Crochet and Drawings

I decided to take up crochet recently. I have done crochet years ago when I made lots of granny squares for a blanket but I've never followed a pattern before. I'm making a toy bunny for my expected Grandchild in May. I'm thinking maybe I should have made something straight/easier because there is lots of adding stitches and reducing stitches and some bits are small and fiddly. The yellow yarn is old yarn I had been practicing on. You wouldn't believe the number of times I had to undo it and start again but I think I've got the hang of it now. Basically I just wasn't reading correctly what was on the page.

Drawings of Moai and Reindeer

I went away to Lisbon and Sintra in Portugal for a few days over the New Year. I was going to post a few photos but I accidentally deleted all 450+ them [don't ask]. They are still on my phone so I'll upload them again.
The above is a drawing of the moai or statues of Easter Island.
Below are drawings of deer copied from the book '20 Ways to Draw a Cat and 44 other awesome animals' by Julia Kuo.
I think I've drawn most of the deer before, perhaps I should find the old sketchbook out to see if I've improved my drawing skills or got worse?

Reindeer

My plan was to post about a workshop I attended on Saturday, but I shall have to leave it until tomorrow. I was sorting through the photos...... I have photos of everyone's work except mine.
The reindeer above was created on my tablet.

Big Nose Reindeer, SPA - Angel, Collage

The reindeer was drawn on the tablet. [Samsung Galaxy Note]

The postcard, also digital was done for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge - Tiny Angel.
The woman has a tiny angel in her hands [click on the image for a better view]. I used a vintage postcard for the background. The woman's clothes and her background are my designs/art work. The angel was from the Graphics Fairy.

It's a long time since I've used a 'real' sketchbook, I did this last week but forgot about it. The sections with the birds are pieces of wrapping paper. I used letraset aquamarkers for the tree.

Tree and Santa's Little Helper

Tree, angel and reindeer are images from the Graphics Fairy and the baubles are from a photo I took myself.

Snowflake Design and Christmas Trees

This is the fabric design I have done for Spoonflower's snowflake contest. I know a snowflake should have six points - but this developed from a doodle and I thought it looked like a snowflake so I used it. I have noticed that the BBC are using an eight pointed snowflake this year......
Voting is on now. This link works for me for all the snowflake entries, hope it does for you, but if not - go to the Spoonflower site and look for the weekly contest.

We got a new artificial tree this year, the old one fell down last year... it is very old. This one looks nice when the lights are on, more of them show up than they did on the last tree.

This is a reindeer I've had for a while which I like, one shot taken with the flash and one without.

This is my new tree ornament this year, a cute squirrel.

My son gave me the tree below to put in the conservatory. I was actually thinking of not having a tree at all this year, but now I have two.

Gifts from my Friends.

I went out for a meal with my arty friends and came back with lots of lovely gifts!
From Gill I got a fabric box, a pincushion and a vintage book. The pin cushion has a ring at the side so that it can be either hung up on a wall or used on a flat surface.
Lovely braid.

From Helen I got an apron with a row of appliqued Russian dolls.
There is a stuffed doll that is detachable, this is a pin cushion.

From Marian two fabric boxes, new places to put my bits and bobs. Some of this fabric has Russian dolls on it too.
And a lovely fabric with quotes...

From Vicky, a laser cut wooden reindeer which is a snazzy washi tape holder.
There is a lovely tape with postage stamps on it. The book with a silver reendeer on the front has squared paper within.

I've got some clever and talented friends eh?
I'll show what I gave next time.
