Kitchen/Bathroom Renovation Reveal

Ok I finally took the time to photograph the kitchen and bathroom since it was redone in October. I didn't bother photographing the great room yet because I was waiting on my shelving units - which we just got this past week!

So you may recall, we had to get a whole new truss system in the back part of the house. This is what the kitchen looked like before:

And the after photos:

You will notice the bulk head is gone, we added trim to the top of the cupboards for a more finished look, new crown moulding, new lighting, new backsplash, and new paint! There is also new hardware installed since the before photos, but they have been up for a while!

Unfortunately we need to install new floors in there again, as ours are separating slowly ever since the dishwasher leaked! But they will work for now!

Moving on to the bathroom:

Before:

Since these before pics were taken, we have replaced the vanity with a bigger one with granite counters:

The mirror is from the mudroom, I made the new curtains and there is a new light fixture in there, as well as crown moulding. I do miss the dark grey walls, but love the blue! It is the same blue we had in the great room/kitchen before. We also have attic access in there now too!

I plan to paint the vanity a grey, as well as the medicine cabinet.

There you have it! We are in love with the new space!

Weekend Rewind

A busy, chilly weekend it was!!

Friday night M did some drywall/mudding in the bathroom before the water membrane could go up,a s well as wired in the fan. He also hung the book shelves in the nursery!! So of course I filled them up right away!!

Saturday M was off to Orangeville with a rental truck to help move some furniture for his Aunt, while I stayed home and started cooking some freezer meals!! Saturday I made chili for the first time! I ended up getting 4.5 meals out of it! So I was happy with that and it actually tasted really good!

Our tiler came first thing in the morning and dropped off all of his supplies and was back around 1 to put up the membrane. Unfortunately M didnt get home until 2 and missed most of the action. With the membrane up, M was a bit of a stand still as far as working in the bathroom because he couldn't disturb any dust and of course there is more drywall to do!

I actually watched a lot of the Olympics this weekend, which I can honestly say I have never been interested in, but it is some what entertaining!! Go CANADA go!

So we assembled the mobile and hung it, he worked on the lamp while I repacked the diaper bag, sterilized bottles, pacifiers and my breast pump parts, so I could pack that bag too! I also got a lot of laundry done. M ran out of rope yet again for the lamp! So he flipped around the bassinet in the pack and play and added the batteries, since we changed the room around a little bit earlier in the week. We found some time to relax during dinner and watched The Time Travellers Wife on TV.

Sunday we were up early, as A as supposed to come at 8 AM, however he didn't end up coming until 2 PM, so that left time for M to package up the chili, head into town to buy the plumbing parts and more rope, as well as some small jobs left in the nursery like switch plate covers and what not. We got the lasagna started, which I finished later on in the afternoon. The tile went up and I absolutely love it!! What a transformation!!

He comes back Tuesday to grout, so M will have to wait to finish the fan, as he can't cut the outside hole due to dust. So he will work on plumbing for the vanity and lighting in the meantime.

Today I have some running around in town to do, but otherwise I plan to focus on my thank you cards, putting away all the laundry I did on the weekend and crocheting. I still have a few more things I want to make for the freezer, like potatoe casserole and cookie dough, but it's most likely not on the agenda for today!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Things on Thursday

So my Wednesday didn't quite go as planned yesterday.

My new stove was delivered:

She is very pretty! Haven't tried it out yet, but maybe today for lunch!

But the fridge on the other hand has not made it home yet. You can bet I was less than impressed. They only deliver to our area once a week, but after becoming that crazy pregnant lady, I've got it coming on Friday apparently and I have got my delivery fee being returned to me. I would have been more understanding if they had given me a better reason than the guys refused to load it on the tuck in the morning. Great... Thank you. Didn't help that the guy I was dealing with was a jerk to me, which made my polite self turn into the crazy prego! It better be here on Friday!!

Last night we decided to goto Lowes which is about 30 minutes away. We had never been, but wanted to see their selection of tile and flooring, as well as bath tubs. Their tub selection was no good. But we did luck out with buying tile and finding flooring we liked. We would have bought the flooring, but they were out of stock!

