Vacation ~ Day # 4 ~ Colorado Springs ~ Air Force Academy

On our 4th day of Vacation, 2nd day in Denver we decided to head South to Colorado Springs.

Good Morning Sleepy Head!

While I was waiting on Fred and Michael I found this itty bitty Wildflower at the hotel...Not sure what it is but I thought it was gorgeous!

Michael was so excited when we decided to visit the Air Force Academy!
They had a really nice museum and gift store and I'm afraid to say this but Michael's room is now totally Air Force! Sorry Daddy but the Dallas Cowboy theme is going bye-bye!

We went to an overlook and I got some great pictures of the Academy and Chapel. Maybe (fingers crossed) Michael will be going here!

Another view from the overlook.

Further on down the road we found the airport and training field.

Training planes were taking students in gliders up, up and away!

Ooops I got side tracked when I heard and then spotted these finches!

Michael and Daddy found some shade!
~
We had a great morning at the Academy, stay tuned for more photos from our day in Colorado Springs. We couldn't have asked for better weather!

Vacation ~ Day # 3 ~ Denver Museum of Nature and Science

We had so many choices and so little time of what to do in Denver...After discussing it with Fred we decided to go the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. They had a planetarium that we really wanted Michael to see, (he loved it). I was excited about the Museum but truly excited to meet a few of my friends...

Karin M. and I...
not sure how long I've known her but we met on Scrapbook.com and have been friends ever since...She and her girls (Lexi and Jesse) met us at the Museum.
And then Jen Maddocks, her husband (Corey) and their girls Ava and Laney also met us...What a GREAT day!
(I was so excited that I forgot to get a photo of Jen and I together, ekk) Did anyone get one?)
Michael truly enjoyed having the girls to play with...Here they are playing on the wolf exhibit outside the Museum.

Fred watching the kids playing with the Saber Tooth Tiger...Fred and I both were laughing at the kids...They had so much energy and were here and there, never staying still for very long...and I love the fact that they all got along great and seemed to have fun.

My favorite photo of the day...Look at those smiles!
Jen and Karin and yes we are all photography nuts and Scrapbook too!

Somehow we managed to get the kids to stay still for a photo!

Karin taking an interesting photo of the Ram...Did it turn out Karin?

North American Bison...I loved the murals painted behind the animals!

Grizzly Bear

Hey where are the kids? There they go....

Trying out the wide angle lens and the Prehistoric sea Monster.

LMBO...I turn around and these two are taking photos of me, ekk...Well I can play that game too!

A Quartz Crystal...it's HUGE! Fred loved this...

They're NOT camera shy!
I had a great time and was so glad to enjoy the day at a really neat place and meet some of my friends!
Thanks y'all for sharing the day with us!
Wish we would have had more time!

Vacation ~ Day # 3 Morning ~ June 23 2010

We had arrived at our first destination on our Vacation, Denver Colorado.
Weds. morning I was up bright and early and waiting with anticipation to meet some friends in person for the first time. While I was waiting I took some photos from the Hotel of our surroundings...too sweet!

I see mountains from the parking lot of the Hotel...Yes I see an expressway too but I wasn't looking at that, I was inspired and in awe of the Rocky Mountains....

Then I looked out in a field next to the hotel and there were Prairie Dogs...WOW!

Wild Prairie Dogs right next to the Hotel and Expressway...how cool is that!
Well I thought it was exciting until I was informed by a native Coloradan that Prairie dogs are considered a pest and excellent target practice, ekk...

Michael had to check out a Prairie Dog hole..."Anyone down there?"
(ER doctor: And how did your son get bit on the nose? (just kidding, imagination kicked in there for a moment))

The field was just full of them and I was having a blast trying to get a decent photo...not very easy!

I got a bit too close and she headed for her den...Whistling and Chattering at me the whole time, Oops!

I went up to the third floor and found a window where I could get a better view of the East Slope of the Rockies...How can you live in Denver and NOT take photos of these gorgeous slopes?
~
Stay tuned for the rest of the day!
Meeting friends, visiting the Denver Museum of History and Science, and swimming at the Hotel pool...

Home sweet Home

We are back from our trip and I appreciate how patient y'all are being. I just went through my photos...over 800, ekk....I'm going to go through them and post my favorites to the blog and all the photos will be posted to Flickr. Bare with me as I work on them in the next few days!
We are getting rain bans from Hurricane Alex but nothing terrible. We had a GREAT vacation, met some wonderful people and saw some Awesome sites!
