Friday Catch Up - 7Jan22

Sketchbook Revival New Year Challenge with daily prompts from Sarah Simon

Day 1 - Ranunculus - continuous pen line drawing

Day 2 - Cosmos - coloured pencil sketch

Day 3 - Rose - pencil and fine line pen drawing

I thought I would paint one too

Day 4 - Lily - Dip pen and ink
I used Dr P H Martin Bombay Inks

I tried painting with the inks but they don't blend like watercolours

Day 5 [last day] Dahlia - Mixed Media
I used pencil, eraser!, pen, watercolours and Inktense blocks and pencils.
I found this flower the biggest challenge, I kept losing my place and I'm sure a lot of the petals are in the wrong place. But I don't think I would have attempted copying a dahlia flower before this.

Inktober 2017

I'm joining in with the Inktober challenge again this year. The challenge is to do one ink drawing each day. There is a prompt list if you need ideas. More details can be found here and here

I've decided to follow the prompt list but I'm not sure it is a good idea because I do the quickest drawings and they are not looking too good as you can see below.

1. swift

2. Divided

3. Poison

4. Underwater

5. Long
[I used a Pilot Parallel Pen for the last two drawings]

Victorian Inspired Silhouettes

I thought I would join the challenge at Inspiration Avenue - a Kodak Moment.
[My challenge to you is to create an artistic piece that captures your idea of a "Kodak Moment."]

What came to mind was early Victorian photography and the silhouettes they used to do. I've altered photos taken from the side and put them in frames from the Graphics Fairy. The butterflies background was also from there too.

OO LA LA [TM]

Three Muses challenge - OO LA LA
The background is Paris of course, a photo I took when I was there, the lovers are from a book of archive images. I thought you might also like to see this photo of a very large sculpture which I also saw in Paris.

TAST and 3M

The stitch for Take a Stitch Tuesday is Feather Stitch. I've used a patchwork of vintage fabrics and transfer printed lace [not sure the green works]. This will be a page in a fabric journal eventually.

The Three Muses challenge is Animal Kingdom. This is a painting from one of my sketchbooks, I had quilting in mind when I did the background. I call him Snooty Bear.

Music & Rolling Stamps [48-51]

The Take a Word challenge this week is the word 'Music'.
The vintage red music book belonged to my dad.

More rolling stamps -
three of them are made using textured wallpapers and the other is a scored wine bottle 'cork', or should I say plastic or rubber

I cut the wallpaper with pinking shears for extra texture [below]