Here is what we found:

Excuse the crappy store lighting. I'm in love with the tile. It is a little more beige than the grey I was going for, but I was open to either grey or beige. But I do love it, especially with the driftwood flooring. The vanity will most likely be white. Now we just need to pick out some paint colors, which maybe tonight we will trek into town to Home Depot since we have to return the railing that doesn't fit.

We have our prenatal class on Saturday. We opted for the one day course instead of a few evening courses. Hopefully when it is finished I will have enough energy to go back to Rona and buy a bath tub there, since we liked theirs best! I will be happy to not have to visit a hardware store for a long time after this, as well as have my bathroom looking all pretty and proper!

Today marks 2 months until our due date!! Less than 60 days to go!!

Today I am working hard on getting stuff done around the house, maybe a few sewing projects, along with some organizing. I did start off with tackling a project I have always been meaning to do of or a few years:

This didn't quite go the way I planned and I have yet to get some embellishments! I will post a tutorial once it is done. Consider this a sneak peak!

Aside from the fridge coming tomorrow, which I will have to have M's Mom come over and wait for it because I have my OB appointment in the morning. I think I will stop at Motherhood Maternity or maybe the mall and see if I can find something to wear to my shower. I have no clue what to wear, I don't want to wear jeans, but was considering leggings and maybe a tunic, but even my tunics are getting shorter and shorter now a days. So we will have to see what I can find, but it will be a quick trip!

Happy Thursday Friends!!

Manic Monday

I am stuck at work today... an actual Monday... Wednesday`s are usually my Monday`s!

Anywho. our weekend was pretty good! I failed at the picture taking, but I`m over it!

We had a tragedy at our house this weekend! The robin lost all of her eggs! I feel soo bad for her, but I also know she didn`t put it in the best place! I`m pretty sure a raccoon must be lingering around.. pesky things.

Friday night, I won`t lie I was glued to the TV watching CNN! Even here in Canada I felt a sense of relief for Boston! Soo glad they caught him! I am ever hopeful they will get the answers they need!! Then I played Dr. Mario on the Wii over wifi with my sister! Love that game!

Saturday we went an took down the pool we are getting! It went rather smoothly, just took a lot longer than I expected! I will admit it was weird being in my old house, but it was nice to see all the changes they have made!

Saturday night we hung out with friends, and played Dice Poker. Love that game!!

Sunday I slept in until 9:30 AM, we went for brunch with M`s parents, but stopped at home depot on the way and managed to find THE kitchen hardware! Our marital dispute has been resolved! We finally found the ones and bought them for not a bad price at all! We put some of them up and are happy with how they look! When we get it finished I will snap some pics!

I have my fingers crossed for some nice weather this week so I can get the dogs bathed! I hate having wet dogs in the house, it`s just easier to be able to put them outside!

If you haven`t entered the give away to win this camera strap,

be sure to, it is coming to an end on Wednesday.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

What I Am Loving

I figure it has been a while since I have shared my loves lately... so here we go!!

I am loving phase 1 of the kitchen:

I made a new recipe last night that I made up!! Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla's! They were a big hit!! Super easy! M was a little concerned when he realized I wasn't following a recipe, but he enjoyed the finished product!

I am loving my new camera strap!!! And remember you can win one as well! Here is the link to yesterday's post just incase! Trust me you do not want to miss out on this!! Ashley makes amazing straps! This is my second one!!

Here is my first:

And here is what YOU can win:

We have new tenants on our property:

A sweet little robin family!! Love seeing these reminders that spring is here! I also can't wait to watch these guys grow up!!

My lulu lemon headbands came in as well!! Love these!! They actually hold my hair back!!!

I am back to work today... that is not something I am loving...

I am also not loving the tragedy that Boston is going through! What a sick world we live in! My heart breaks for all of those involved, but I am also amazed with how many people risked their own lives to help others out!! That touches my heart and is a good reminder of the good we have in life!

A Sneak Peek At The Kitchen

Soo remember when I said M had a fire course this past weekend? Well it was cancelled because they had no power!! Soo many people were without power over the weekend! 4 days... flooded basements and all! But we are lucky! The neighbours across the street - not so much:

But on the upside... it is +18!!! Gorgeous out!!

