Skaven War Litter III Conversion...done

I've done two other conversions of Skaven Warlitters.  While I thought they were good conversions, I was not as happy with how the litter looked.  The model below is stuck to the base with some poster putty.
The primary reason for not really caring for the way the litter turned out, was the poles were upright that the Storm Vermin carrying the litter were holding on to.
So for this one I decided to fix that.  And that fix works very nicely.  This is what I envisisioned in the first place.
For the Lord model I used the one out of the basic boxed set.  Its a very cool looking model, for a simplistic two piece miniature.
The Lord model does lean way forward so I knew I need to compensate for that by leaning the entire platform forward.   Did this by building up the base with Apoxie Sculp.
Below is another angle of the litter.  The Lord model is also on this big rock, I removed that with my dremel and then sculpted in the wood grain of the platform.
This one I'm happy with.   The base and big rat are one piece.  The front bearer platform and Lord are another piece.  The storm vermin in the back is separate.  And the banner is brass tube and removable, pinned to the platform.  Doing it in pieces like this will make it much easier to paint.  Assemble after painting.

All the lessons learned are being applied to an orc palanquin that I'm building from my new fantasy army.  It should look pretty cool when I'm done.

Skaven War Litter II Conversion...done

Its done and sold already. I have parts to do one more and plan to do so. This one did not change much from what I had previously shown.

It fits on the base better than the previous. The next one I'm changing up the way the litter is carried by the Storm Vermin.

I do love the halbred pieces they have. And if all of the GW rats looked like the storm vermin, I would be tempted to do an army.

Skaven War Litter II - Work In Progress

I did a commissioned skaven war litter quite sometime ago and was left with a whole lot of the new GW storm vermin bits, a model I have really come to like. And their halberds are seriously cool looking blades that I have come up with what I think is a rather ingenious use for, that I will be sharing in future posts on my Warriors of Chaos army. So what to do with the left over bits? Make another.

The warlord on the litter is a rather simple conversion, mostly just a weapon conversion. I used some of the cut off halberds for the guys bearing the litter, just to use up the bits. I will probably shorten up the staff/sticks they are holding. The next time I do this, I would like for the handles to be parallel to the litter platform. The real problem with that is that all of this needs to fit on a 40mm square base.

This is definitely a concept that I plan to revisit when I get back to my orcs and goblins army modeling. I have always loved Nurgle planaquins and this whole war litter concept is cool. So with a little more work, this will be done.

Something Different...Skaven War Litter

I normally don't stray outside of chaos, orcs, and spacemarines very often when doing commission work. My thoughts are build what you like so it doesn't become a job, but is something that is fun. Then someone that I've done work for in the past approached me with the idea of doing a war litter for his upcoming Skaven army.

I immediately thought Stormvermin, and thought this would be a fun and cool project.

It does fit on a 40mm base which works well with the Skaven.

Doing this project has given me some ideas on what to do with my orcs for fun.

Now I also have a bunch of blades and more Storm Vermin to use up as left overs. Maybe I'll build another and I have an idea for all of those Storm Vermin Halbred blades that ought to look really cool on some Chaos Spacemarines and Knights.
