Estimado Eduardo,

"El trabajo del arquitecto es una respuesta a lo
que demanda el espacio, y también una pregunta
acerca de cómo transformarlo." (Alvaro Siza)

Dear Celine,

"We should concentrate our work not only to a
separated housing problem but housing involved
in our daily work and all the other functions of the
city." (Alvar Aalto)

2104. Torrelavega, Cantabria. Iglesia de la Virgen Grande (Pórtico)

Estimado Antón,

Después de atender a su conferencia sobre
Luis Moya Blanco y la cultura tardoclásica
Europea he seguido su recomendación y he
historicista. Como usted bien dijo en su charla
todos estos grandes cosntructores tuvieron en
común mostrar en sus arquitecturas una clara
y muchas veces brillante relación entre forma
y construcción.

Muchas gracias y un saludo muy cordial,
R

2103. Helsinki. The Stora Enzo Head Offices.

Dear Mariona,

A rare back side view of the Stora Enso's Headquarter.
This was one of the most controversial Alvar Aalto's
buildings in Helsinki due to its location between the
neoclassical Market Square and the big and red Uspenski
Cathedral of the Orthodox Church.

All the best,
R

Dear Sybille,

"Education is not just the development of intellectual
capabilities, not just the achievement of particular
knowledge and abilities: it is a process which allows
the bringing together and developing of all faculties.
Therefore learning must be in harmony with the
child’s growth and development, and the school,
like the home, must stand as evidence that the earth
is a good place to dwell." (Hans Scharoun)

Best,

Querido Félix,

1634. House of Worship. United Church of Rowayton, CT

Dear Michael,

"The Rowayton Church is a superbly functional unit. Though it is several light years removed from the rigid geometry usually associated with the term "functional", It serves the varied needs of the parish to perfection." (Robert Mutrux, Great New England Churches)

Sincerely,
R

Dear James,

"The rooms should be as individual as possible, as
random as those in an old inn rather than as
standardized as those in modern hotels...
(Eliel Saarinen)

Dear Marcos,

"Bennie Gonzales’s architecture was often more
playful and his architectural response to our desert climate and ‘place’ more appropriate than that of
many of his contemporaries." (Will Bruder)

Dear Elissa,

"It is easier to build a grand opera or a city center than
to build a personal house" (Alvar Aalto)

1233. Hotel Okura, Tokyo

Dear Andreas,

The chauffeur got out and bowed. Henderson fired a torrent of instructions at him in fluent Japanese and followed Bond into the back seat, settling himself with a grunt. “Taking you to your hotel first – the Okura, latest of the Western ones. American tourist got murdered at the Royal Oriental the other day and we don't want to lose you all that soon.”
(Ian Fleming-You Only Live Twice)

Dear Nari,

“My home is the womb. The womb’s
home is the mother, the mother’s home
is the house and the house’s home is
the environment. It’s wrong to think of
a home as just a residence."

Querido Javier,

"Cualquier diseño es un intento de captar con el mayor rigor posible y con todos su matices un momento
concreto de una imagen fugaz.  Esa cualidad transitoria
se captará satisfactoriamente en los proyectos en la medida en que sea más o menos precisa; y cuanto más patente más vulnerable será." (Alvaro Siza Vieira)

Un abrazo,
R

1110. Pfarrkirche Linz, St. Theresia

Dear Steven,

"The art of building, as we meant it, is the
creation of living form, and the church as
we meant it, is not merely a walled shelter,
but everything together: building and people,
body and soul, the human beings and Christ,
a whole spiritual universe–a universe, indeed,
which must ever be brought into reality anew"
(Rudolf Schwarz)

Greetings,
R
