Embroidered Bird

I've enhanced a bird I painted a few weeks ago with hand embroidery, I used running stitch with different coloured threads.
Below is the bird without stitching. I think I used a stamp for the general outline then filled in the rest with a brush. Brusho and Manutex.

Dog and Swan, Pages from my Sketchbook

A page of text was collaged to the sketchbook then coloured with brusho. I drew the dog on top with aquamarkers and posca pens.

The lower half of the 'swan' was a found image, the top half was drawn on. I used brusho, aquamarkers, pen liner and posca pens.

Spring Flower Collage

A Sketchbook Collage
The houses with numbers were cut from an old magazine, an embroidery pattern - the numbers indicate what colour to sew with. I just coloured it in with aquamarkers. I drew the vases of flowers on top with a liner pen. The background was coloured with brusho.

Tulip Collage

I used a photo copy of some text, Caran Dache watercolour crayons, Aquamarkers, Brusho and liner pen.
This is the last page of sketchbook 20, it is a 'pink pig' book and I like the size of it - 16.5"x 8". The aquamarkers seem to work better in this book than the other smaller one I have on the go. That one is not a pink pig book, it was cheaper but perhaps it is better to pay a bit extra for one with better quality paper.

Collage in a sketchbook. I started with a drawing of drawers, below, then applied the collage elements - text from a silk painting instruction sheet and pattern pieces from a magazine.
I used brusho and aquamarkers for colour.

Napkin Collage and Beamish

Collage in a sketchbook. I had some really pretty napkins I just had to use in a collage. Also vintage book pages and brusho inks.

We have been dog minding this week and yesterday we found ourselves at Beamish and there happened to be an agricultural festival going on. We saw some big dicky birds...wow

some alpacas
and lots of scarecrows

Molly seemed ok with most of the animals but she did take a dislike to one particular horse.
Photos taken with my husbands phone as I didn't take my camera.

One mixed media collage from a sketchbook above.
Brusho, found images from a vintage book, aquamarkers.
And one digital collage created on a tablet. I used the brushes in the sketchbook pro app for the backgrounds, but the patterns on the clothes were my worked my me, altered photos, you can tell his top was originally knitting.

Embroidery/Mixed Media/New Camera

Trying out a couple of close ups with my new camera on an embroidered picture on the wall.

And a page from my sketchbook - I collaged scraps from a gardening book, used brusho inks to paint over, drew the tree with neocolour crayons and a posca pen for the red details

Letter Madness

A friend gave me some old letraset sheets so as you can see I've been messing about with them. The letters are a bit temperamental and don't transfer sometimes and never on some surfaces. They worked better in this book than in the other sketchbook I'm also working in.

China and Dolls

Two pages from my tall sketchbook.
Above, collage -a torn page from a book about China, and a found image. I used brusho inks, metallic and other pastels.
Below, another drawing from the 'culture' project. I used 2 card cut outs of 'Russian dolls' and used them both for each figure, one inside the other. Pen liner and aquamarkers.

Leaves and Honesty

The sketchbook challenge - Into the woods.
Background paper - oil pastels, wax crayons, metallic crayons, caran d'ache water soluble crayons, brusho inks.
Layered envelopes with real plants [painted] trapped under the envelope window, stitching.

I have some honesty plants in my garden and I thought this particular specimen looked more colourful than normal, the seed pods are tinged with pink.

Trees - Mixed Media

Inspired by the challenge set by the sketchbook challenge - Into the woods.
I used recycled envelopes for the tree branches and bits of ripped up envelope and wrapping paper confined under the window of an envelope. To colour I used Brusho inks and wax crayons.
Another photo of this page and the window area looks blank.

I collaged a page from a vintage book into the sketchbook [this is a long sketchbook- 16" x 7.5"].
I drew the trees with wax crayons and then over painted with Brusho inks.
Click on the images to see a closer view of the texture

I went to Washington Old Hall [UK] last week with my friends, I liked the view of the hall behind these plants [I'm not sure what the plants are]
