2320. Mainz, Rathaus

Dear Tamu,

"With a painter or a sculptor, one cannot begin to
alter his works, but an architect has to put up with
anything, because the makes utility objects, the
building is there to be used, and times change."
(Arne Jacobsen)

Best regards,
R

Dear Sammy,

The United Arts Center in central Fort Wayne, IN
was the only part built of a more ambitious arts
complex including a philharmonic hall, an art school,
an art museum and more facilities forming a projected
campus of nine buildings. Eventually only the Theatre
of Performing Arts was built due to a lack of funding.
This theater can be seen in the foreground at the center
of this contemporary postcard.

R

Dear Lis,

"There is a rumor that I can't draw and never could.
This is probably because I work so much with models.
Models are one of the most beautiful design tools,
but I still do the finest drawings you can imagine."
(Jørn Utzon)

Sincerely,
R

Dear Susanne,

"Architecture should be felt by all the senses at the
same time, and why not with a sense of humor too"
(Erik Asmussen)

Querido Pau M.

condiciones ambientales" (John Portman)

Dear John,

"Architects don't take always into account how
people find their way around, or how a building
fits into environment, or how it can make people
happy" (Kevin Roche)

hicimos una arquitectura heredera del racionalismo"

1603. Otaniemi

Dear Erik,

This is another view of the two towers built in Otaniemi
by Siren and Melakari as part of the Aalto university's student housing facility area called Teekkari Village.

1575. Tech Town, Otaniemi, Finland

Dear Erik,

Alvar Aalto won the competition for the Otaniemi campus in 1949. Years later, in 1973 three
triple-tower complexes were carried out by Heikki
Siren and Martti Melakati. The emphasis of the
original design was on social contact with groups
of rooms arranged around a common living cell.

Dear Betty,

This is a large and impressive model of the Sydney
Opera House in the studio of its architect Jørn Utzon,
in Denmark, 1960.

Querido Miguel Angel,

Dear Sven,

Professor of Architecture Per Kartvedt designed the

St. Olav's Cathedral in Trondheim (Norway) in 1973.
Unfortunately this charming building has become
inadequate for the current requirements of the local
community. In consequence it has been planned to
replace it with a brand new building that will be designed
by Eggen Architects.

Regards.

Dear Roberto,

"The path to beauty does not always demand  to be imbued by the fact to make something beautiful. Sometimes you make something beautiful through a rational way" (João Filgueiras Lima Lelé)

883. Lanzarote, Islas Canarias. Mirador del Rio.

Querido Paco,
