Oh Goodness...

I did IT!!
(Good Morning Mr. Jack Rabbit) was chosen as the first place winner in the Wildlife in the native landscape category of the Wildflower Center and Texas Highways' photography contest. There were 1,770 submissions to the contest overall.
I am in tears and so excited...I wish my friend John was with us to share this with me!!

He's back...

Sunday evening I walked out on the front porch and heard a noise...Looked over and there was a turtle, hmmm?

Not sure how or why he was on the front porch but I picked him up and moved him over to the grass and I was tickled to note that it is one of the turtles that was in the driveway last year or the year before and we moved it up closer to the house...

I knew him because of the gash in his shell. It was great to know he was still alive too. I turned the water hose on and let it run near him and he drank and drank and drank some more...He was one thirsty turtle....

Michael was excited to see him again too. Once he drank his fill off he went out into the pasture...I was laughing as last time we saw him he played shy and would not come out of his shell, this time he was constantly out of his shell and showed no fear of us what so ever, too cool.

Always nice to see one of our turtles wandering around and I hope he comes back for more water too. I've noticed the animals are coming up to the house for water, getting really dry out there!!

 Neighbors cow and calf....

One of our Landlords cows had a calf this evening...He had just finished nursing and laid down with his tongue sticking out, too cute!! Mmmm that milk was good!

Saltwater Fishing, Olivia Texas Saturday June 16...

We were in the Oilmens Fishing Tournament this past weekend...We fish but never enter the fish we catch, as we like to catch and release...and I love the photo ops...

 Gorgeous Gulf-Coast sunrise...

Big time Back-Lash...Fred normally never back-lashes and I always do as these are not the fishing reels I grew up with, nor do I use them for fresh-water fishing...I took my open reel but didn't realize I was out of line on it until we got over there to fish, sigh...I ended up using one of Fred's reels. And thank goodness he gave me the better one of the two he brought as I was finally getting the hang of it and only Back-lashed the line a couple of times!

Michael was more interested in exploring and looking for hermit crabs...

 Daddy and Son

The gentleman next to us was fishing with his sons, they caught 2 trout and a flounder

Michael was fix'in to fall over...he then decided leaning in the chair wasn't a good idea, thank goodness as I didn't feel like fishing him out of the water...

Fred's bobber bobbing away as he fixes another Backlash, poor thing spent most of the morning de-knotting his line...

This ticks me off (shark carcass)....what a waste!! Why didn't they cut the line and turn it back loose? I don't understand people sometimes!!

 My Man...

 Houses along the waters edge...

 Blue Heron flying by...

 Rosetta Spoonbill...

 Busy Boy...

And yes once again my flounder....

We had a great morning and so glad we went...
