Our Saturday....

Fred is hunting in the Texas Hill Country this weekend. He's had some good luck and it looks like we'll have some meat in the freezer. I went out and sat this morning. Saw all my does, their fawns and some not legal bucks...

This little wren came and landed on my knee while I was sitting this morning and pretty much announced to the deer and the world that I was there by screaming at me, lol. I guess he didn't like me being there as I was interrupting his hunt for bugs!! Little brat. He did make me laugh as he was really quite vocal!!

As the fog lifted I watched these clouds roll across the sky, it was neat to watch!

Michael and I ran some errands in Victoria and I went into Kirklands. I'd never been in there and I wasn't too impressed but I did find this canvas. It reminded me of a farm I grew up near and that relatives live in...I thought about it and decided to get it. We don't have too many Christmas decorations and I liked this. I hope it's the only snow I see for a long while though, lol.

Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Morning walk...

Jenny and I went for a walk this morning, it was absolutely beautiful outside...

Typical of what I see every day, white tails and deer butts!!

Blue Blue skies...

Boing! Boing! She actually made it across the road in one leap!

This years fawn watching Jenny and I...I've taught Jenny not to chase deer and this youngster was testing her...Jenny behaved!

Wildflowers...

Looking back I spotted this gorgeous web catching the suns rays!

Sometimes things just click...

I can count on one hand the number of animals that I've just clicked with over my life. There is a certain vibe, we are in tune to each other. It's hard to explain if you aren't an animal lover or have never had that type of relationship with an animal. Goodness knows I've had a lot of animals in my lifetime but very few that took up a large chunk of my heart, knew what I wanted before I even knew myself...it's hard for me to explain. My first horse Trixie that I lost when she was 10 due to kidney failure, she was my girl, she knew me and all I can say is I am thankful God blessed me with her. She taught me a lot and the memories I have of her I will always cherish...

Now another one has come into my life....

Jenny is one of these animals...She isn't perfect and she can be naughty at times (she got in the egg basket the other night and we had egg shells all over the house). But she knows me, she makes me laugh, she adores me and the feeling is mutual...She is my companion, my friend, she is there no questions asked. She's smart and is always trying to please, but she can also be stubborn and totally ignore me too...She has turned into Ms. Protector but she's not aggressive and she adores the kids. She's one of a kind and I feel so blessed to have her in my life!! Thank you God! She's my dog and I love her...

A whole lot of photos...

We have a Cold front coming in and there is a slight chance it might freeze. I was busy taking care of my plants and when I finished up with what I wanted to do today I decided to take a walk. If we do get a frost most of the bugs and blooms will disappear, sigh....I'm not fond of winter.

Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillar

Praying Mantis on the Zinnias

I had fun with the Macro lens, they are so Alien looking...

I'm going to miss the flowers...

The bees were busy...

My trestle is covered with Morning glories, Passion Plant, Mandavilla, and the Wisteria is in there somewhere too...Come December/January I will clean that all off.

Michael and I spent Saturday building a mini greenhouse to put all the plants in it I don't want getting frosted. It's not anything fancy but will work on protecting them. Fred is laughing but we'll see what he thinks when I use it next spring to start the garden seedlings...

A sea of yellow...

Loved seeing the bees, we didn't have very many over the summer so it's nice to see them getting ready for winter.

Yellow-rumped Warbler

It wasn't hard to spot this Gulf Fritillary among the yellow flowers.

Paper Wasp, he was hugging this flower tightly...

Amymone butterfly, there were a lot of them fluttering about...

Pencil cactus and also known as Christmas cactus, look at those spines, OUCH!

Giant Swallowtail who has seen better days...

Crab spider removing something from it's web...

I won't miss the grasshoppers, they were terrible this year and basically destroyed the garden.

Morning glories on the garden fence...

Bluebird. I hung up the bluebird houses and they came over to check them out. Maybe next spring we'll have some bluebirds use the nesting boxes.

Snout butterfly, they are migrating through right now and there are thousands of them...

Another snout butterfly

You know how they say everything is bigger in Texas? You know how people put flowers in a planter and lay it on it's side so the flowers kind of flow out of them?? Well we did that, we just used a 5ft Culvert, lol...I might have to add some different wildflower seeds to it...

I got a lot accomplished today and I think I'm pretty much ready for winter regarding my plants.
Hope y'all have a good week...
