Weekend Rewind

Phew, that weekend literally flew on on by! Wow, can't believe it is Monday!

Friday night M's ball game ended up getting cancelled, so had Friday evening to prep the yard for the clean up, get all the equipment here, bath Gracie, etc. and then get the kids to bed!

Saturday morning we had about 6 guys here to help at 9 AM with cleaning up the tree limbs. We rented a chipper and mulched as much of it as we could.

Miss Emilya has been super clingy this weekend, not sure if she just sensed the commotion going on around her, but she insisted on being held all weekend. Oh darn... Baby snuggles are no fun at all! I did manage to wear her for about an hour or so while I vacuumed the pool and treated it on Saturday morning.

Noah was a champ all weekend with listening ears and he just wanted to help out in any way he could, so we let him and he was soo happy!

After lunch on Saturday Noah and M went for a swim in the chilly pool, but then it was naptime. It's about that time that my allergies began to suck big time, my lavender oil was not working, nor was Benedryl. Apparently chipping that tree just put soo much pollen and dust in the air that I was a mess and only went down hill from there. Even the clingy baby was becoming too much for me. I ran into town to pick up supper and then had M take over for a bit so I could just rest my painful and swollen eyes.

We were soo grateful for all the help we had on Saturday, it really made a big messy job go a lot quicker.

Sunday was more yard clean up the boys, while I vouched to stay inside and work on laundry. I still didn't feel great, but sleep did help.

Noah stayed with Daddy all day outside pretty much, aside from a monster nap. So we are pretty much in clean up mode for the rest of the month and THEN we will be able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the summer we hope!

Sunday night we ripped the carpet out on the stairs going to the basement - ugh soo gross! I've anted it gone since we moved in and yesterday we had the new carpet installed and it is soo nice and plush. We are really happy with it!

Today Miss Emilya and I are having a day together while Noah goes to hang out with Grandma. Emilya has her 2 month shots today and I have a feeling she is NOT going to like it! She is a bit dramatic over the slightest things, so something I would agree with hurting, just might put her over the top. M's Mom offered to keep Noah until after his nap this afternoon so I could have some time with Emilya and I just thought how great that would be, especially considering how clingy she has been! Wish us luck!

Weekend Rewind... On Thursday

Yup, just recapping the weekend on Thursday... No big deal!! This week started off really good, but then Tuesday turned into Monday and today feels like it should be Friday. I did get Emilya's newborn photos back, so stay tuned maybe next week for those!

Friday night we did end up having visitors, but they came after Noah was in bed, so it worked out not too badly. Emilya is slowly getting used to others holding her.

Saturday rnorning we got everyone ready to leave the house. M dropped Noah off at the farm for a breakfast date with Grandma, while I fed Emilya and got her ready to go to her first trip to IKEA!

She actually did pretty good in the truck, for hating her car seat. She is much better at self soothing and putting herself to sleep than her brother ever was! But Noah was also better in the car seat than she is! To crazy how similar they are, yet soo different!!

We got prime parking at IKEA, the store wasn't too busy, but busy all at the same time. We didn't really know exactly what we wanted, so we had to walk the show floor. Emilya was ready to eat again, so I walked and while nursing her and she fell asleep! We managed to find just what we needed and headed downstairs to collect the goods.

Emilya needed to eat again and we had brought a bottle, so I attempted to push our regular cart while giving her a bottle, which proved quite tricky, as I had 2 ginormous rugs in it. M went to collect the furniture. We lucked out with no line ups at the check outs and no wait time for loading up!!

All smiles for her first IKEA trip!

When Noah woke up from his nap at the farm, M went and picked him up and then it was time to get building all the new furniture! Noah was all about helping...

While Emilya was all about smiling and snuggling!

Sunday morning we worked on finishing the furniture and cleaning the basement. Noah's new favorite hiding spot - until we put shelves in it.

Noah and I got a little one on one time while Emilya napped. Love this squish:

Carrie and Steve came over to visit, which of course Noah loved:

We had a great visit and wish they lived closer!!

Once Noah was down for his nap, I worked on getting Emilya down for hers, so that I could have one myself. M's Mom ended up coming over to help with moving stuff back into the basement. I was going to help them with whatever I could, but this damn lifting rule really limits me, so they told me to take my nap. I managed to get an hour in before Emilya woke up. I also got the dining room all dusted and cleaned.

We had a nice roast beef dinner with M's parents over and enjoyed a little visit.

Most of the furniture is out of the bin, we just have all the boxed up stuff, but we plan to go through that as we bring it in.

So we had a productive weekend to say the least.

First Day Alone with 2

The day finally came and I was a bit nervous in all honesty. Mostly nervous over the fact that I am recovering from a c-section and have limitations with lifting and what not and secondly nervous about lack of sleep and functioning a full day with enough patience and no help!

Well I am 3 days in and it's a heck of a lot easier than what I had imagined. We definitely have some work to do in the toddler listening department, however I am really happy with how it's gone down this far! I am not naive enough to know that we will have some really really rough days ahead, in the meantime I am taking each day minute by minute/hour by hour and we are doing great!

A huge credit goes to Emilya, who is super laid back and an excellent sleeper. I am waking feeling soo rested, which is also key to my csection recovery and sanity. I am waking up around 7 AM when Noah gets up and Emilya is usually sleeping from about 5-9 AM, giving me time to pump if needed, feed Noah (and myself) and give him some one on one time! Having a renovation going on during our first week has had its challenges, but I am happy to say it is almost done - I am hoping by the weekend we can start moving stuff back in and make a trip to IKEA to get some storage solutions.

