Quick Pic: Straw T-Rex
It’s September. In Japan that means rice is being harvested across the
country. It also means straw art. After the grains are harvested, rice
straw (“wara” in Japanese) is left behind. In Niigata Prefecture,
however, locals have been turning that rice straw into art with a yearly
Wara Art Festival.
Students of Musashino Art University along with interested citizens, recently came together to create incredible animals of immense stature out of rice straw, wood and rope for the Straw Art Festival, which took place in Niigata City, Japan during the last weekend of August. According to the organizers, the festival was a great success.

Lego Creation: Jurassic Visitor Center
"Jurassic Park Visitor Center" by Garm4n
As much as I loved Jurassic World, Jurassic Park is still near and dear to my heart. So when this fantastic Lego Jurassic Park Visitor Center came up for voting on Lego Ideas, it immediately caught my eye.
The set will include the main entrance hall with two dinosaur skeletons, “Les Gigantes” restaurant with gift shop, kitchen, VIP dining room, emergency bunker, showcase theater, control room, and the genetics lab with cold storage room. There will also be minifigs of characters like John Hammond, Tim and Lex Murphy, Donald Gennaro, Ray Arnold, Robert Mulddon, and “The Big One” aka “Clever Girl.”
Give the project your vote and help make it a reality!

"Over the years, almost every new LEGO movie licensed theme has been created to match with a new theatrical release. In the case of big movie franchises, some sets based on previous films were produced before the ones based on the new films. This has happened with "STAR WARS", "Toy Story", or "Indiana Jones".
So a good reason to release a fourth Jurassic Park movie was the chance to see LEGO products for the previous films, right?
Strangely, the last product license ignores the previous movies and is based only on the last film in the series, "Jurassic World". It looks a lost opportunity for such a license deal."

Fan Art Round-Up: Jurassic World Raptors
A Gallery of Jurassic World Fan Art featuring the Raptor Pack
I went saw Jurassic World last weekend, and I have to tell you that I have a massive amount of Raptor Squad Feels right now. Chris Pratt and his raptor squad are basically my favorite thing ever... you know, until the next fandom comes along. The members of the Raptor pack are: Echo, who likes to fight, Delta, Charlie, who is basically a silly puppy, and Blue, who is THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE.
You see, Jurassic World is in fact a feminist film. Only Claire isn't the female lead, despite somehow managing to outrun a T-Rex in high heels while not dropping a cellphone. Blue is the strong female lead. She's strong. She's decisive. She maintains multiple relationships with other female leads (albeit dinosaurs). Best of all, she's not treated as a sex object by the male lead. Basically, she's the Imperator Furiosa of the jungle.
To celebrate our love for Blue and her endearing but satisfyingly complex relationship with Chris Pratt, we've rounded up a gallery of some of the most squee-worthy Raptor Pack fan art on the web. As always, if you know of any we missed, feel free to drop us a link in the comments below!
