Weekend In Photos

We had a pretty good weekend!

Friday night we took Noah to my sisters for the first time!!

She made a great dinner and we surprised Hannah with her birthday present, since we missed her birthday party the day we had Noah! My Dad ended up coming for dinner as well!!

This was his first picture with all his grandchildren!! B was more interested in Noah than looking at the camera, but it still made a good picture!!

My Dad also made these sweet moccasins for Noah:

Friday nights sleep routine was a bit off and we had our first night of more than 2 wakings. It wasn't too bad, he just didn't want to settle.

Saturday morning we slept in a bit, and then M bathed all the cats! The hair was becoming too much, as they are shedding like beasts, and actually they all actually enjoyed their bathes (as much as a cat can enjoy a bath), but it wasn't pure torture this time, they all co-operated! We got some laundry done, and I worked on the printables for Noah's nursery. We "spring-cleaned" the kitchen, so now we just have the spare bath, mudroom and bedroom to spring clean on the main floor! Feels great to get started on this task, despite the fact that I am not able to do much.

Saturday afternoon, we went to Cambridge to pick up the family ring M designed for me.

The ring is on upside down... Duh... It's a V for our last name, our birth stones and Noah's in the middle! Now I just have to get used to wearing it!

We grabbed some groceries quickly as well while were in the city and then we came home and relaxed.

Noah had another rough night, he was just wide awake after feedings. We are pretty sure this is the start of a growth spurt! According to The Wonder Years App, he is starting his first leap and so far it seems accurate! He is eatting a bit more often and not settling as easily to rest. He also just wants to be held all the time instead of put down. No complaints there though - we love the snuggles!

We celebrated Noah being 5 weeks!!

K and R came over in the morning to meet Noah. It was great to catch up!!

We tackled a few more projects on the to-do list! Dealt with more laundry, a few last minute mini jobs in the bathroom, like flooring transition piece and trim work, hung the frames on the gallery wall in the nursery and attempted to sort his clothes out in to drawers upstairs until he woke up and needed to eat. In all honesty I was ready for the break, as I am torn on how to organize his drawers!!

We attempted a family nap:

It didn't happen all at once, although we tried, but we ended up napping in shifts! It was a but too chilly for a family walk after dinner, so M took the dogs and I fed Noah! We ended the evening with a content, happy Noah!!

Noah had a great nights sleep last night, which was warmly welcomed by us, however I apparently felt the need to sleep like a retard and my neck is stiff! So today will be fun, but at least he is happy!!

Weekend REwind

We had a great weekend!!!

Friday night I watched The Big Wedding - it was pretty good, with a cast loaded with potential! No complaints!

Saturday M went into town and got our groceries done, while I started emptying the bedroom, folded laundry, and figured out our outfits for pictures.

Dress was from Giant Tiger (I lucked out, as I don't shop there often at all and it was only $15)

He then went and did an oil change on my car afterwards at the farm and cleaned it out for me!! Sweet husband!!

We changed the bedroom round, it may have taken us waaay longer than I care to admit, because we couldn't get our furniture to fit just right, but we made some compromises and got it done. And during the two nights we have had it switched I have slept soo much better. My allergies are starting to lighten up a bit, a small improvement that I will take!

Our pictures went well, I can't wait to see how they turn out! The sunlight was soo co-operative.

When we got home, we finished working on the bedroom and called it a night! I knew I had to get up early the next morning!

Sunday we were off by 9, instead of 8 because we couldn't find my updated car insurance forms, so we had papers everywhere when we came home, which I am dealing with today!

Our shopping trip was great! I got some great deals:
- 2 pairs of maternity jeans $30
- 4 packs of maternity underwear - $20 - should have been $40+
- 1 pair of black khaki like pants - $12
- 1 tankini top - $7
- 4 maternity t-shirts $35
- 2 dressier shirts - $45
- 1 pair of amazing leggings - $20
- 3 jugs of raspberry lemonade - $6
- Starburst Candy Corn (yum!!) - $4
- some gifts for someone special coming soon....

Baby V didn't get very much, nor did M, but overall we went for maternity clothes and that we got!! Plus I got to show M what I might look like in a few months with the bump simulator. I definitely caught him off guard! haha.

We had Chili's, for lunch and Cheesecake Factory for dinner, oh and for breakfast haha that cake is delish and I barely made a dent in it!!!

We found a stroller we love love love:

Its called a Bumbleride - Indie.

Reasons we love it:
- super lightweight
- folds compact
- compatible with our car seat
- great for all terrain

Oh and it's super cute! I was thinking I would end up getting 2 strollers, one for all terrain and one for shopping/traveling with that was lightweight because most all terrains are heavy and don't fold small. This one had it all!!!

