Ashley's Favorite Avery Elle Products of 2018

December 20, 2018

Hi Friends! It's Ashley here today sharing some of my favorite products from 2018!

Oh how I love the Magnolia stamp set from last spring. I knew I wanted to start with this set. Let me show you how I water colored it!

First, I heat embossed the magnolia flower on water color paper.  Next I did a super light color wash with Mimosa liquid water color.

I like to let the base color dry and then I add my shading. Paint the lines with a damp (not super wet) brush, then blend them in.

Once the lines are blend let it dry again and repeat the process. I found that by letting the project dry between layers of paint that I can control the color better.

After I made my flower with Mimosa water color paint I decided to make another with Cherry Next I added a few more of my favorite products. The sentiment is from Grateful and the gorgeous background is my all time favorite Chevron Mat.

Thanks for stopping by! What are some of your favorite Avery Elle products from 2018? I'll be back to share more next week!

Big Birthday Week - Day 1

July 30, 2018

Hey there, Caryn here with a card featuring the Big Birthday stamp set paired together with the large bloom stamp from Magnolia and the Hatch Match Elle-ments.

I started with a magenta pink card base so that my I had a frame to pop the die cut background panel gainst.  I love the subtle texture you get with this die.

Nest I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Big Birthday in Fog dye ink over the top half of the panel and then stamped and coloured the flower using Fog dye ink and Clean Colour Brush markers.

To finish I added a light shimmer spray and a few enamel dots.

I stamped images from our Avery Elle Magnolia Stamp Set onto a card base and Reversed Pinked die cut. I colored them in with Marvy Uchida's ColorIn Watercolor Pencils and used their ColorIn LePlumeII Blender Pen on top to give a smooth and silky look. I adore using these products to color! They are effortless and the results look fantastic! After using our Pure White Embossing powder on the sentiment and adhering everything together the card was complete. It was so fun to sit down and color for this hop. I need to do it more often!

Hummingbrid Week - Day 1

May 22, 2018

Hey there, it's Caryn here with a couple of cards I created using the beautiful Hummingbird stamp set and Elle-ments from the Summer 2018 release.  This set features a gorgeous Hummingbird image along with a fuchsia design but it could be mixed and matched with so many other floral sets from Avery Elle

Both cards started with a frame cut from purple cardstock using the largest of the Reverse Pinked Elle-ments and feature some of the images from the set coloured with Copics.

On the first card I created a gold foiled background using the Painted Backdrops stamp set.  I took the striped image and stamped it using Versamark ink onto the card then heat embossed it with sticky embossing powder from Wow.  Once this was "melted" I added gold foil over the top and ran it through a Minc machine.  The effect is so pretty.  I simply added the sentiment from the Magnolia set in black ink and popped the flower and bird images onto the front using foam tape.

My second card features the larger of the flower images coloured with Copics and adhered onto the card front with foam tape.

I stamped the "Have A Wonderful Day" sentiment in black ink and finished off with some adhesive gems.

Magnolia Week - Day 5

May 18, 2018

Hi Everyone! Ashley here today sharing the beautiful stamp set Magnolia. The light pink and white flowers are my favorite.

To start my card I heat embossed the large magnolia flower in the set on watercolor paper. Next I colored the flower with VERY watered down Cherry and Celery liquid water colors.

Then I created the water colored background with Mimosa and stamped the sentiment from Floating Wishes. I used the Wonky Scalloped Frames Dies to frame the water coloring. I mounted this all on the striped card base. To create the stripes I simply masked lines, blended Distress Ink and splattered water colors.

Thank you for visiting today!

Magnolia Week - Day 3

May 16, 2018

Hello friends,

Katie here with a card to share with you today featuring the gorgeous new Magnolia stamp set.  We are lucky to have a well-established Magnolia tree in our front garden and I always eagerly anticipate its bloom each spring.  With the Magnolia stamp set, it can be spring anytime!

For my card, I blended Distress Oxide ink (Tattered Rose) onto a panel of watercolor card stock. I spattered water onto the blended panel to lift some of the ink.  Next I die cut adhered the largest Wonky Scalloped Frame.

For the flowers, I stamped them with Versafine Black Onyx ink onto watercolor card stock and heat embossed the images using Avery Elle's clear fine detail embossing Powder. I colored the blooms using Avery Elle's liquid watercolors in Cherry and Mint to Be.  I die cut the flowers using the coordinating Magnolia Elle-ments dies, stamped the sentiment in black ink and adhered the flowers to the card- the larger bloom was adhered to the card using foam tape for some added dimension.  As a finishing touch, I added a few clear gems.

Magnolia Week - Day 2

May 15, 2018

Hey, it's Caryn here with a look at the new Magnolia stamp set.  I LOVE Magnolia trees and am always envious of my neighbour's garden when theirs is in full bloom!  Now I know my card strays a little from the traditional colours of pink and white but who says you can't use a bit of artistic license now and then!!

I created a card base from pale lemon cardstock and die cut the largest of the Wonky Scalloped Frames from grey.  I used some of the grey patterned paper from the Neutrals Paper Collection behind the frame and adhered it onto the card.  I stamped the Magnolia images in grey ink and coloured them with Zig Clean Colour Markers and then finished off with some Nuvo drops in the centre of the large bloom.

Magnolia Week - Day 1 & Winner

May 14, 2018

This week we are featuring projects from our Magnolia clear stamps and die set. The design team's projects are amazing so enjoy! Nicky is here with our first post of the week. Isn't the card gorgeous?

Hello everybody this is Nicky with you today on the blog sharing a card using - Magnolia - from the new Avery Elle Summer Release.  As you might expect there are coordinating dies to compliment the stamp set.  I decided on a special shaker card and to create this I die cut a white panel using the rectangular die from the Large Pierced Scallops die set to create a broad frame.

I lined the back of the frame with acetate and applied dimensional foam tape around the border, filled it generously with a a fun mix from my collection of glitters and sequins.  I then applied another layer of acetate to seal it all in and adjoined this to the card base.

On smooth watercolour cardstock I lightly stamped the images using distress inks.  I masked off areas of the stamp and stamped in green then cleaned, re-masked then stamped in pink so that my outline colours were what I wanted. Next I watercolour painted the flower images applying a little more colour for depth here and there.  When I was happy I die cut the flowers and applied them to the acetate shaker window using dimensional foam tape.

I decided the card simply didn't need a sentiment on the outside, although one could easily have been added and the stamp set does include some pretty ones.  The finishing touch was some subtle glimmer that I applied with a gel pen which only shows when the card is handled and moved.

The shaker window was sufficiently filled so that the contents didn't just sit at the bottom, but also leaving just enough room to give a satisfying shuffling sound when shaken.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to read about how I made this card.  See you next time!

Thanks Nicky!!  Congratulations to the winner of our Designer Blog Hop last week.
