Orchid Week Card & Video - Day 1

March 4, 2019

Hey there Avery Elle fans.  Caryn here today with a card featuring the new Orchid stamp set along with some of my all-time favourite Avery Elle products.  I also wanted to see how the new Gemini Foil Press machine worked with the cover dies we have available and the result is stunning.  I have a little video to share showing how I created this card.  (Sincere apologies for the lack of voiceover - I have tonsilitis at the moment so was unable to record a video narration.  If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them in the comments).

I started with some Ranger watercolour cardstock and used the Polka Plate cover die with gold foil in the foil press machine.  In the video you will see I made a sort of template using vellum to make sure the card is placed in the correct position.  I stole that top tip from Julie Ebersole!!  Once it was pressed with the foil I created a water coloured background over it using Avery Elle water colours in Cherry and Sugar Plum and set it aside to dry.

Meanwhile I stamped the Orchid images onto some more water colour card using Versamark and heat embossed them in gold embossing powder.  I coloured them using the water colours (Cherry for the petals, Celery for the leaves and Sea Glass for the pot) and then die cut them.

To diffuse the colours a little on the background piece I added a small panel of vellum then adhered the die cut pieces and finished with some iridescent sequins and a gold embossed happy birthday sentiment from the set.

Critter Crew Week - Day 1

April 16, 2018

Hey, it's Caryn here with a colourful card featuring the fun Critter Crew stamp set and co ordinating dies.  I just love these wee guys Heather has created and love to see where they're going to pop up next.  For my card I created a background using Distress Oxide inks splattered with gold spray and adhered a Polka Plate die cut over the top to break up the background a little.

Next I stamped the Critter Crew twice and fussy cut around the front "layer" so I could have them popped up to give a bit more dimension to the scene.   I coloured them all with Copics and for some bling I added Avery Elle glitter to their hats!

For some added sparkle I die cut the Star Frame using gold glitter adhesive paper and placed it onto the card before popping the Critters on top.  To finish I stamped the sentiment in (from Toucan Party) in gold embossing powder and added it to the front of the card.

Banner Bits Week - Card & Video With Heather

March 1, 2018

Hey everyone!  It's Heather here.

YAY!  Have you been enjoying Banner Bits this week?  I know I'm a little biased - but I absolutely am obsessed with Banner Bits.  To me, it's THE perfect banner and the set is jam packed with fantastic sentiments in a really beautiful and quite universal font.

For my card, I decided to pair my banner with the Critter Crew

I've even got a video for how I pulled this card together.  I also go into detail on some great tips for how you can curve these straight sentiments to fit inside the banner.

So much fun!  I love this card and I'm pretty sure I'll need a few more of these ready to give out.

Thank you so much for stopping in and sharing part of your day with me.

Have a wonderful day!

Heather

Banner Bits Week with Katie

February 28, 2018

Hello,

Katie here with a card to share with you featuring the Banner Bits stamp set. This set is filled with so many great sentiments, I pulled out a bunch that sounded like a party and put them together to create this rainbow birthday card.

I used Versafine to stamp the banners onto the different colors of card stock and embossed them with Avery Elle's clear embossing powder.  I adjusted the sentiments to follow the curve of the banner and stamped them onto the banners with Versafine followed by more clear embossing powder.

I die cut the Polka Plates Elle-ments die from white card stock and attached it to a white A2 notecard.  Finally, I used foam adhesive dots to adhere all the banners to the card.

Toucan Party Week - Day 3

February 21, 2018

Hello!
Are you ready for a little "toucan party"?  This new stamp set has you covered when it comes to sentiments.....birthday, thanks, and just "tropi-cool"!

Toucan Party

To a panel of white cardstock, I ink blended some Broken China Distress Oxide ink to one corner (this does not have to be perfect).  To this panel, I used the Polka Dot Plate to die cut the polka dots.

Toucan Party2

I stamped my images using New Moon Dye Ink, Copic colored, and die cut using the Toucan Party Elle-ments.  My sentiment was white heat embossed using Pure White Fine Embossing Powder.  I simply layered my images, some with foam adhesive, to my white notecard that was layered with the polka dot panel.

Spring Bouquet Week & Watercolor Video - Day 2

February 13, 2018

Hello Avery Elle fans!  It's Caryn here today and I'm SO EXCITED to be able to share a couple of cards I've created using the Spring Bouquet clear stamps and dies.   This set particularly lends itself (as do all our other floral sets) to our brand new Liquid Watercolours.  These come in 10 delicious colours and here I've used a few of my favourites (Cherry, Fizz and Mimosa).  I've also created a third card in another colour variation in the video below (look out for the bonus card too!!!).

Both cards use the same main supplies and are just variations of each other.  Both start off as blank 41/4" x 51/2" white cards with Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks (on the pink version) and Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink blended on the orange one.

I used the brand new Polka Plate Elle-ments but added a twist by using two of the circle dies from the Burst Elle-ments to die cut an aperture and circle frame.  I pieced in the "frame" which I cut from another piece of white card into the negative space and adhered the die cut to the card front.

I stamped all the flower elements onto water colour cardstock using Versamark ink then heat embossed them using Avery Elle fine white embossing powder.  My preferred method for watercolouring heat embossed images is to cover the area inside the embossed outline with clean water to saturate the paper then pick up the colour and drop it onto the wetted paper.  This allows the paint to flow freely and naturally but you can also fiddle with it to get it looking exactly how you want it.   For the pink lilies I used Cherry Liquid Watercolour and for the orange lilies I used a combination of Mimosa, Fizz and Cherry.  They mix beautifully and a tiny amount really does go a long way.

You can't really see it in the photos but as always, I have added a touch of shimmer to the images using a Spectrum Noir glitter brush.
