America - now with more hope and change...

...what was once the fever swamp rantings of hardcore paranoic right-wingers is today's news:

//In rural, small-town Iowa, a group of parents and community leaders is seeking to prevent students from the local taxpayer-funded middle school and high school from attending future versions of an anti–bullying conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens.

The last one — in April — left many of the denizens of Humboldt, Iowa up in arms, reports Des Moines NBC affiliate WHO-TV.

Iowa Safe Schools, an activist group out of Des Moines, hosted the conference.

It was quite something.

Among the nearly two dozen speakers, “only two” addressed bullying, one attendee estimated, according to EAGnews.org.

The rest of the sessions involved issues such as “how to pleasure their gay partners.”

Middle school girls from Humboldt (pop.: 4,690) had the opportunity to learn “how to sew fake testicles into their underwear in order to pass themselves off as boys.”

One speaker wore a dress made out of condoms to which could be “used as needed.” Another speaker raised the important middle-school issue of using the Internet to locate an orgy.

A father from Des Moines whose daughter attended the conference described the girl’s experience.

“She thought she was attending this conference to learn how students can be supportive of their homosexual peers,” he explained, according to EAGnews.

“When she got there, it wasn’t really on bullying; it was basically a sexual education class for same-sex couples,” the mad dad said. “It was crude. One presenter told students who asked whether anal sex hurt that, as a lesbian, it really depended on how big the device is that their partner straps on.”//

Famous Gay Anti-Bullying Figure says "Too many of you...

...just enough of us."

His cultural power lends significance to comments he made during a debate this week in Australia. As part of the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, he went head-to-head with Britain's Peter Hitchens on marriage, Christianity and sex – and got progressively filthier and angrier as the evening wore on. Then, at the end, he made a statement that everyone should hear and that you can witness in the video above. Asked to provide a truly "dangerous idea", he said:
Population control: there's too many Goddam people on the planet. [Audience applauds like lunatics]. You know, I'm pro-choice, I believe that women should have a right to control their bodies. Sometimes in my darker moments, I'm anti-choice. I think abortion should be mandatory for about 30 years.
Yeah, he actually said that.
In retrospect, Savage might try to insist that he was only joking but there's no smile on his face and the point seems quite seriously made. It's also not funny. Had he said that old people should be exterminated to bring the numbers down, his career might be over. Because he said something similar about abortion, he'll probably be defended by radical pro-choicers. But what he's basically saying here is that women should be compelled to abort their children so that there are less people around to annoy Dan Savage. Of course, they already do this in China.
The irony is that prior to this comment Savage and Hitchens were arguing about who was the more authoritarian: religious conservatives or free-loving liberals. With this statement on abortion, Savage answers his own question. In a way that should make both Left and Right shudder.

Tolerance is the moment between breathing out one orthodoxy and breathing in another.

Secularist Canadian government censors philosophy and the Catholic Catechism at a Catholic school.

Here is the story:

Education minister Scott Kent told the CBC that he ordered the document to be immediately removed from Vanier Catholic Secondary School’s website since it did not meet his department's requirements.
But bishop Gordon, religious education director for all Catholic secondary schools in the diocese, told the CBC that the education department approved the policy last spring. “It was vetted by the Department of Education, the policy people,” he said.

The policy, quoting The Catechism of the Catholic Church, states that “homosexual acts” are “acts of grave depravity” and that “tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’”
The policy continues quoting the Catechism: “They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”
While condemning homosexual acts, the policy makes it clear the persons struggling with same-sex attraction must be treated with the same rights and given the same respect as everyone else.
“All persons, share the same rights and dignity and are called to live as God's children,” states the policy. “It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the Church's pastors wherever it occurs. It reveals a kind of disregard to others which endangers the most fundamental principles of a healthy society. The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in word, in action and in law.”
Kent met with Bishop Gordon on the issue last week. The minister said that they both agreed the policy should be deleted from the school’s website.
While Bishop Gordon agreed to remove the policy, he nevertheless stated that the policy will remain in effect for teachers at Vanier.
Repeating the Church’s teaching on the issue, the bishop said, “Homosexual activity is always morally wrong”. He pointed out that Catholic school should be allowed to teach Catholic teaching on the issue.

Here is the secular newspaper story for those who don't trust special interests.

Dan Savage wins this year’s Son of Ernst Rohm Award for Most Repellent Representative of Gay Community

Yes, Rohm was both a Nazi and a homosexual.

Oops, there goes a victim card.

Mark Shea explains why the coveted "Son of Ernst Rohm Award" (the "Rohmy") goes to Dan Savage.

Ernst Rohm: Proof That Just Because You’ve Been a Victim Doesn’t Mean You Can’t Be a Jerk Too.

Shea points to this gay-orchestrated mini-Kristalnacht:

A homosexual activist group calling itself “Angry Queers” claimed responsibility for smashing nine windows in a church known for teaching traditional sexual morality early Tuesday morning.

“Upon arriving at the church, we discovered nine separate windows had been smashed in with rocks, including two beautiful 100-year-old stained glass windows,” wrote Tim Smith, pastor of the Portland campus of Mars Hill Church. “We estimate the damage to be several thousand dollars.”

The vandals sent an e-mail to local television station KOIN-TV stating they took the action, because “Mars Hill is notoriously anti-gay and anti-woman.”