Our trip back home was long!! I guess there was a Buffalo Bills Game on yesterday and that just packed the border right up, plus construction = a very long 1.5 hour wait! We were supposed to get home at 9:30, and arrived at 11 PM!

I was beat! M was beat, and luckily M's parents had let the dogs out in the afternoon when they got home from the lake! We were soo worried about them!

Then poor M slept through his alarm and didn't wake up until after he was supposed to be at work... Good thing he works with his Dad!! Family business perks? LOL!

As for me, I have a lot of organizing to do, something I am not great at! I totally need a personal organizer to come into my home and show me how its done!

Five on Friday

1. My birthday was great!! Nice and low key, dinner and company was perfect. Then we were off to Ms  ball game. Overall it was awesome day!

2. Maternity clothes are pretty awesome! I haven't busted into them, but I know it won't be long! Luckily I have had some handed down to me and oh the comfort!!

12.5 weeks:

And the bump from the front:

Baby loves the right side... I plan to post a first trimester recap around 14 weeks, although can I just say that these apps are confusing? Some say the first trimester ends at 12 weeks and some say 14... So I am going to stick with 14 for my recap. Then I will do weekly bump dates.

3. My beautiful birthday cake I had made! I told her I wanted chevrons and polka dots and she didn't fail to impress me!!

4. It's the long weekend!!! Which means lake time!! We are heading up Sunday/Monday and plan to get stuff done around home on Saturday. I hate leaving the cats for too long as well without having someone come in and check on them!

5. I hope to have met the record for getting up 7 times to pee last night... Yup 7.... I was awake for more than that with my crazy allergies! I'm not even sure what I am reacting to outside but whatever it is - its bad!! Hoping it comes to an end soon!!

Have a great weekend!!

Carrie's Bachlorette

We ended up celebrating Carrie's bachlorette now, instead of closer to the wedding because her sister is moving to BC tomorrow. So we were quick to come up with a plan.

What I wore:
My first high-low skirt finally made it debut!!!

And the feather necklace my sister made for me! Love it!

Unfortunately my plans to curl my hair went out the window.. literally! It was sooo humid my hair was not functioning. I had to gel it down to tame it!

We hit up The Vibe Spa in Mississauga (Toronto area for those who are not familiar with Mississauga). We were there for 4-5 hours snacking, drinking wine and indulging in spa services!

I enjoyed my first pedi of the year!!

I even changed up my go-to-colors and went with an orange!

The bride-to-be and I:

And our pedi-products:

We had a potluck dinner and each took turns decorating inappropriate cupcakes! What is a bachlorette without inappropriate cupcakes? We told her she got off easy with no male strippers!

It was great hanging out my bestie, since I rarely get to see her anymore with her living up north. Now I can't wait for our vacay so we can go visit her up there and hopefully get in some camping!

Fantastic Friday

Thank you for all of your supportive words yesterday!! They have helped in ways I didn't imagine!! I am slowly becoming more comfortable with my new position!

I am seriously loving this weather!! I am looking forward to getting the patio furniture out this weekend!! Not to mention the lawn is ready for it's first cut as well!!

Last night we celebrated my FIL's birthday!! He requested no presents, but sure enough he got a bigger remote control helicopter, therefore M got his early too so they can still fly together!! The ones from Christmas have been repaired a few times, so it will be interesting to see how they do with these! They were seriously like little kids with these helicopters! Loved it!

Did anyone watch Grey's last night? What is with these over dramatic season finales... they get me every time!!

For those who do not have me on instagram... I made my first pillow cover yesterday! After numerous issues with my sewing machine, that involved calling my MIL over come fix and my automatic needle threader to break, that I now need to order a new part for, but I finally got it working!! And voila:

A navy and white chevron pillow cover and believe it or not, but the chevron's match up on the sides!! If I am being honest I am not even sure that happened...

M had his first baseball team in town last night! I wasn't there, but I didn't miss much because they lost! This is the new league he is playing for, referred to as the Boston Pizza Team. That's who they play for!

Tonight he has the first game for the team he is running!! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited!! I love watching his baseball, and it's nice because this team is full of our friends and guys he's been playing with since they were kids!!

Happy weekend friends!!!

MAY is HERE!!

Soo happy that May has arrived!! This means more warm weather and well what can I say... she is starting it off right with a sunny 22!!

This month starts off ball season!!! I love watching me some ball!! It sucks not playing this year, but I will get over it!! M has a game tomorrow night and Friday night!!

I have started a new book after finishing the one I mentioned yesterday! If you missed it, check out the review! You won't want to miss it! I have started The Memory Keeper's Daughter while soaking up the sun in my porch rocker!

Yesterday I braved a new hair dresser and I am not sorry!! I am soo happy with how it turned out!!

Minus the car pic quality... clearly there is some work to do on self portraits! ha!

