So after some Hate....Time for some Prayer

I've painted a number of these monks.  They are great little figures.
Lots of good character.
Nice looking gesture.
Just a super simple model to paint, that looks really good.

A few more Crusaders

My crusades stuff has not gotten much love lately, but I do have new models for it as well.
They are Conquest Miniatures.  I did have a bit of a hard time remembering some of my Holy Land blue paint scheme, but I think I found it.

Converting the Perry Crusaders

A little something that I wrote up for use by Wargames Illustrated.  Its about the time when I was crazy enough to convert some beautiful Perry Bros. miniatures in to a time period that moved along a little bit in to the future, so to speak.  Enjoy.

Back to the Holy Land - More Crusaders

Added a few more troops, mostly left over Conquest Games Normans, but also a couple of metal Gripping Beast figures in the command model and musician next to him.
Need a few more models to fill out the ranks.  I started this unit something like 5-6 years ago.  Matching the paint scheme was not easy, but was not hard either.

The guy in the middle of these three on the end is a Perry miniature painted long ago, alongside of the new guys.
Please ignore the Litko movement tray as that is just temporary at the moment.

As always more to follow......

The Cruasders get some attention

Its been awhile since this project has received any attention at all.  I had a bunch of Conquest Games Norman infantry that sat around for awhile.  I actually painted all of the metal areas on the models prior to having surgery, noted in the previous post, then finished off the color.

So you're probably like, hey I've seen those before and they are all Perry metals.  Well the bulk of them are, but you need to look closer.
There are few plastic Normans in there, the sames models, most everyone say are junk.
Are they great models, no.  Do they work yes.
As always much more to follow.....

Second batch of Crusader foot knights

This is the second batch, still needs the static grass and floc added, but basically done.  I have some spearmen already painted in the same scheme.
These are all Conquest Games plastics.  Next up some more Vikings.

My Crusades army gets some additions

I had a fairly small unit of foot for my crusades army, so I wanted to add some more models to that unit.  Most of the models, all of the ones with swords are Conquest Games plastics Normans. I still need to add the static grass and floc that you see on the Spearman, but they are basically done.
The spearman is a converted Perry model.  The model next to him with the axe is a model that I cannot remember, the axe is from the Gripping Beast plastic Viking range.
The Conquest Plastics are not the best quality plastic kit out there, the details are a bit shallow, but they are workable with a bit of effort.  Good comparisons of the metal models to the plastics shown below.

Even more to come.

A new Crusader

I have a fairly good sized batch of minis to add to my Crusader army, this is the first mini from that batch that is mostly made up of the plastic Conquest Games foot knights.
Paint scheme fits with the crusaders, just need to add all of the grass tufts to the bases and this piece will be ready to be added to the unit.
More to follow.

Conquest Games Converted Crusaders ... Last unit for Adepticon

Got back home a bit late, spent the weekend with further preparations for racing Tuesday, but the last unit that I have done for Adepticon is a fairly big unit of Conquest Games Normans that I converted up.  I've shown quite a few of the miniatures thus far, below is the entire unit.
I'm pretty happy with these guys.  I think they turned out nicely.  I'm probably going to do another unit of them and hopefully some more infantry in the future.
Their horses have really grown on me.
I blended the movement tray in with the others and with the bases of the minis.
So that is it for the Adepticon Crusader preparations.  I'll be playing in the Big Crusades Game on Friday with these guys, I'll also be playing with my Roman army on Saturday, and teamed with Mike Butcher on Sunday's WAB Team tourney, so if you are in the area swing by and say hi.

So now the rest of the week, I'm somewhat freed up.  So with that in mind I'm going to finish up two minis an Avatars of War Dwarf and a 40k Ork.  Then I'll see if I can get a Viking all done for the Adepticon Paint Contest.  I don't really expect to win anything, but you cannot win if you do not enter.  Tuesday night is open track night, and I'm excited and nervous all at once, that competition bug is calling and there is a need for speed.

The Conquest Crusaders grow

Its spring and the Crusade grows.  The following are more of my Conquest games miniatures, mostly converted.

Pic above of the shield.  Below another of the conveted Knights.  The one thing I'm noticing a bit painting the Conquest Minis is that they are easy to paint.  There is one small flaw that keeps showing up in the minatures and thats the mail sleeves are lacking a bit in depth on the molds.
Below you can see more of the horse conversion.  I also added the surcoat on this rider.
Below is the other red one, set more as a sergeant and not a knight.
I like this pose, quite cool looking for the right flank of the formation.  I'm sort of avoiding adding a bunch of crosses.
This is an interesting one.  Conquest Games makes these as Normans, and in their time period they were not known to couch their lances, used them essentially as spears.  This one I used a spear arm from my Gripping Beast's plastics and it sort of looks like a couched lance.
That's it for now, hopefully the next time you see these it will be as a full unit.

First of the Conquest Games Knights

I'm rolling them our now, this phase of the crusade is coming to an end.  Previously we had seen the pair below in WIP.  Now I have them based up and finished.
Below is the next pair of knights.  The one on the left I have converted, giving him an axe from the Gripping Beast Plastic vikings.  I think its a neat little conversion that works well.
Below a better look at the converted horses, and their cloth barding.
And a view of some freehand on the shield.
The Conquest Games stuff is nice,  and paints up fairly easy.  I look forward to seeing their long awaited infantry.

My Crusades Infantry Unit...

Well yesterday we had the meager infantry additions.  Today we have the unit thus far.   I think it looks pretty good.  Right now its at 23 models, I'm going to see if I can't squeeze a couple more before Adepticon.
I still have not gotten around to replacing the banners yet.  I will get there eventually.
Its a nice colorful unit.  The spear man in the front rank are getting excited about poking some Saracens at Adepticon.

Crusading Infantry additions...

More of the meager additions.  My Perry Miniature Infantry...it's a love - hate relationship.  I sure hope that Conquest Games releases some good looking plastics.  If you know me well, you know that a pet peeve of mine is metal miniatures, I generally dislike them.
In a lot of ways wish I would have taken the time to separate the spears from these miniatures.  The metal is so soft and one little bump bends the dug-on spear.  I like working with plastics, not this stuff.  Anyways, meager additions again.  3-more English like models, and 3 more infantry from Jerusalem.
They turned out okay for back rankers and quick paintjobs. No real conversion work, other than the use of some plastic shields without the bosses.   Hopefully next time we see these they will be with the rest of the unit.

Some more Knights...for my Crusade

My meager reinforcements for the Perry Knights.
I must have bent the legs on the one on the left, will have to fix that.  Amazing what you see wrong when you take pics.  The middle guy is actually carrying a sword from the Gripping Beast Plastic Vikings.

You cannot buy that Hospitaller like that from the Perry's, its a shame too.  Note I converted the sword arm using a Conquest Games arm.
Meager additions, that all it is.  Next up the Conquest Games unit or the Infantry.
