When Barbarian Fight...My Art

When I was a kid, I would spend hours looking at Marvel Comics' Big John Buscema's Conan and Thor and Avengers.  I was not a rich kid, I did not have a ton of comicbooks, just a few.  John Buscema artwork was what I thought was perfect for comic books.  I would spend many days trying to draw like him, inspired by him.  Many of those books fell apart and are in complete tatters, as I would take them with me on family trips to pass the time.  The only one I still have from then is Thor Annual #5, the covers are missing pieces, the book has been restapled, the pages are yellowed and worn.  A few years ago I bought a better copy of that book for my collection.  Now I have 100s of comics, mostly Conan, by John Buscema.

This piece is inspired by Big John, a Conan cover that he did years ago.  This is my version of that.

My art | Marvel's Dysfunctional Batman

Its the Moon Knight sort of David Finch inspired.  My pen, marker, brush ink, and white jelly roll pen work. Miniatures updates are coming for 2021, maybe sporadically as I have a pretty good stock pile primed up, but my guess is that the out of control dumpster fire that was 2020 will be continued by all of these out of control governmental bodies that we have.

A new Barbarian - Art

Been a while since I sat down and put pencil to paper and then dug out the quill and brush and some india ink.  I will be painting today, but just finished up this piece and scanned it.  Getting some of the creative juices flowing again by drawing some things and inking other great artist's work as well.

So this one is on me, somewhere out there, barbarians are fighting:

Some Warhammer 40k Black Templars Art

One of my older pen, brush and ink drawings from a few years ago.  Very stylized metal.  I'm practicing with my pencil drawing and changing my style that used a few years ago.

The Punisher

A smallish cropped scan of a piece that I inked over the classic Mike Zeck Marvel Punisher piece.  I've always loved this piece as a kid.  So I thought it was time to see how my inks looked over it.  Now I have a 10x15 piece for a poster without having to buy one.

Been awhile....More in the works

Well I took a bit of a break from posting for a bit.  I'm still painting away on miniatures and have a ton of stuff done in the can and more in various stages as winter comes to an end.  I've also started sketching and drawing once again and have a few pieces in the works.  Plan to work on my inking a bit, by inking some others work as well.

I'll be getting back to doing some of my own stuff, likely not 40k stuff, but some of my own concepts.   This is some of my older stuff.

A Cerulean Templar:

 A generic space marine.
 A Nob.
A short necked Roman.  I still have a bit of anatomical hickups in my art.
