Rabbit Collages and Cakes

Two bunny collages - watercolour and wax crayon backgrounds, found images of rabbits. The insect on the above was a later digital addition [from the Graphics Fairy]

Some of my arty friends came around today and Helen brought me and another friend a surprise gift each of a card and a dish of cakes she had made. Helen does not like cakes with sponge in them to eat herself, but she enjoys baking them, so aren't we the lucky ones. Don't they look lovely?

Teddy Bears Picnic, Cakes, Wolf and a Poem

Three paintings from sketchbook 12
Can you spot the frog in the picture above and below?

There is no frog with the wolf, maybe he gobbled one up [do they eat frogs?]

I was sent this poem by email, thought it was cute, about a grandma and computer

 The computer swallowed grandma.
 Yes, honestly it’s true!
 she pressed 'control' and 'enter'
 And disappeared from view.
 It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.
I've searched through the recycle bin
 And files of every kind;
 I've even used the Internet,
 But nothing did I find.
 In desperation, I asked Jeeves
 My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online.'
 So, if inside your 'Inbox,'
 My Grandma you should see,
Please 'Copy, Scan' and  'Paste' her
And send her back to me.

This is a tribute to all  the Grandmas and Grandpas who have been fearless and learned to use the computer.........
 They are the  greatest!!!

 We do not stop playing because we grow old;
We grow old because we stop playing  ...

NEVER Be The First To Get Old!

Coffee [TAW]

Take a Word - this weeks challenge is 'coffee'
The coffee adverts were from a book entitled 'How it all began in the pantry'. The figures were from the book 'Women: a pictorial archive from Nineteenth century sources'.
The background, cups, cakes are my drawings.

This weeks Illustration Friday challenge is 'scattered'. I used an older drawing but have altered it digitally and scattered shapes from the trees onto the ground, like leaves. Topical too as this is what is happening outside at the moment, that is leaves falling from the trees not shapes.
I said a few weeks ago that I had a sort out in the loft and some of the things I found were from my City & Guilds embroidery course. I've enjoyed looking through the stuff, quite funny some of it like this plate of cakes. We were given the bronze coloured metallic scourer to do something creative with and I came up with cakes.

Another strange item was this, can you guess what it is before I tell you?

there are lots of fabric strands..... and beads, sequins and some paper beads too

not forgetting embroidery

Below is a photograph, its not a very good picture as it is a photo of an old photo. But it is a seaweed covered rock, and that was my inspiration for the above piece. Did you guess?

Embroidered Apron

Another item I did late last year was an apron, I didn't actually make the apron from scratch, but I did the embroidery and beading on it. I drew cakes/buns/muffins on paper, cut them out and arranged them on the apron, then I drew around them with a fabric marker and then followed the marks with thread.

Flowers and Cakes

The flowers included herbs, like rosemary.
The wedding cakes were 2 large hearts, named and edged with cupcakes. Between these was a cheese cake, or rather a cheese tower. I didn't make the cakes this time.
I did start a new project yesterday but it didn't go to plan, hopefully I'll have a better creative day tomorrow.

Time for Tea

Another picture from the 'Layers' exhibition.
A vintage tablecloth was used for the background which was painted in some areas. The table, chairs etc were painted & outlined with coloured watercolour pencil. Individual cakes etc - paint & hand embroidery, mini buttons, beads. The items were applied to the background. Wadding & backing fabric applied. Quilting/stitching around all items & on wc pencil line. The 'wallpaper' on background was hand quilted. Wrapped around a frame. Size 50x70cm
This one was even harder to stitch in places than the canvas one posted a few days ago [Early Bird] as there were more layers to go through. I had to use pliers in one or two places it was so stiff but my fingers have recovered!

This is the original doodle that inspired the above
