TAST 18 and Molly Drawing

This weeks stitch is 'crossed buttonhole'. I've just realised, looking at the photo that I didn't finish off a row of stitching at the top. The background was a piece of fabric I had printed on the gel printing plate, then painted - but it is the wrong side as I preferred it, the colour was too strong on the right side. There is also dyed and transfer printed laces, beads, sequins. The rosette is an upcycled item I made on another project, I just added the beads and French knots around the middle for this journal page. I don't think I have done this stitch before and I will confess that to start with I was getting in a muddle, but once I sorted it/me out I think it is an easy stitch to do. I like a photo I had taken of Molly so I thought I would do a drawing of it.

Tast 6 and Transfer Printed Lace

This weeks stitch for Take a Stitch Tuesday is Chevron Stitch.
Once again my sample will be part of a fabric journal. On this page I have used some vintage fabric, painted/stamped paper, painted aida, transfer printed lace and ribbon and a metal washer. I have used cotton perle threads and stranded cotton. I don't like using stranded cotton, it always looks messy when I've finished, I think my stitching becomes more untidy the older I get! [TAST 2010]
Below are some transfer printed laces. Last time I used my transfer paints some had dried up so I thought I had better start using them more often before they are unusable. I also did some fabrics which I'll show another time.

TAST and 3M

The stitch for Take a Stitch Tuesday is Feather Stitch. I've used a patchwork of vintage fabrics and transfer printed lace [not sure the green works]. This will be a page in a fabric journal eventually.

The Three Muses challenge is Animal Kingdom. This is a painting from one of my sketchbooks, I had quilting in mind when I did the background. I call him Snooty Bear.

More Doodle Ribbons and Lace

Continuing from the last post - If you want ribbons with a more delicate pattern use transfer paints instead of crayons. These can be applied to the paper with a very fine brush. If you want text remember to paint the words on in reverse.
Besides ribbons you could also use other items to print on such as nylon lace or elastic. For the samples below I used transfer crayons and I did them very quickly, they could be better if more time was spent on them.
