Kansas City Trip, Day 2 (afternoon)

This afternoon we headed down to downtown Kansas City to act like tourists. We at lunch at Grinders, a place that comes recommended form Guy Ferretti on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. As recommended we "chili bombed" our pizza (they add a pile of tater tots and chili to your pizza) and as gross as it sounds it was actually delicious. It was super fun to be at a new place!

This afternoon we also walked around a little farmers market downtown. It was interesting to see a big city farmers market.

We also went to see the WW1 national monument. It was neat to see it and read some of the history WWI. There was an interesting part of the monument where there are 2 lions facing opposite directions, hiding their faces. We asked about this and were told that one lion was looking toward the past and the past was so horrible that he had to cover his face. The other lion was facing the future and it was so horrible that he covered his face. It was a nice afternoon and we enjoyed walking around in the warm weather.
