Parallel Pen Drawings

I've not used my parallel pens for sometime, the ink all gone so I gave them a good clean and put in new cartridges. Above is my first practise sheet after cleaning.

Parallel pens are made by Pilot, the nib is made up of two parallel plates between which the ink flows. Nibs of different sizes are available as well as coloured cartridges. They are used for calligraphy but as you can see I use them for drawing.

I coloured this rose in with watercolours.

Butterfly

Paper strip, white sticker, inktense pencils, aquamarkers, and a real flower.

Bird Collage

Stamped background [bubble wrap], recycled envelope bird, postage stamp excess, brusho inks, aquamarkers, pearl ex powdered pigments. It has a metallic shimmer to the background which you can't really see on the photo.

Seahorse Collage

The sea horse was cut from a used envelope again. I also used aquamarkers and brusho.

Cat Collage

I recycled envelopes for the cat and flowers and the flower pot and fish was made from the back of a receipt. Coloured with Brusho and Aquamarkers.

Pages from my Sketchbook [Historically Inspired]

This tree illustration was based on an early medieval design, a stylised tree from a manuscript.

The face was taken from a motif on Anglo Saxon metalwork. The hair and beard is my addition, makes it look like a lion.

The bird shapes are from an early manuscript.

Cat

I used a hand made stamp [made from a old nail buffer block] on the background.

Pen liner, aquamarkers and brusho.

Elephant Collage

I used the recycled envelopes [insides] for the elephant and bushes. Coloured with brusho and aquamarkers.

Dog and Swan, Pages from my Sketchbook

A page of text was collaged to the sketchbook then coloured with brusho. I drew the dog on top with aquamarkers and posca pens.

The lower half of the 'swan' was a found image, the top half was drawn on. I used brusho, aquamarkers, pen liner and posca pens.
