Fall Colors with the Queen & King

BY SKEETER
The Saint and I took a quick road trip over the weekend. We drove to Tennessee for a benefit for the Humane Society of my hometown of Clarksville. The Fall colors in my niece's front yard were stunning! Real color has yet to arrive here in my Georgia Gardens so seeing the Fall Colors of Tennessee was a treat.
Prior to our departure, I was busy making a costume for the "Wags to Witches Fur Ball Bash"
The Saint does not like to partake in such silliness but I was able to talk him into wearing this green tee shirt with a painted "P" on it. The Theme of the Ball was "Grimm Fairy Tales". So keeping with the Fairy Tale theme, we went as the "Princess (mummy) and the Pea"
We had a blast at the Fur Ball. And I am proud to announce that our kitty Sheba won the title of Miss Wags earning the most money for the Photo Contest in the Female category. Meet the Queen of Sheba's King, Herman. I must share a quick story about Herman the Beagle. He was recently located at the Clarksville Montgomery County Animal Shelter and on death row. He was on "the list" for the day and had been sedated before the final goodbye. Someone came forward and requested to adopt him just in the nick of time! It does not get any closer then that! His story was so touching that his jar was filled with money at the event. He is now in a happy home and crowned King of the Ball. Stories such as this happy ending keep everyone involved within the Humane Society going strong from day to day. We drove many miles for just 2 days fun but it was worth it to see the FALL COLORS WITH THE QUEEN AND KING, In the Garden...

Wags to Witches Fur Ball

BY SKEETER
It is that time of year again here in my Georgia Gardens folks! What time you ask? Time to hunt down things to create a unique costume for the annual Humane Society's Wags to Witches Fur Ball.
The Fur Ball is the number one fund raiser for the Humane Society of Clarksville, Tennessee. And it has also been voted the BEST CHARITY EVENT in town!
I have not missed one Fur Ball even when The Saint could not join me. Part of the event is a Pet Photo Contest. Each vote for a pet equals $1.00 tax deductible donation.
The Male and Female pets with the most votes wins. The winner of the contest has their picture on the Front of the following years Calendar. Which is another benefit for the group and usually ready for Christmas gift giving. My Beautiful Fur Baby Cheetah helped make history for this event. She and little Bruce kitty were the first place male and female winners as a cat duo! Mr and Miss Wags winners, THE CATS won front cover of the calendar! Cats rule, Dogs drool. Ha ha, not really just having a bit of fun here today.
Cheetah also had her picture inside the calendar being Miss September. Cheetah earned just under $700. I was so proud of my Fur Baby.
But the real winners are the countless animals that the shelter helps within my hometown community. I am sad to say that little Bruce kitty was on Chemo during the event and has since crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. His family was devastated to say the least.
This year we have entered Sheba Kitty into the photo contest. I decided to have a photo op with her thinking that it would be a total flop. After all, she is a feisty gal and does not beckon to any ones call. Not even her persistent mommy, ME.
But ole mom put her thinking cap on and went to work. I set up a couple of backgrounds and with the aide of cat treats, I got that girl to strike a few poses for me! Anyone with a black cat or dog knows how difficult it is to photograph them.
After a few minutes and many cat treats, we had a photo to enter! If any of you would like to donate a dollar or two, feel free to go the web site, Fur Ball Pet Photo Contest. 100% goes to the HS. You do not have to vote for my kitty as there are some wonderful pets you can vote for other then her. Even a little fluffy baby chicken! After all, this is a benefit and all the pets win in the end. When funding is tight, this is the best way we know to help out the needy animals. And remember, "Don't Liter, Fix your Critter"...
I shall be off the Net for a bit as I will be busy finishing my costume (Mummy Gal) and getting ready for the WAGS TO WITCHES FUR BALL, In the Garden...

Reaching out for Charity

By SKEETER
Here I am in my Georgia Garden standing under the tall Banana Tree. Thus far, the cool Fall nights have not harmed this beauty. Soon, she will be cut to the ground by the Saint. I normally over winter a baby plant in the house but this year, the tree and 2 babies will remain in the ground. I have yet to have a banana survive the winter in my gardens so it will be interesting to see if this one will return next year.
We welcome many different animals in our garden. This picture shows a young Buck and 2 fawns getting a drink out of a birdbath during our summer drought.
CoCo Bean belongs to our neighbors but comes to visit us in the garden. She was a stray that came out of the woods just like our 2 Fur Babies came to us. I just love this baby's beautiful Blue Eyes.
Harley does not trot freely in our gardens but has been known to bring his owner over for a visit at times.
Zip, well what can I say about this little fella. He is our buddy and drops by often to visit us in the gardens and even has sleep-overs with us. He loves to roll around in the green grass. Here you see him at a nearby lake we took him to visit while in our care.
The newest visitor to our gardens is Lilo. He is still a bit shy at times but here you see him enjoying our brick wall in the gardens.
I have shown you OJ many times before on this blog. He is a sweet boy that loves to explore our gardens and get himself rubbed as we sit on the swing. He also showed up as a stray from the woods behind our homes.
This past weekend, we had our first fire going in the living room. It was a bit nippy outside and we decided a fire would be nice. Here you see The Saint with our Fur Baby Sheba napping in his lap. The Girls love the warmth of the fire and a nice soft lap. The Saint rarely smiles when I have the camera in my hands but as you can see, he is very happy in this picture. The love of an animal can get him to smile every time.
As you can see, Animals are a big part of our every day life. From the wild critters in our gardens to the domesticated ones we call our very own, we love animals. We take great strides to keep harmony with all animals (even pesky squirrels) in the garden. I cannot imagine our life without some type of animal in it.

Since 2007, in late October, the Clarksville Humane Society puts on an awesome event. This event is called the "Wags to Witches Fur Ball Bash" We leave our Georgia Gardens each year for the drive to Tennessee to attend the Fur Ball. It is the biggest fund raiser for the group and we have a blast at it each year. I have been busy working on my costume the past week.

A portion of the Fur Ball is a Pet Photo Contest. We have never entered one of our girls in the contest as we normally vote on some one else's beautiful Furry Friend. This year, we decided to enter one of our girls. Above you see the entry photo of our Cheetah kitty. Our pets are lucky and have the best in life from a warm lap to plenty of food for their belly's.

Not all domesticated animals are so lucky. So today I am Reaching out in the name of Charity to ask for your Vote for Cheetah. Voting for Cheetah will be a donation for the Needy Animals of my beloved hometown of Clarksville, Tennessee. $1.00 equals 1 vote. The winners will receive prizes (which I plan to pass onto another event) and a spot in the 2012 Calendar, which is yet another charity event. So if you have a buck or two or feel the need to donate to a wonderful cause, please go to the CLARKSVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY Website and Vote for Cheetah Birdsong as Miss Wags!

Today, I am REACHING OUT FOR CHARITY, In the Garden...
