The 21st Century is not turning out the way we were promised.

If you are a leftist, you see the re-emergence of white nationalism as evidence that Americans and "white people" are inherently racist.

If you aren't a leftist, you see that kind of thinking as racist and think "what happened?"

Of course, let's keep an open mind on how extensive the white supremacist problem is.  In the 1920s, the KKK was 4% of the population. Today if it is 100,000 strong, that is a fraction of 1%, although still a scary number.

Perhaps the way to end racism is to end racism on all sides?

Things to know about the Alt-Right.

Brown-Red violence was a mainstay of the Weimar politics, which helped to destabilize Weimar politics among German citizens who came to believe that one of the two violent parties was going to win. Given the choice a lot of them - but not a majority - decided to toss their fate in with the least dangerous appearing threat.

America is different.  Our political system is not viewed as inherently compromised by being founded out of a military defeat, but toss in something like an impeachment of a duly elected populist president and who knows what will happen, particularly if it looks like a fix from inside.

More disturbing is the demographics of the alt-right, young, male and white. Pictures of the two groups indicate that the feverswamp left has a goodly number of middle-aged leftists zanies, but the alt-right look to be in their twenties.

How healthy can it be to tell young white men that they are not wanted? That they are not needed? That they are, in fact, despised for their non-existent white privilege?

Where else can they go to find themselves wanted, needed and respected?

Not healthy.