I am looking forward to enjoying the nice weather May is going to bring! More on that to come!

Also I have my sister in full swing with her jewelry store!! She only has 5 necklaces to make me right now! Can't wait to share her new designs with you all!! And maybe a little give away to kick things off!! What do you think?

What I Am Loving

I figure it has been a while since I have shared my loves lately... so here we go!!

I am loving phase 1 of the kitchen:

I made a new recipe last night that I made up!! Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla's! They were a big hit!! Super easy! M was a little concerned when he realized I wasn't following a recipe, but he enjoyed the finished product!

I am loving my new camera strap!!! And remember you can win one as well! Here is the link to yesterday's post just incase! Trust me you do not want to miss out on this!! Ashley makes amazing straps! This is my second one!!

Here is my first:

And here is what YOU can win:

We have new tenants on our property:

A sweet little robin family!! Love seeing these reminders that spring is here! I also can't wait to watch these guys grow up!!

My lulu lemon headbands came in as well!! Love these!! They actually hold my hair back!!!

I am back to work today... that is not something I am loving...

I am also not loving the tragedy that Boston is going through! What a sick world we live in! My heart breaks for all of those involved, but I am also amazed with how many people risked their own lives to help others out!! That touches my heart and is a good reminder of the good we have in life!

Daylight Savings What?

Is it just me or does everyone hate losing an hours sleep? Luckily I managed to sleep in yesterday! I will admit though I love having the extra hours of daylight! I mean who doesn't like it to be bright out at 7:30 PM? No more driving home from work in the dark!!

Anyways, moving on to our weekend!

Friday night we had dinner and just relaxed for the rest of the evening. I tried watching some movies online, however my computer was being retarded...

Saturday we headed over to the farm to help set up new office furniture. Can I just say it was pretty nice out weather wise. While M was busy building the new desk, I went outside and helped M's Dad out with moving wood from the back of the farm. My ride:

Off to the back we went, M's Dad was heading to the back ahead me in the back hoe and I pulled the trailer behind the tractor.

We loaded the wood into the trailer and that is when M's Dad realized we forgot the gas for the chain saw, so I took the load of wood back up to the barn and then hopped on the quad and took the gas tank to the back of the farm. I decided to rip around on the quad afterwards, stopped in the middle of the field just to take in the beautiful day!

M let the dogs out to play and that is just what we did! They love chasing the quad!!

Especially Gracie - she is pretty much fearless and will come right up to it. I don't know how many time she almost got hit by it.

Then of course I told the dogs that they needed to stay up at the house and stay out of the mud, but nooo they just couldn't resit the mud. So I decided to tromp through the snow, only to find out the further in I got, the deeper the snow got! Knee deep, but Lily thought it was fun!

When we got home we started to organize bags and bags of stuff that we had been procrastinating from in our spare bedroom.

We also signed up for Netflix!!

So I watched the movie L!fe Happens.

It was alright, nothing to write home about.

Sunday it was gorgeous out! As in double digits!! We did some running around in town, worked some more on organizing, did house work, laundry and relaxed. Perfect day, with perfect weather!

I think Spring might just be here!! And this my friends excites me!!

Trying Quinoa/Pinterest Fail

M and I decided to hop on the quinoa band wagon and in my opinion I hopped off right after... Wasn't a big fan!!

We decided that we would try cooking it in the rice cooker and what a mess. Either M put in too much water or too much quinoa and it spilt all over the counter as it was cooking. The smell of cooking it was not all that pleasant either. We tried the littlest bit plain after it was cooked and in all honesty it wasn't horrible, similar to rice I suppose. However we tried a recipe off of Pinterest.

This could probably be one of those post about how Pinterest failed you, because it pretty much did!
This is the recipe we followed:

2 cups cooked quinoa {I cook quinoa in my rice cooker – 1 cup quinoa & 1 1/4 cup chicken broth}
3 eggs
1 cup zucchini, shredded
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup diced ham
1 tablespoon dried parsley
3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
1/2 small onion, diced {about 1/4 cup}
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Olive oil for the pans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix to combine. Generously spray 2 mini muffin tins with olive oil { I use a Misto sprayer} and scoop 1 tablespoon into each cup. I like to use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop for this step. Bake quinoa bites for 18 minutes, or until the edges of the quinoa bites are a nice golden brown. Cool for a few minutes, then remove from pan and eat!

You can find the recipe here.

The only thing I omitted was the zucchini.

I figured this recipe would be a great way to introduce quinoa, however it was just the opposite! All we could really taste was the onion. It pretty much took over the whole taste. It was not good at all!!

M and I still have a bit of quinoa left and we plan to try it again, but most likely we will try it plain!

Do you like quinoa? If so what is your favorite recipe?

Has Pinterest ever let you down?
