2012 Goliad Christmas Parade...

Michael and I headed over to Goliad for the Parade and kick off of the Christmas festivities...It was really nice and a lot more people than normal. I am sure with the 70 degree weather and skating rink more people were out and about...

Christmas trees on the courthouse lawn...

Everyone is waiting for the parade to start...

Miss Goliad and her court on the float...

It wouldn't be a parade in our town without tractors...

Purty yellow tractor all lit up!

This was our favorite entry...These dogs were tied on a leash with lights on it between to two people and were prancing and barking while traveling down the street...it was too cute and too funny!

 One of many floats...

Funny like a clown on a bike!

Motorcycles all lit up and very LOUD!

 Another pretty float...

Our pumper truck...it sure was pretty!

The gorgeous floats always amaze me!

The dresses on this one are always beautiful!

Floresville had a really nice float...

Here comes Santa in a Wagon...no sleighs around here!

and of course there were plenty of wagons and lots of horses too...

The skating rink was a big hit!

So glad Michael and I tried out the skating rink last night, it was a bit crowded tonight! Wow!

There were plenty of arts and craft vendors and we even went in the stores...This gorgeous tree was in one of the downtown stores Christmas shop!

Downtown Goliad after the parade...always so pretty!

Michael bought himself a lighted light saber and was having fun swinging it around!

We had a really great time tonight...

Hope y'all had a good Friday!

Winter Migrants...

This morning I had an Amercian Goldfinch sitting where I normally hang the bird feeders chirping at me. I guess that was a hint that they are here for the winter and waiting for their treats and or feed. I bought new feeders as Julie (the horse) had ruined my other ones. Hopefully these bird feeders will last a bit longer. Can't wait to see what arrives and to be able to get the camera on the tripod for photos!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

XOXO

Ice Skating in Goliad Texas...

It's that time of year again in Goliad....

Kind of hard to think about ice skating outside when it's 71 degrees

But the Goliad Christmas celebration kicks off this weekend and they brought in a supposed Ice Rink. I thought it would be ice but it wasn't. It was a hard plastic sheeting with water/chemicals sprayed on it. It was different but I was game. Always up for an adventure and trying something new.

This will be Michael's first time attempting to Ice skate or would that be plastic skating, lol. He was game too and very excited.

 The rink...

 We're ready...skates are laced up!

He's up, not going very fast but he's up...

 Skating is hard work!

Whew...all done and 20 minutes about did me in. I forgot how much work skating is...

It was an adventure and very strange attempting to skate on plastic. It was sticky and instead of gliding across it you stuck to it. It had a lot of gouges in it too and that didn't make it easy either. Hopefully some day I can take Michael to a real Ice rink and he can try again...We did have fun and met some new people and chatted with old friends...
Tomorrow is the Christmas parade and Saturday is when Santa arrives...Ho Ho Ho!

November 25, Sunday the trip home...

Up around San Angelo on Hwy 87 they are still harvesting cotton...I managed a few photos as we were leaving...

Texas snow (cotton) spread out in a field...

I stopped at a picnic spot to read the signs...very interesting and very thoughtful. I will always remember this as I drive Hwy 83 through-out Texas...

The sign reads:
In gratitude to the thousands of Men and Women who served our country during the Vietnam War, the people of Texas dedicate this highway which runs across our state from the Southernmost tip to the Northernmost point. It is our hope that all those who travel US 83 will pause to remember those who gave up their lives or their youth or their hopes in that long and bitter conflict. We vow not to forget those who did not return to us and we pledge to remember the sacrifices of those who have come home.

 Some more Autumn colors...

and another marker...I'm learning so much and love it!

Some seven million head of cattle & horses went up the Great Western Trail from 1874 to 1893 from Mexico through nine U.S. states into Canada with the major years being 1874 to 1886. This trail lasted more years, carried more cattle, and was longer than any other cattle trail originating in Texas...

It was a gorgeous drive home and so thankful we had a great Thanksgiving!

November 24, Saturday...

Yes I skipped Friday as Dawn, her Mother and I went shopping and I didn't take any photos other than the video I posted earlier of Michael riding the bike...But Saturday we just chilled at Dawn's house...

First thing when we got to Dawn's Saturday Michael jumped on the bike and took off...

Later in the day Dawn let little Nellie out and she bounced all over the place. I'm not fond of goats, but the babies are so darn entertaining...we laughed and giggled at Nellie's antics as she bounced, hopped and ran all over the yard...

 Are you my Mom?

Dawn had some gorgeous flowers still blooming...

 Go Nellie, Go!

Trey was showing off his talents with a rope...

Skeeter enjoying his pipe and a gorgeous afternoon...

 The kids started playing football...

Love the smiles, they were having so much fun!

Nellie wanted to play too!!

We headed back to the hotel in San Angelo early as I wanted to get to bed early...We were heading home Sunday...another 5 hour drive but it was so worth it to be able to spend time with Dawn and family for Thanksgiving!!
