Goofy Chicken...

One of our young hens is quiet the character and she's always good for a laugh. The other day she was playing with Jake and they were jumping all over the yard nose to beak. Tonight Michael looked out the window and started laughing. I looked and there's the hen sitting on the fence picking berries off a vine in the rain...She was practically hanging upside down at times...All the other hens were on the ground eating but Not her...

Are you laughing at me? I sure am, your a goofy chicken!

Buddies and Bob...

Yesterday I glanced over at one of the recliner chairs and saw KitCat and Lydia snoozing...It's actually Mom's chair, ekk...Sorry Mom I think you'll have to share!

They'd given each other a bath earlier and were snuggled up sleeping...so darn cute! They're buddies and when I put Lydia outside KitCat cries and cries, he loves her...It's hard to believe Lydia is almost 6 months old and she's as tall as Kit.

But poor Jake...he is sad!
He loves them too but just can't fit in the chair with them, sigh! So he stretches out on the floor below them and pouts :o(

This is what Ms. Lydia thinks of me and my camera....Boring!
~
This morning I walked out the door and saw a flock of Bluebirds in the yard. I watched for awhile and then saw one on the tractor. I thought Ohh that will make a great shot, so I quietly went back in to get the camera...I thought I'd try but knew when I got back outside they'd be gone and they were, sigh! Darn it, missed a photo op but I have the memory :o)
In the meantime Bob, the rooster, came to check me out. He's turning into a gorgeous rooster and thank goodness is still friendly and a great model for a photo shoot too!

Bob, the rooster!

I am shocked at how big his comb is, sheesh!
~
You might laugh at me but as I watch the chickens run around the yard it makes me think of dinosaurs...They just look so prehistoric and I love to watch them...They aren't too bright at times and are very entertaining at other times.
One of the young hens decided to play with Jake this morning and she'd bounce and Jake would bounce while they were nose to beak and no I didn't have the camera, sigh! It was too funny and I had a little chuckle over their antics!
Guess when I walk out the door I need to carry the camera in one hand and the video camera in the other...it's a thought :o)

Photos from August 22 at Dads...Target practice

I missed this group of photos in August and thought I'd share them with you now. It was right around the time of Michael's surprise birthday party and school starting. We had gone over to Grandpa's so Michael could show him his new 22 rifle.

Fred and Dad checking out the target...

Me messing around with the camera...

Grandpa giving Michael some advice on how to take care of his new rifle.

Ready, set, aim...FIRE! He's excited and can't wait to go rabbit hunting with Grandpa.
~
Fred and I then went to check the game camera's.
I spotted this little darl'in hunting minnows in one of the dry creek beds that was drying up...

Texas Garter Snake and completely harmless...well to us that is, not to minnows!

Misc photos from this past weekend...

Mom and Dad came over to inspect the bridge...

I think Michael was showing Grandma how to write in concrete, lol...
A wee bit hard to be doing it now.

Fred taking notes as to what still needs to be done...

Fred and his Dad inspecting the job...
On another note: Dad is starting Chemo at M.D. Anderson in Houston soon and we would appreciate if y'all would keep him in your prayers. It's going to be rough but they are trying to stop the cancer from spreading and we are hoping this works. A few more years with him would be nice :o)

And here's Michael playing "Money Bags"...
Michael and Daddy played it for awhile this weekend and it was so sweet to see these two spending some quality time together.

We're in the Army now...oh excuse me the Marines...

Mom: Michael what do you want to be for Halloween?
Michael: An Army Man!
Mom: Hmmm how about a Marine?
Michael: Can I dress in camo gear and carry a gun?
Mom: Yes to the Camo gear but NO to the gun!
...
So I ordered him some Jungle boots...do you have any clue how many different types of military boots there are out there, sheesh...I didn't have a clue so I ordered these and he loves them, Yeah!
His costume is basically done and he's ready for Halloween...I love it when I get things done early, makes life so much more special!
...
The mosquitoes have been swarming and I have been unable to get outside for some photo therapy. Today I finally got some granules to put on the yard to keep the mosquito's at bay. It seems to be working, it's not a total 100% mosquito free yard but there are a lot less of the little darl'ins...I did manage to get outside and take a few photos but it seems I might have Fred's sickness...yes he's been sick and now I don't feel so hot, sigh! So off to bed I go for some much needed sleep and rest. I hope to be able to post some more photos tomorrow!

Happy Grandparents Day!

Michael isn't able to spend the day with his Grandparents but he knows who they are and loves them dearly!
