Space Wolves for me are always fun, much like chaos and Black Templars. You can do so much with them and there is so much good visual reference material out there for them.
I used this back banner mainly because I like back banners and also because of the runic symbols. When I think of Space Wolves I think of Norse.
I don't use cork very open, but when I do, it gives a neat effect on the base. And it paints up well. I normally seal the broken edges of the cork with a thin and fast superglue.
I love doing drapings and sculpting fur. The claws are not hard to do either.
Fun project that I shipped out and no longer have cluttering up my desk.

Space Wolves Conversion...Chaos Warrior to Wolf, part 3
Final post of these conversions of the fantasy Chaos Warriors to space wolves. I thnk the beards worked pretty well. I sculpted those with a dull Xacto #11 blade that has the tip broken off. The dull blade gives you a finer look than my normal sculpting tool that looks like a metal toothpick. That tool I used on the hair and fur.
Above I added a tooth necklace. That's a fiddly bit, you are best to seal that with a very thin super glue afterwards.
Below are some sideviews, still need to add the backpacks. The GS chain is actually easier to do than the necklace. There are two ways to do the chain, one where you roll out a sausage of GS and tweezers. The other way is to add a number of beads on the model, flatten those out, punch in the centers of the flatten beads, and allow that to cure. Once cured, roll out a string of GS, lay that over top of the beads and then using a knife style sculpting tool you push the string into the center of the beads.
Below are some shots of the drapings. I use to just reserve the drapings for things like Templar or Wordbearer Spacemarines, but I think if painted in a leather like color with some rune styled writing on it, it will look very neat.
One thing you see with chaos warrior models is that ugly seam in the fur. It shows up on the majority of the models. So I will fill that seam with some GS and mimic the fur, like on the one below and to the left.
So there you are. Back to the Vikings.

Space Wolf Conversions...Progress Shots, Part 2
More conversions using the Chaos Warrior bodies. Above and below you can see that I left the knees of the warriors in place. The other thing you can see on these is that I used my dremel to remove the chaos warrior body elbow sockets. Just another way of attaching the arms.
So some progress. As you can see on the one above I had to really blend in and smooth the GS on the leg. The best way to blend that is by initially using a wet finger gently pulling across the GS for the general shape. Then I use a colour shaper to finish smoothing and shaping the GS.
Never been a fan of all of the models must stand on rocks basing technique, but that is personal preference and what the client wanted.

Space Wolf Conversions using Chaos Warriors...part 1
I've done quite a bit of converting of Chaos Warriors into Chaos Spacemarines in the past, but what a lot of people do not realize is that they make pretty cool looking Space Wolves. Matt Gubser, who sculpts of Reaper Miniatures and a number of other manufacturers, was one of the first people that I saw do this style of conversion.
All this work is on commission, so I will not be painting any of it. I'm instead painting Warriors of Chaos and Vikings at the moment. The conversions require spacemarine legs and bits and Fantasy Chaos Warriors. What I am doing is removeing the chaos warrior legs with a jewelers saw, and then adding the space marine legs in there place also cut with a jewelers saw.
Anyways, the models can be kind of stale, since they are based on the rank and file chaos of warriors. So to make up for that lack of dynamics you need to overload them with detail. So I've added a bunch of furs, beards, hair, claws, chain, and drapings, I recommend clicking on the collage photos to enlarge them.
The basing is something I normally do not like to do, but sometimes that is what is required, big rocks to stand on. In this case the slate rock is faked by a large chuck of bark. The miniatures above are just temporarily pinned to the bark at the moment. Some of the hands are simply pinned for the addition of pistols and such later.
Above another view of the model on the right in the previous pic. One thing I need to be a bit conscious of while doing these is to watch the knee knocking on the one on the right.

Another batch of Space Wolf Scout Conversions
This is the second batch. Again I'm using chaos marauder legs with the space marine torsos. As with the previous batch I went with a bunch of gear on them. There is also a variety of heads used in this batch. Throw in a Catachan arm and some marauder arms.
Makes for some buff scouts.
Here catch my grenade. Both of these heads are from the Empire sprues.
Thats it for now on the Chaos Marauder / Space Wolf scout conversions.
I will also probably be going black towards the end of the week, as I am moving once again and changing internet service providers with the move. As well I will be living between two places until I get a bit of work done in the new place. Not sure how long all of this is going to take, but I will be back and updating a little bit here 'n' there probably for the next 2-3 weeks until I get settled packing and then unpacking.

Space Wolf Scout Conversions....Using Chaos Marauder Parts
First five of these conversions. When you have lot of left over bitz as I do from the chaos marauders you'll find that they can make some interesting things.I have yet to work with the plastic space marine scout kit, when I was playing 40k all we had were the metal scouts. Anyways, I don't think scouts look rugged enough, or carry enough equipment. So I wanted to kit these guys out a bit with lots of gear.
The above model uses chaos marauder legs and muscled arms. The rope is from the plastic mordheim kit.
For these to I converted the one head and the head on the left is a chaos marauder head. Both shoulder pads the one on the right are from the chaos marauder kit.
Got to have a trusty shotgun. Shield is from the beastmen ungors, and the bag from the kroot.
This one uses an Empire head from the mordheim sprue, one shoulder pad from the chaos marauders and the small one from the kroot.
This one sort of has the Wolverine sideburns going on. The axe is all maruader. And yep a crossbow strapped to his back for that quiet mission where the bolt pistol is way too loud.

Taking a bit of break from Fantasy for 40k ...& Chelios
I've always enjoyed the 40k models and fluff, just not really the game itself. Lately, I've taken a bit of break from working on Fantasy Armies to refresh and do some different things. The TNA ork Nob, kind of refreshed me abit. I have a ton of pieces sitting on or around my desk, so I just began finishing a bunch of them for fun. Most will probably end up on Ebay for really cheap fun for someone else to paint. Alot of them are just experiments.
I really did not like these chaos knights heads, but as Chaos Space Marines they are quite creepy looking, which gives that cool evil look. The first is just your run of the mill conversion which will be on Ebay soon, links can be found to my Ebay account over at my Forum.
And then here is his brother:
Then some left overs from a Space Wolves army that I never finished, that had a whole lot of barbarian type marine conversions in it. These two guys are up for sale on my forum by the way.
More 40k stuff to follow soon, and maybe some WIP shots of some of my Black Orcs.
And wow what a game I'm watching as I'm doing this between Detroit and Anaheim. I'm a huge hockey fan, love the Red Wings and Badgers. This game has had a ton of action lots of goals early, then everything tightened up a bit, going into triple OT. Great to see Chelios still playing at 47, as well as former USHL Green Bay player Ryan Carter for Anaheim. And it's just ended damn dirty ducks just won. Great game though.
