Doodlewash and Sewing

Doodlewash
19 - Decorate, 20 - Pumpkin, 21 - Grin

Sewing
I was looking through some drawers and found a couple of old fabric samples of a design I created at college many years ago. Part of it was pleated so I took advantage of that and made a little apron.

And I also made some dribble bibs from purchased fabric.

And it's Friday so that means it is Paint Party Friday!

Dress Apron and Glass Bird

This is a design I did at college many years ago and I had it printed on a linen type fabric in a dress shape for a display. I found the sample recently and thought I would make it into an apron. I sewed it to a background fabric to make the sides a bit bigger. It isn't the best thing I've ever made and it certainly needs ironing!

My sister and mother were staying last week so I didn't do a lot of creative work. We went around a garden centre with a big Christmas display and I saw this bird which I thought would be nice for any time of year hanging against the window with the light catching the shapes.

Denim Apron and Tiny Purses

A denim apron I made from old jeans.
I made two purses from a 8"swatch of faux suede Spoonflower fabric, one of my designs. The pictures show both sides of each. I wanted a small purse to keep a credit card and a bit of loose change in but unfortunately these are a little too small. The credit card would fit in them, the problem is getting it in!

Crazy Patchwork Apron 2

Another crazy patchwork apron made from vintage scraps. This time I stitched the pieces onto a used white apron which was probably a mistake as the apron shape is not perfect and there were extra problems with the straps already being fixed. Still it's done even if it is wonky in places.

Crazy Patchwork Apron

I've been in the vintage fabric scraps drawer again, this time I made an apron. I just used whatever I picked up rather than using any colour coordination resulting in a very multi coloured apron.

Gifts from my Friends.

I went out for a meal with my arty friends and came back with lots of lovely gifts!
From Gill I got a fabric box, a pincushion and a vintage book. The pin cushion has a ring at the side so that it can be either hung up on a wall or used on a flat surface.
Lovely braid.

From Helen I got an apron with a row of appliqued Russian dolls.
There is a stuffed doll that is detachable, this is a pin cushion.

From Marian two fabric boxes, new places to put my bits and bobs. Some of this fabric has Russian dolls on it too.
And a lovely fabric with quotes...

From Vicky, a laser cut wooden reindeer which is a snazzy washi tape holder.
There is a lovely tape with postage stamps on it. The book with a silver reendeer on the front has squared paper within.

I've got some clever and talented friends eh?
I'll show what I gave next time.

Easy Apron

I made an apron out of a tea towel and two metres of tape. Just cut off the two top corners, fold over the edge twice and stitch in place. Sew on some tape at the top to go around your neck and two at the sides to tie around you.
My butterfly tea towel was from All Tea Towels.
The picture below shows the two pieces I cut off the tea towel.

Embroidered Apron

Another item I did late last year was an apron, I didn't actually make the apron from scratch, but I did the embroidery and beading on it. I drew cakes/buns/muffins on paper, cut them out and arranged them on the apron, then I drew around them with a fabric marker and then followed the marks with thread.
