Hunting Monsters

I was playing around tonight and decided to do a Digital Quick Page.
I used the photo of Michael hunting monsters at Grandma and Grandpa ranch last weekend....Not really my layout style but it was a freebie and I had to try it...

Your Smile...(Digi Layout)

"Whenever I see this smile it makes my heart melt.
It's one of your fleeting smiles and it doesn't happen
often but this one time I captured it with the camera!"
Your smile makes me smile.

Digi items used were designed my Sue Cummings you can check out her blog here and her forum for goodies here. These items are also available at O'scraps, click here.

Mom's latest sewing project!

Remember when I took Mom and Penny on a Quilting Shop Hop? Well we found this bright beautiful fabric and I loved it. The quilt shop had done a shirt with it and it was beautiful. I asked Mom if she could do it and she is always up for a challenge so she said of course...
Below is her work of art and today I get to wear it!! YeeHaw!!
Don't mind my awful photos...I was in a bit of a hurry!
She did a Fantastic job, Thank you Mom.

Tersa Sphinx Moth & Falcate Orangetip Butterfly

I was out in the flowerbeds this morning cutting down some of the frost bitten plants when I noticed this little darl'in hanging on one of the dead leaves....I knew it was a moth but wasn't sure what kind it was...I thought it was beautiful...I took a few photos and came in to look it up...Couldn't find it in my books or online so I sent a letter off to Texas A&M's Entomology department...I wonder if they get tired of me, lol...I'm always asking them what is this or that...but they are Wonderful and always answer my questions...

Thank you Texas A&M for being so patient and kind!!

This is a Tersa Spinx Moth and it's caterpillar looks like the tomato horn worms...

Uh Oh...wonder if I have killed a few, Yikes!!

It's wings reminded me of a dried up Corn husk...I did use the Macro lens but not the tripod and wished I would have so the photos could have been a bit more crisper...

Falcate Orangetip Butterfly...
I spent a few minutes chasing this little darling all over the yard...grr...I hadn't seen one before and wanted a few photos for identification and it would not stay still...(The reason for the not so clear photos and the wind was awful and didn't help either)...
I finally stopped chasing it and sat down and guess what it came back, lol...

Here's my "Where's Waldo Photo"...pretty good camouflage if you ask me...

Lots of butterflies here but the winds has been terrible so I am biding my time and hoping we get a wind free day so I can introduce the butterflies to the Macro...and hopefully some new butterflies too!!

I spent most of Sunday taking photos as you can see from the previous posts...
I really enjoyed finding some flowers and a little bit of color and spending time with my family...a perfect Sunday if you ask me...
Above was our Sunday Texas Sunset...a bit over cast and maybe some rain coming soon!!
I hope y'all enjoy your week and thank you for stopping by South Texas for a bit!!

Moments like these...

I love moments like this when in the evening we can spend time together and enjoy the beautiful day....

But I hate it when Michael trys to hide from the camera, ugh!!

NO PHOTOS!! MOM!!

LOL...is the coast clear yet!!
MOM stop taking photos!!

Turkey Vultures

All in a Row sitting on the corral fence....

Uh Oh....Get out of the Way he's coming in for a landing!! Ekkkkkk....

King of the Pole...
I wonder if that is like us playing "King of the Hill"...instead they play King of the Electric Pole...
I've never found Vultures very pretty...but they are kind of neat as they are so ugly it makes them interesting...and they do serve a purpose we don't have to worry about dead carcass's laying around and making everything smell nasty!

A few People I know...

One dirty little boy...and he thinks he's tough shooting Monsters in the woods!!
Dad and his mischievous smile...
When he smiles at you like that "WATCH OUT!"...
it means he is up to NO good!!

Ekkk Look who's driving and dear Grammy is hanging on for dear life!! LOL...

I wanted a photo of the 3 guys together...They had to wrangle Michael up and hold him tight! And then the little IMP had to stick his tongue out!! UGH!!

Yep he's telling me stories again....

A walk on the wild-side...

You know me I always find some South Texas critters to share...
~Jumping Spider~
(Harmless)
~Feral Hogs~
(Destructive)

~Wasp~
(Painful)

~Green Anole Lizard~
(Cute)

Flowers along the San Antonio River Valley

I did manage to find a few flowers on my walk at the inlaws ranch...
~Buckeye~

I just love the Macro world of flowers...it's a whole different world to explore!
This was a bloom off a plant Christi had in her garden...The ants were enjoying it!
~Spiderwort~
I love the frilly Stamens and the fly was another unexpected Macro critter!
~Texas Baby Blue Eyes~
I was stunned by all the insects after this one little bloom...
~Carolina Horse Nettle~
I love the detail of the one petal in the upper left, it looks so soft and fuzzy.

~Pink Evening Primrose~
Love the detail of the veins and the colors in the center...gorgeous!
Another Bloom from Christi's garden...

I so enjoyed finding some color!

Sunday Morning (7am) Birds and Blooms

Time changed last night and sprung 1 hr ahead and my head is totally messed up!
I couldn't sleep this morning, so as soon as the sun was up I went outside for some
Photo therapy...The birds were out and about and I even saw a new one this morning!!

Northern Male Cardinal...known to most Texans as a redbird...

Brownheaded Cowbirds and Cardinals out in the pasture...

Female Northern Cardinal

Pink Jasmine that we just planted.
If I can't see wildflowers this year I'll plant my own...I need color!!

We had a buff-bellied Hummingbird come in last week! And he or she is still here!

I was staring at the feeder and at all the chipping sparrows when it dawned on me there is another sparrow in there that is new...a White-crowned Sparrow. They are a bit bigger than the chipping sparrows and of course they have the white and black on the top of their head...I didn't have the camera when I first saw them and when I came back out with the camera the White-crowned sparrows flew off...So after my photo session I came in to check out my photos and happened to look out the window and they were back...sigh!! So I took these photos through the window...

It was a pretty good morning for the birds. We are headed over to my In-laws ranch near the San Antonio River and hopefully I'll be able to get some more photos!!
