Two Snowmen

black snow but a white snowman
or white snow and a black snowman

actually I have made snowmen when they have looked quite dark, when dirt has been rolled in the snow, by accident.

Who's Crackers?

I made some fabric crackers for when my arty friends came for lunch, I thought they would be good to use as tree decorations. I say crackers but they won't actually crack. I hand painted and stamped the fabric and stitched on some trim at either end. I used a card roll from wrapping paper to wrap/stick the fabric on and then decorated with ribbons, mini fir cones etc. But that is not all - I put small treats inside too as the crackers can be opened up one end, treats removed and refastened.
Sorry about the bad photos, it was fairly dark and I took them in my messy studio.

Inside there was a peg snowman. I painted an old fashioned dolly peg with white paint, made a hat from some packing [foamy] material, used pens to add features and a scrap of fabric for a scarf.

Also a small roll of hand painted washi paper, I used a recycled mini thread reel to wrap it on. A hand made glittery card button, stamp and circle shaped cut outs [from old Christmas cards], stars on a rope [from a string Christmas decoration], a sweet, Christmas themed gold shapes and a reindeer stick on.

Tis the Season [TM] and C&G Books/Quilts

Take your pick - I did two for The Three Muses challenge - Tis the season

Below is some old City & Guilds work. The top two images are books, for the top one I painted on fabric and covered a big file, the lower one is a handmade book.
The two images at the bottom are little quilts made with hand painted fabrics. All four items were inspired by tigers.

TAST [43,44], Snowmen Card

These are the very last two weeks of Take a Stitch Tuesday samples. They are both feather stitches, Week 43 is Crossed Feather Stitch

and week 44 is Plaited Feather Stitch. I've added a running stitch over the last three feathers [below, in pink]

I've enjoyed taking part in these challenges, if you want to take part click here
I will need a new challenge for next year.

I would also like to take the opportunity of thanking all my web friends for visiting and another 'thank you' to all that left a comment. Happy holidays to everyone! :)
This card was developed from a photograph of the stuffed snowmen, I didn't make the cute snowmen, just the card.

Winter Wonderland

I designed this picture for the Hand Embroidery Network exhibition - Winter Wonderland. I was to register by a certain date & then forward the pictures at a later date, but as I didn't think I would get it done in time, I didn't register. As it happened, the date to send entries was extended, so I would have got it done in time after all. Never mind, I will put it in the 'Layers' exhibition.
Check out the other entries at HEN, there are some really good ones.

Picture  - Paint, running stitch, french knots.
The window - painted heavyweight vilene, plastic, hand stitching.
Deep frame - the window is next to the glass & the snowscene at the back to give the effect of space, looking through a window.