Friday night rolled around and believe it or not my partner and I won the prizes!! I also found this new wine:

Saturday M started to tear up the old kitchen counters...
Here is a look of what used to be:

Retro...

Topless:

Gracie and Lily did fine with it all until the vacuum came out... 2 beds... 2 dogs.. 1 vacuum
Can you guess who hates the vacuum more? Lily!!

We had to make a trip to Costco to buy a faucet and you can't buy a new faucet without a new sink. Right?

Well I didn't the faucet I wanted, and the sink is a bit overkill:

Everyone needs an industrial size sink right?
So we had to get an industrial size faucet too. We named her!

Introducing Farrah:

She is soo big she needed a name!

I told M as long as he does the dished he can pick what we get. Overall not a bad deal right? And the prices were right!

Don't worry that curtain came down!

M didn't finish until 11 PM Saturday night and was back at it Sunday and I am happy to announce we Phase 1 of the Kitchen Reno is done!! I will get a pic up of it soon!

M took me to the farm store on Sunday as well because he needed new coveralls for work, so I found these for myself!

Some nice new rain boots!! Its soo muddy at the farm I think they will come in handy!

I got a call today from the vet and Lily's blood work came out excellent!! We were all surprised!! Our vet is going to talk it over with an internist and see if we can cut back on some meds!! I almost feel relieved!!

Thoughts On Thursday

What a "lovely" ice storm we are getting...

We all survived the vet appointment. We are waiting for some blood work on Lily, which will hopefully come with good results!! Now we need to work on losing some puppy pounds!! Not that my vet is concerned, but it would be nice!

Gracie is still being a pin head... she is just soo darn stubborn when she wants to be... instead of walking through door ways she runs... like she has some sort of door anxiety or is too excited to go through them. So we are working on curbing that behavior by using a leash on her when going through doorways...

Insert stubborn face....

Moving on to the kitchen counters... we have them... in the garage! Not sure when they are going to be in the kitchen!! Mike has the rest of his fire course this weekend. So he told me to go buy a faucet... this is what I am thinking:

Oh and it's on sale!! Save 45%!! I'm just a sale shopper, what can I say? I love a good deal!

Well I need to go organize my bedroom... the new duvet will be premiering, as well as clothes being folded and put away. I know it sounds fun...

High Five Yo

Hello Friday!!!

Hello Weekend!!

I'm sure I am not the only one who has been patiently awaiting your arrival!!

 photo H54Fbutton-triangle_zps678b65ba.jpg

1. Our counter top are in... as in the garage... we haven't quite figured out when we will install them because M is at a firefighting course this weekend and next, but we may do it throughout the week! We don't really know how hard/easy it is, but we are excited be rid of the ghetto counters!!

2. I off to Buffalo, NY this weekend with my sister!! Can't wait to get my shopping on!! TJ Maxx, Target, Old Navy, Macy's, Hobby Lobby, Joanne's, Burlington Coat Factory, Kohls, outlet malls and many many more here we come!!! And I cannot wait to dine at The Cheese Cake Factory... I have only heard how good it is!

3. Spring just might be slowing arriving! We have finally found above zero temps!!

A few things that kind of suck:

- putting Vicks on your nose right before bed and then forgetting which hand you used to apply it. rubbing your eye is not recommended!!... note to self it STINGS!!

- This is the first time since the night before our wedding that M and I will have been apart overnight before!! That is 5 years, 8 months and 16 days. 2086 days!!! Crazy eh? If I am being honest I am a little sad about it!!

Spring DIY

Life and Times of Alison and Justin

Today I will sharing some projects I plan to complete this spring!

As I have mentioned the kitchen counters. We actually found an old sample we had liked a while ago and guess what... it was the same color/name/brand! Glad to know we liked it from the start!

I plan to make a new spring wreath and I finally found a tutorial for one!! Here it is:

Pinned Image

I don't have a foam wreath though, I have one of those twiggy wreathes, so I might twist the burlap around instead and add some spring colors to it. We shall see what my creativity creates!

I also plan to make some pillows with my new fabric:

I plan to make this for my kitchen window, obviously not with elephants...

I also have a lot of clothes to take in and I found this tutorial:

We also need to paint our planters with chalkboard paint as I mentioned the other day.

Lot's of projects on the go!!
