of a Gorgon Spartan to a Victrix Athenian.  Kind of a funny shot with the Russian Alternative barbarian behind them.  It shows just how large the fantasy chaos like figure is in comparison to the historical miniatures.
