Queen of Hearts [3M]

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas or holiday.
Today a new challenge from the Three Muses -Queen of Hearts.
I've done a new digital collage from old stuff I had. This queen was free hand machine stitching.

Also on the collage is a playing card, an altered playing card, drawing of queen and a drawing of a heart which was a brooch.
Some years ago I did this 3D piece which included a queen of hearts.
And as she was surrounded by tarts she became known by a new name..

Bird [3M]

Three Muses challenge - Bird.
I wrote the words 'dog eared' because the birds wings are actually dog's ears which I cut from a found image of a dog. The rest is pen and watercolours.

Turquoise

Three Muses challenge - turquoise.
I like the colour turquoise.
The background was created digitally and the swirling pattern was paint - I made a stamp from wallpaper.

Frames

These three collages are from sketchbook 16, I chose these pages to enter this weeks Three Muses challenge - Frames.
The backgrounds are textured with magazine/newspaper and painted with watercolours. The images were found in magazines and additional decorating with pens.

Owl Couple [TM] and Flowers [SC]

The Three Muses challenge this week is couples/pairs or partners. I found the image of the owl couple but gave them accessories and put them on a hand painted page [watercolours]

The Sketchbook Challenge this month is flowers - I often draw/paint flowers and here is a selection of the latest

Art in the Round [3M]

I found three pictures in my sketchbook I thought would be suitable for the Three Muses challenge - Art in the round.
The collage above has a watercolour background and found images of a bird and frog.
Below are doodles done with promarker pens

Torso Tags and Turquoise [TAW]

Take a Word - the challenge this week is the colour turquoise.
I upcycled this image of a kingfisher from an old calendar and placed it on a painted background.
A week or so ago the challenge on Three Muses was for torso tags, a bit late I know, but it is the first time I've made any of these. The torso shape is a 1905 vintage ladies corset and drawers and was part of a page of white wear. Most of the images I used on them were from the Graphics Fairy

Tast 7, Outside the Frame, Alphabet

Take a Stitch Tuesday - this week's stitch is detached chain or lazy daisy stitch and this is my rather untidy sample. I've used patches of vintage fabrics, some transfer printed lace, a little painted fabric and a beaded fringe with large sequins on the end.
The Three Muses challenge is 'Outside the frame - Birds' and I was thinking outside the cage for some reason and started something with that in mind, eventually it dawned on me - frame not cage. I have used one of my collaged paintings and added the frame digitally [frame from Graphics Fairy, birds and rabbit are found images from magazines]

There was an 'alphabet' challenge on Inspiration Avenue a few weeks ago and I meant to post these but I never got around to it. The top one is all drawn with promarker pens and the bottom one is a collage.

OO LA LA [TM]

Three Muses challenge - OO LA LA
The background is Paris of course, a photo I took when I was there, the lovers are from a book of archive images. I thought you might also like to see this photo of a very large sculpture which I also saw in Paris.

TAST and 3M

The stitch for Take a Stitch Tuesday is Feather Stitch. I've used a patchwork of vintage fabrics and transfer printed lace [not sure the green works]. This will be a page in a fabric journal eventually.

The Three Muses challenge is Animal Kingdom. This is a painting from one of my sketchbooks, I had quilting in mind when I did the background. I call him Snooty Bear.

One of my drawings on one of my photos [altered of course]

Tis the Season [TM] and C&G Books/Quilts

Take your pick - I did two for The Three Muses challenge - Tis the season

Below is some old City & Guilds work. The top two images are books, for the top one I painted on fabric and covered a big file, the lower one is a handmade book.
The two images at the bottom are little quilts made with hand painted fabrics. All four items were inspired by tigers.

Window [TM]

Three Muses challenge - window
The broken window is an altered photo.  I took the original picture, shown below a few years ago. The sky is also a photo and the lovely bird is from Graphics Fairy.

Below is a covered book [A3] for keeping research on a C&G project. I painted fabric before covering,  the project was about animal skins.

Vintage Collage/Memories and End of Sketchbook 9

The Three Muses challenge is Vintage Collage/Memories and I have to confess the two above that I am showing are old ones but I do still like to look at them. They are actually part of an altered book, a vintage sewing book, which had some informative and very amusing pages in it. The face in the top collage is my grandma who died in 1993 and the girl in the lower collage is my big sister as a tot in the fifties so they do bring back memories.

Below are the last pages of sketchbook 9

Wings and Web

 Three Muses challenge - wings
The sky and squatting man are my photos - the man is a wooden sculpture and was seen in the Chocolate Museum in Bruges, he's sipping hot chocolate and gazing at the world. His wings are part of a butterfly from The Graphics Fairy as are the toadstool and bird and insect, both of course with wings.
I thought I would also share this old piece of art, from a C&G project as it also has butterfly wings, not very good ones I may add, I prefer the web background to which they are attached.
