Stick Shift Humor

We are determined that Skylerr will drive Lil' Blue which is a manual. So over the last year we have slowly been teaching him how to drive. Today, Skyler came into our bedroom and asked if he could take the van to practice. Scott quickly responded with, "No. Take the blue car." Skyler and I were both apprehensive and a bit worried. But Scott was adament that this is the best way to learn. Well we are determined that he learn so that this does not apply:

Also, I am strongly leaning towards doing this....

Anyway, about 11:30 am, I was in the van and the small garage door opened and in pulled Skyler. I looked at him and he looked at me. And then there was the little sheepish grin. He did it! And he only "stalled twice!" It was actually a super proud mom moment!

New Driver!

Today, Skyler and I took a trip to the DMV so that he could finish the final steps to getting his license. And so now, it is official-we have a teenage driver! It comes with mixed emotions, a lot of excitement for him and us as a family; a little bit of fear and worry-just normal parent worry; and a little bit of denial-how am I old enough to have a driver?!

This evening I was starting the process of dinner prep and realized I needed something from Wal-Mart. It would have added 30 minutes for me to run over to get the item and dinner would have been seriously delayed. And then I had an "Ah-ha!" moment. I called Skyler to the kitchen and said, "I need you to run to Wal-mart." The look on his face was adorable as he tried to hide a sheepish little smile. And so it has begun. The days of my kids helping run errands. I think I could get used to this.

Happy, and safe, driving Skyler!

Moving On Up

Andrew officially moved from his car seat to a booster seat. He was pretty excited when Daddy took him for a ride in the truck today. Andrew is always begging to ride in the truck but he usually gets turned down because it is no fun to switch his car seat so this was a real treat for him!

Livvy Liv

*Livvy is still getting the hang of the squeezies...
*Miss Olivia has discovered her shadow. It is the cutest thing. She is completely enthralled by it. I caught her sitting and waving at her shadow
*Olivia met her cousin Levi and loved having someone her size around to play with
*After sitting and watching Mav in his cage Olivia hurried for her chance to be in the cage
*Livvy LOVES to take baths, apparently she loves them so much she wants to hang out in the bathtub even when there is no water and she is dressed
*one of Livvy's very favorite things right now is to remove her air vent and stuff anything she can get her hands on down the air vent
*MILESTONE: Livvy is Standing on her own!!!

Kaylas 1st haircut

Well I finally decided it was time to give this little lady a haircut. It was probably overdue but I've come to realize a little girls "First" haircut is an emotionally hard thing. It took me months to get myself emotionally ready for this. I also did lots of research on how to cut a toddler girls hair. So now that it is done.... It was actually kind of fun! Kayla did really good at sitting still and the very best part? No need for an emergency trip to the hair dresser. Does that mean its perfect? No. But I think it turned out well enough and I'm actually excited for next time.

First food

Kayla tried her first solid food today - runny oatmeal! She did well - she tried to steal the spoon and feed herself but other than that she just gobbled it up.

Carson has been learning to ride his bike. He is timid but doing well! It is fun to see his excitement!