My biggest goal, now that I am a mom of 2 is tandem napping, giving me time to myself to either just relax or attempt to get something done quietly or to nap, which is exactly what I have done all 3 days, is nap! Another key to feeling soo great post csection!

On Day 1, M was home in enough time to help with preparing dinner, which was one less thing I had to deal with. It's rough timing trying to get dinner going, feed the baby - who is usually awake and wanting to eat from about 4:30-6:30, feed Noah, etc. Day 2 was dinner at the farm and yesterday was my first day to prepare dinner... M got a casserole out of the freezer in the morning, so I had to do was put it in the oven and of course I forgot! Didn't help that Noah was not listening, and Emilya just wanted to eat.

So there we have it, we all survived, we were all tired by the end of the day, but overall, it was great. Yesterday was a true testament of my patience with Noah, as he must have lost his listening ears over night, so that was fun, but we made it. We will have our good days and our bad days, and believe it or not, this mama still hasn't HAD to have wine yet!!

Being a mom to two is such a blessing and I truly am loving every single moment of it!

Kitchen/Bathroom Renovation Reveal

Ok I finally took the time to photograph the kitchen and bathroom since it was redone in October. I didn't bother photographing the great room yet because I was waiting on my shelving units - which we just got this past week!

So you may recall, we had to get a whole new truss system in the back part of the house. This is what the kitchen looked like before:

And the after photos:

You will notice the bulk head is gone, we added trim to the top of the cupboards for a more finished look, new crown moulding, new lighting, new backsplash, and new paint! There is also new hardware installed since the before photos, but they have been up for a while!

Unfortunately we need to install new floors in there again, as ours are separating slowly ever since the dishwasher leaked! But they will work for now!

Moving on to the bathroom:

Since these before pics were taken, we have replaced the vanity with a bigger one with granite counters:

The mirror is from the mudroom, I made the new curtains and there is a new light fixture in there, as well as crown moulding. I do miss the dark grey walls, but love the blue! It is the same blue we had in the great room/kitchen before. We also have attic access in there now too!

I plan to paint the vanity a grey, as well as the medicine cabinet.

There you have it! We are in love with the new space!

Weekend Rewind

Oh Tuesday... This means we survived a busy Monday!!
(Smooches for Gracie)

Yesterday we had play group in the morning, then a few hours at home before we went to the farm so Grandma could babysit, as M and I had a funeral visitition for a friend who's mother passed away suddenly from lung cancer!! So sad! We popped home to do our workout before picking up Noah! Apparently Noah didn't feel the need to nap while at Grandma's, so this is what happened when we came home...

This never happens, so we took turns snuggling before waking him for dinner!!
Excuse my crazy post workout hair!!

Now onto the weekend...

Friday we found out my cousin had her baby!! A boy!!! Gabriel - who was the same weight and length as Noah and they are exactly 11 months apart!! Soo happy for them!!

Noah also took his very first steps!! I'm still in shock over this!! He just let go of my hands while walking to M and walked right past him! We were all soo surprised! Yes, I cried!!

Friday night I watched the movie If I Stay - wasn't a huge fan actually. I just couldn't seem to get into it!

Saturday and Sunday were both low key, spent at home while M was trying to get the basement floor done!! Which we accomplished!! Bye bye carpet:

And the finished product:

I love how it turned out!!! It actually makes the space look bigger!!

Now we are done with big indoor stuff this year - we will see about outdoor stuff!

Can we believe I am in the midst of planning Noah's first birthday party?? What??!! I know!! How fast has this gone by! I swear I just had him!!

Weekend Rewind

This weekend was jam-packed with family time, which in all honesty I absolutely love!!! These are the days that we will remember, so instead of doing the work the piles up around us, we focused on us instead!!

Friday night we had a nice family dinner with M's parents and then M and I headed out for a date night with two other couples while M's parents babysat! It was nice to enjoy some adult conversations, sip on some wine and snack on some appetizers! I will say that M is soo funny when it comes to leaving Noah, he worries for the first 10 minutes before and after we leave and then it comes back whenever we are on our way home! If I am being honest I not so secretly love that about him!!

Saturday morning M went and picked up our flooring for the basement and then he was going to clean up all the cardboard on the deck from our IKEA trip, Christmas, etc. But instead I said, it will wait, let's just have family time instead! That is the one thing I have learned since being a parent that the work will wait. M decided we all needed out of the house, so after lunch and Noah's nap, we packed up and went out on a mission to find both of us new winter boots! I was dreading this process, although I knew it needed to be done. But we actually had a lot of fun!!

Ardene happened to be having a sale, so we stopped there, where I got a few pair of pants for around the house, then we had to stop at Canadian Tire so we could get spray paint for a DIY project, then Payless, Marks Work Warehouse and last stop was Aden where we finally found ourselves boots and we got a great sale on them!!

We both bought Bogs!! They are incredibly comfy and functional for us!! Noah was an absolute trooper while we were out, which was great, but I think he was going stir crazy being cooped up in the house this week as it has been brutally cold and snowy out around here!

We came home, hung out some more and then put Noah down. We watched the movie Sex Tape, which I heard was really funny, with Cameron Diaz, but honestly I didn't find it all that great!!

When I put on The Fault In Our Stars next M was ready to watch something else, so we quickly came up with a game plan for starting our 21 Day Fix Challenge on Sunday and relaxed the rest of the night.

Holy tear jerker, but The Fault In Our Stars was a good movie! I actually have the book to read too!!

Sunday we started the 21 Day Fix!! More to come on that this week!! We also worked away around the house crossing things off the to-do list! Noah was a helper with the laundry:

We enjoyed a nice family walk, a little dance party and then bedtime!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
