John Mann has described Geoff Hoon & Patricia Hewitt as "pompous idiots", he said that Geoff Hoon wanted to get on the EU "gravy train" and something along the lines that that Patricia Hewitt had been working in the public sector using the contacts she'd made in government; the Sky interviewer tried to get him to row back on this but Mr Mann declined. He also used the epithet "pathetic" to describe Hoon and Hewitt.

"At lot of these candidates don't get it at all," he told Sky News.

"It was the gentlemen's club at its worst. None of them have got a strong reforming agenda. Some of the speeches were shocking, after what we have been through recently."
