I got the idea of using lace to decorate baubles from Pinterest. I decided to add the year too, the numbers were cut from fun foam.

Trees and Lace Landscape
It's been a long time since I painted on canvas but I got the urge after seeing the work of Elf2mani on Pinterest. I started by trying to copy it but then went in my own direction so it doesn't look exactly the same [I wouldn't know how to do it the same anyway]. Check out her work, she combines various items and fabrics in her work, there are some lovely pictures with spoons.
Detail showing some of the lace. The other bits of texture were made from a painting brush - the painted outer edge of the handle crumbled away while I was using it so used those bits too.

Flowers and Lace
The flower heads were upcycled from an old top. I've added various lace lengths and embroidery on a layered background. The embroidery includes running stitch, fancy hem stitch and lock stitch.

Embroidery and Lace Pictures
I used little 6"x 4" canvases for these little pictures, collaged pages from a gardening book and used Liquitex Inks to colour.
I revisited Pintangle [Take a Stitch Tuesday] to remind myself how to to do some of the embroidery stitches I have done in the past. Sharon is showing how to do embroidery stitches again if you wish to join in.
Above - Raised herringbone band, running stitch.
Slipped detached chain stitch, cross stitch.
Fancy hem stitch, running stitch.
Up and down feather stitch, running stitch.
I shall include these on Simply Neutrals Tuesday, do pop along to see more.

Wedding Heart
I was at a wedding on Friday. I made this heart as a keepsake for them, various laces, embroidery and beads. I chose yellow/lemon as that was the theme - the bridesmaids wore yellow, the groom and men wore yellow waistcoats and ties and there were yellow flowers in the brides and bridesmaid's bouquets, buttonholes, table decorations etc.
The bride wore a lovely beaded lace gown, here is a close up of the bodice.

Fifty Shades of White
I used all kinds of fabrics to make this, lace, doyleys, fabric samples, old tablecloth, embroidery samples, handkerchief, vertical blind samples etc
They were all hand stitched [running stitch] to a white background fabric.
I think it looks better in real life but you can get a better look by clicking on the images.
I'm thinking of making a cushion cover with it unless I come up with another idea.

TAST 133
Take a stitch Tuesday - Triple chain stitch
Stitched on aida - does it look different to normal aida? It has two layers of coloured organza and a layer of net on top of the aida but below the stitching. Painted lace, more organza underneath on top of hand painted fabric.
And some personal news - my son and his girlfriend came back from a trip to New York engaged. It's taken him a while to propose, I think it is eleven years they've been going out together. The strange thing is, when I put my hand in the bag of potatoes to make dinner I came out with a heart shaped potato. How weird is that?

Lace Hearts
I've been invited to two weddings in September so I've made a heart for each couple.
Different laces on a cotton silk background with hand embroidered lettering and a loop for hanging.

Button Book - part 6
The background was an inkjet print on glossy paper which I have had in a drawer for ages. I did some experiments on it with a liquid, water I think. It is also upside down, by mistake. I used vintage text for the art button.
More vintage images for these buttons and a thread wrapper. A painted receipt and squared paper with painted lace on top. Ribbon was applied and an image from a magazine was stitched to the background.
An inkjet print of some artwork [do you remember the A4 art quilt? - this was the original drawing for it]. I made the carrot buttons from card.
A giant button made from covered card.
