Cream Crazy Patch

I'm calling this patch cream although it includes other colours, various browns and whites.
I've used shells, parts of necklaces and wooden beads as well as 'normal' beads and sequins. I've not used patterned fabrics on this one just fabrics with different textures plus lace, ribbon, ric-rac  and cut work fabric and of course lots of embroidery

I think the mistake I may have made with this patch is sewing beads to close to the edge, I think I will have problems when I sew the seams.

Finished Green Crazy Patch

Looking at Queeniepatch's blog yesterday gave me a reminder that I hadn't posted images of my crazy patch that I finished a couple of weeks ago.
Sharon Boggon gives lots of tips in her book The Visual Guide to Crazy Quilting Design and one of the tips was to use plastic canvas to help keep your stitching even and straight. I didn't have any so some of my stitching is not neat and regular although it's not as noticeable to me now that the block is finished.  I did try using some tapestry canvas and it did work to some extent although the count was smaller so two squares were equal to one on the plastic canvas. I also found my marks were getting rubbed off as I worked. The ribbon roses [light green] are very small as I only had one length and I didn't want to run out before the end of the row. I've been working on another patch which I started last week.

Green Crazy Patch

I bought a new book recommended by Queeniepatch called The Visual Guide to Crazy Quilting Design by Sharon Boggon which is very informative and which inspired me to have a go at an embroidered patch. I have done crazy quilting before but not with lots of embroidery decoration.
My plain block is shown above and I started the embroidery on one of the short corners below.
The author of the book, Sharon Boggon also has the website called pintangle where you will find the 'Take a Stitch Tuesday' challenge which is excellent for learning embroidery stitches each week.

Quilting/Patchwork Fabric Book

I wanted to make something with some of my quilting and patchwork samples but as they are all so different I didn't think they would go together. I made another book instead and it's not the best book I've ever made but it keeps the samples together. There are a few samples that I didn't use so I may make something with those one day.
The Q and P were cut from a hand quilted sample which had been painted.
Top - Somerset patchwork.
Bottom - Court House Steps [thanks Queeniepatch for reminding me what it is called]
I think I did this one for a cushion originally, but ....
Top - Applique on log cabin patchwork [plus an extra thread which I didn't notice when I took the photo]
Bottom - English paper piecing, hand stitched [it must be old, the stitches are tiny lol]
Top - Log cabin patchwork
Triangle - Embroidered, slashed, layered, stuffed, frayed
Crazy patchwork
Suffolk puffs with dyed fabrics, beaded, string
Shadow quilting
Log Cabin patchwork
Top - Italian quilting or Corded quilting
Bottom - Trapunto or stuffed quilting [painted]
Hand quilting
Top left - Patchwork
Top right - painted or stamped flower, hand stitched
Bottom - layered, machine stitched
Art Quilt - texture paint, paint, hand stitching, machine stitching

I thought I had used all my old embroidery samples in fabric books but I found some more today so there may be another book one day.

Ten Baby Bibs

I've used vintage fabrics on six of them, some very old.....I had a dress made with one of the fabrics when I was a child......and that is a long time ago.
I used a bib pattern by nana company.

Crazy Patchwork Apron 2

Another crazy patchwork apron made from vintage scraps. This time I stitched the pieces onto a used white apron which was probably a mistake as the apron shape is not perfect and there were extra problems with the straps already being fixed. Still it's done even if it is wonky in places.

Crazy Patchwork Apron

I've been in the vintage fabric scraps drawer again, this time I made an apron. I just used whatever I picked up rather than using any colour coordination resulting in a very multi coloured apron.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Green 2

If you've been following my blog you may think you saw this a few days ago but it is a different bag. I used similar fabrics but patched in a different way and with different embroidery stitches.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Blue

The second bag made from vintage tweed, coat and cord fabrics.
Many of embroidery stitches I found on Take a stitch Tuesday [TAST] at pintangle.
You will also find tips on crazy patchwork if you fancy having a go.

The other side is just patchwork, no embroidery.

Crazy Patchwork Bag - Green

I made bags for gifts for my arty friends, this is one of them. One side is crazy patchwork, the other side is crazy patchwork and embroidery. I used thick coat fabrics, tweeds and cords - all vintage.
