Spring Break Trip 2021 (day 2 of 5)

Today we visited Joshua Tree National Park. It was an awesome day. We had no issues with traffic and even inside the park wasn't too busy.  JTNP is mostly desert with a few mountains. It contains the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert and we were able to explore the transition area and see the vast differences between  the 2 areas. We drove the park and stopped along the way at a few of the hikes/trails. Here's what we did:

*Hidden Valley Trail AWESOME hike with lots of chances for rock climbing, and tunnel finding under massive boulders.
*Skull Rock (giant rock that does somewhat resemble a skull)
*Visitor Center visit: picked up our NP book stamp, stickers and a JTNP magnet
*Arch Rock Hike: short but cool hike to a rock that has eroded to a smaller arch. The arch was cool but what was even cooler was the slots, tunnels and rocks we found behind the arch. We had a lot of fun climbing around and exploring.
*Cholla Cactus Garden: This was a whole garden, with trail, of the Cholla Cactus which I have never seen before. They were almost pretty! This was one of the most interesting cactus' I've ever seen, Apparently it's a very poisonous cactus.

We had a super fun day and are so glad we made it to this NP! This was a fun and kind of long day. We made it back to the cabin and had a quick and yummy dinner. We got little kids to bed and then I taught Skyler and Carson (and reminded Scott) how to play euchre.
