Blackwork

I thought these simple blackwork scenes would make nice decoration for cards.

TAST 133

Take a stitch Tuesday - Triple chain stitch
Stitched on aida - does it look different to normal aida? It has two layers of coloured organza and a layer of net on top of the aida but below the stitching. Painted lace, more organza underneath on top of hand painted fabric.

And some personal news - my son and his girlfriend came back from a trip to New York engaged. It's taken him a while to propose, I think it is eleven years they've been going out together. The strange thing is, when I put my hand in the bag of potatoes to make dinner I came out with a heart shaped potato. How weird is that?

Beaded Lock Stitch

Take a stitch Tuesday [TAST 131]
Three variations of beaded lock stitch. Stitched on an aida band with cotton pearl threads.
I think I should have straightened the beads out a bit on the left hand row before taking the photo, they're supposed to be opposite each other.
Join in the challenge at Pintangle or see more embroidery.

Colouring Challenge & Free Embroidery Pattern

The above is for a colouring challenge by Letraset. I used Promarkers and Faber-Castell brush pens. You download an image they provide, colour it in, then enter it in the challenge to win a prize. Details here.

When I was sorting through a drawer I came across an old embroidery pattern I had drawn years ago and one of the designs was the above. I've stitched it on aida fabric [the fabric you would use for cross stitch] but it could also be stitched on plain fabric. If you are new to embroidery it is easy to stitch on aida and to follow the graph, as the aida is a bit like graph paper. You may copy the pattern to use, click on the image to enlarge.

cushion sampler

This started out as a sampler of stitches and and I used it as the centre of a cushion for a few years. More recently it was converted to a small cushion with a 'smelly' filling. I had watched a TV program called 'Growing your own drugs' {I think} & a tip for sleepless nights was a pillow filled with hops [to make you drowsy] & lavender [to disguise the smell]. It still smells awful!!! It may be converted into something else soon!
