Cute Camping Critters by Elena

September 17, 2020

Hello!  While we are getting ready for our next release on Sept 24th I will be featuring some of my favorite Design Team projects from our Summer release.  They are so amazing and they are worth taking a second look!  I cannot wait to show you the 14 stamp sets and 15 die sets that we have coming out on September 24th.   They are sooo good! In the meantime, enjoy these great projects by Elena!

Hi there! Check out these cute cards I have for you today.

Camping critters! (Avery Elle new release blog hop)

My first card is a completely 1 layer panel. It took awhile to get the dies to me across the border, so I started playing around with just the stamps. I ink-blended a night sky, and did some masking to build my scene. Everything was colored using copic markers. Only the sentiment was stamped separately and set on top.

For my second card, which is similarly 1 layer for the most part, I wanted to create a daytime look. Only the tent and the sweet bear, but this time, with a little bunny friend, from Santa Bear, and some little butterflies, from Wheelie Great. I added the sentiment as a skinny strip in the middle of the rolling hills, to cut into all of that solid green.

Once I got the dies, I couldn't help but make another couple of cards! This one features another night scene. I hand-cut an oval shape out of green cardstock for the grassy area, making sure to keep the edges jagged so it really looks like grass. Then, I used a blender brush to spread a black-inked sky, keeping the edges lighter and in line with the grassy piece. I added a blue tent, little critters making s'mores and fireflies in the night sky.

This last card is the simplest. I really wanted to feature the raccoon on a card, I love him holding the little lantern! I added the heart-in-speech-bubble image from Wheelie Great, as well as a few mushrooms from Falling For You. The Star Scene die provided the perfect backdrop.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. Have a great day!

Thanks Thanks week - Day 2

December 17, 2019

Hi there!

Elena here, with a card that mixes the new Thanks Thanks set with a few images from a previous release:

I just love the fonts in the Thanks Thanks stamp set! I chose the medium weight "thanks" and paired it with the delicately scripted "so very much." I just adore how they fit together! The fonts all mix-and-match so well, but I like thinking about a very weight with a lighter weight font, as well as a block and a script font. So great that the work is all done for you!

When you get a new stamp set, the first thing you should do is look in your stash to see what other sets could work with it! I grabbed, if you could believe it, a fall and a Christmas set, and mashed them together into this more spring-time feeling card.

The bunny is from Santa Bear, and the mushrooms are from Falling For You. I did reach for the tiny heart-in-a-speech-bubble from Wheelie Great, and that one is from the newest release.

I hope I've inspired you to look into your stash and see how you could stretch your fall and holiday stamp sets!

Falling For You Week - Day 5

October 4, 2019

Hi Everyone! Today I'm sharing Falling for You. This is one of my favorite stamp sets from this release and I can't wait to share it with you!

This is one of those sets that is SO easy to build with. I picked my favorite images, stamped, die cut and colored them. Then I put together the scene. I loved the shape of Star Scene so I used that to cut my window opening.  Next I stamped the sentiment on a die cut banner from Grand Photo Mat. I added a little bit of water color to the banner and adhered all of the pieces together.

Thanks for stopping by!

Falling For You Week - Day 3

October 2, 2019

Hello!  Amy sharing a card for a special friend using Falling For You.

To create my scene, I first die cut a hexagon from a panel of cardstock using the Pierced Hexagon Elle-ments.  Using the opening as a guide, Peacock Feathers and Peeled Paint Distress Ink were blended onto a white notecard.  Once the ink blending was done, the hexagon frame was added with foam adhesive.

My critters were Copic colored with white pigment pen accents.  They were added with varying heights of foam adhesive.  Cloud die cuts were done using the Grand Photo Elle-ments.  To finish, the sentiment was stamped in the lower right corner.

Falling For You Week - Day 2

October 1, 2019

Hi there! Elena here, with 2 cards featuring a set from our current release, Falling For You.

My first card celebrates fall completely. I stamped and die-cut all of the images from the set, and colored them using copic markers. I love that big tree image! It really grounds the scenes so well. I added extra leaf images, scattering them around for the fox to catch into his jar.

For the background, I did some ink blending. I blended a brown and a blue together, adding a bit of yellow to help them blend better. I faded it to nothing before it hit the bottom of where the tree's foliage begins. That blue really adds a brightness to the card!

To add extra interest, I added accents with both white and brown gel pens.

My second card pulls that same fox toward Christmas:

He mixes in so well with the cuties from Santa Bear! I did some selective inking to pry the fox away from his jar, and gave him a birdie to hold instead! He looks like he's presenting the bird to Santa, hee hee.

I used 2 sentiments from the Santa Bear - the first part I curved around the top of the Snow Scene die. I placed it to the left a little to balance out the largeness of the Santa bear image. The card felt more balanced that way. The second part of the sentiment grounds the images.

I hope you like what I created! Thanks for stopping by!

Falling For You Week - Day 1

September 30, 2019

Hi!  How are you?  This is Nicky with you today and I'm so happy you came by the blog to read about my latest card for Avery Elle that features Falling For You from the Fall release.  The scene I created is framed out using the Dotted Frame Die.

This card started by ink blending white cardstock using Clarity Stencil Brushes.  Distress Inks used are Tumbled Glass, Carved Pumpkin and Peeled Paint.  Dots of pale gold gel pen were added for some added interest and I hand painted in tufts of grass etc.

On Bristol Smooth cardstock the images from Falling For You were hand stamped using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil.  They were watercolour painted using Kuretake Zigs in Brown, Beige, Gray Brown, Dark Brown, Orange, Olive Green, Light Pink, Wine Red and a Tombow in shade 451.  Points were highlighted with a white gel pen and all images die cut.

The images were backed with dimensional foam tape and the Dotted Frame was die cut from white cardstock and also backed with foam tape.  This was all adhered to the blended card background.

To finish up I placed the panel in my Misti and stamped the sentiment twice so that it was a nice strong image and then the panel was applied to a 110lb white cardstock base and voila the card was complete.

Happy crafting and see you next time!

Seasonal Simple Sentiments Week - Day 2

September 10, 2019

Hi there! Elena here with a card featuring a few sets from our newest release.

I starting out by choosing the sentiment, from Seasonal Simple Sentiments, and then built my scene around it. I don't usually do it that way, but it was a fun challenge! I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment onto a black banner flag, to really make it stand out.

To start decking those halls, I stamped and die-cut the green garland (x2) and hanging star from Cocoa Stand. To make the swagged garland look continuous, I simple snipped off one of the red bows and overlapped them. I adhered these near the top of a Wonky-Stitches die-cut panel.

I brought in a few cute critters to help with the decorating! They are all from Falling For You, but the little fox and hedgehog have undergone some adjusting to make them hold the Christmas decorations.

It's not very complicated, and a fun way to be able to stretch your stamps:

First, ink up the fox, but wipe off the jar portion of the image. You will lose the tips of his paws. Don't worry about that for now!

Next, die-cut the image. (ps, if you're confused by the little bit of stamped jar in this picture - it's because I loved the idea so much that I repeated it for a card you'll see in the future!)

Then, with a pencil, draw in the missing paws, and also trace a line to guide your fussy-cutting. I tried to keep the same width of white-outline that the die-cutting would provide. The paws were then traced using a copic-friendly black pen. That's all there is to it!

I hope you are inspired to look at some of your non-Christmas stamps in a new way - I had so much fun dreaming this up!
