So after some Hate....Time for some Prayer

I've painted a number of these monks.  They are great little figures.
Lots of good character.
Nice looking gesture.
Just a super simple model to paint, that looks really good.

Saxons on Horseback - Saga!

These are some kit bashes that I put together.  I believe the horses are from Perry Miniatures, the rider bodies are Conquest Games Normans, and the heads are Gripping Beast Saxons and a GW Bretonian.
 Really cool miniatures to paint.
It's been awhile since I have painted horses, they are always a challenge for me.
I think I got the eyes right.  The one below is the rider with the GW head.

I really like the pose of this guy.

So there you go some Saxons.....more to follow.

A Viking by Saxon and Saxon

Now that's a confusing title eh?
Yep.  A Viking warlord by Saxon Miniatures now Warlord Games.  Fun pose on this one.  I did not like Colin's hand on this one though, so I chopped it off and put a Gripping Beast Plastics hand on it instead.
This is a close up of one of my Gripping Beast Saxons.  I do like the heads on these miniatures.

 My standard blues and leather.

2nd Painted Saxon Unit!!! Finally...

Yep...this is the second fully painted Saxon unit.  All Gripping Beasts plastics comprised of Saxons and converted Dark Ages for the Fryd.
This one actually has a dracco banner, I still need to make the banner for the other unit.
A mix of shield transfers from Little Big Men, Battle Flag and then my own Paint.

Again I'm attempting make the movement trays cool with battle carnage.
 The back is cool.

Yea I like doing special poses on the corners.
More to come....

First Saxon Unit....Painted

Its taken a while to get to this point, but I liked how they turned out.  I'm using the same basing scheme as my Vikings as likely they'll be just my house WAB army for downstairs basement action.
These are all Gripping Beast plastics with the armored front ranks being the Saxons and the back ranking Fryd being from their Dark Ages Kit.  I also decided to use a number of different colors in the pallette to distinguish them from my Vikings.  A little bit brighter colors.

Yea the banner is missing.  That's something that I still have to get around to.....
Staying with the same theme on the movement trays....attempting to tell small stories with them.

I purposely painted the Fyrd in more muted colors to the emphasize the lack of money they had in comparison to the armored folk.
Well that's it for now, as always much more to follow.....

Getting Pelted by Stones...First new unit of the Year

Sticks and stones will break......well you know how it goes.  This the first newly completed unit like bunch of miniatures of the year.  Got a couple of more slingers to paint yet, as I'm just randomly grabbing bunches of Saxons and Vikings to paint.

These are the Gripping Beast plastic Dark Ages miniatures.  Pretty repetitive poses, something that the kit has problems with.  I tried to change it up a bit with some really subtle conversions.
Please ignore the movement tray as that is something that I borrowed from a unit of chaos warriors.

With most of these I tried to stay with a simple plain colors and use lots of browns and grays with some color mixed in.
Now I actually have some levy for Saga, Skirmishers for WAB, and not sure what they can be used for in Swordpoint.

Another MAN DOWN! 2

Saxon Thegn this time.  Actually its a crusader from the Perry Brothers' line.  Cool miniature line.
This in particular is a cool piece that I have had for a long while.  Nice to get it done.

First of the Saxons

I have the last batches of the plastic Gripping Beast saxons on my paint table currently, a couple big units of them.  These are the first ones that complete.
Some back ranks of Fryd spearmen.  The Gripping Beast Dark Ages plastics are okay miniatures, a little stale on the poses.  I think GBP tried to simpifly the assembling of their minis.  In my opinion after painting a great deal of them, they made a mistake doing that and ended with a very boring lot of miniatures.  But, they are versatile in use, and the heads do work with their plastic Viking and Saxon kits.  As you can see I used a Saxon head on one of these miniatures.
