Floral Digital Art and Lana's Blog

These were created on a tablet [Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1]. I used the sketchbook pro app and took advantage of the mirror tool. I used the same picture and altered it in two ways - below. Click on the images to enlarge.

Lana Gordon has been doing interviews with fabric designers who use Spoonflower and today she featured me. To check out my interview and meet other designers go to Lana's blog here

Digital Photos and the Birds

The other day I blogged about a mixed media picture I had done for the sketchbook challenge - Into the woods. I uploaded it to my galaxy note tablet and changed the colours and also put on a flock of birds. The bird was created on the tablet a while ago.
I have also been messing about with a photo that I took through the car window of an interesting sky, although it didn't look so interesting on the photo. I used the pixlr-o-matic app for the effects.

Tree Sketches

The sketchbook challenge - the theme this month is 'into the woods'.
I was thinking it was tree, hence the lone trees.
These were all created on a samsung galaxy note 10.1 and sketchbook pro.

Prague and Cup

I've just been to Prague, in the Czech Republic, it is a lovely city and enjoyed it very much. This is one of the views from the old Town Hall tower. There are lots of decorative and interesting buildings.

I also saw some unusual things like all these padlocks on railings.

There are also some modern buildings like this one known as the dancing building.

I enjoyed drinking what the locals drink a lot of - beer. Especially nice when you are overlooking the city on a beautiful day.

And to something creative - I was given a lovely cup and saucer from a friend for my birthday and this is a drawing I did of it.

I did the drawing on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and I used the Sketchbook Pro app.

From Scribble to Wrap

This was created on my Galaxy Note 10.1, I used photoshop touch and the pen which comes with the Note.
Under the layers of lines is a layer of music and a layer of blobs on top.

I used pixlr-o-matic to add some more effects such as lighting and the edges.

I uploaded it to my computer to add a flower - it was an image of a stitched paper I did some years ago and I altered the colour too. Text was added and the design was arranged it into a repeating pattern. It was for a contest on Spoonflower for a birthday wrapping paper design. Spoonflower now sell wrap as well as fabric and wallpaper although this design is not for sale yet as it has not yet been proofed. My other designs can be seen here.

Vintage Photo and Wren

Above - an altered vintage photograph. I can't remember what I used to create the textured background, it could have been a picture of my textured embroidery which I altered. There is also a layer with a vintage letter.
Below - I drew the bird from following a photograph, the background is some altered artwork and music.

Both of these were created on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Cat and Birds Tablet Art

I worked these two digital collages on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. and used the same background for both pictures. I've also done a repeating fabric design [on the regular computer] using the background too which I'll show at a later date.
It is the same bird repeated and one of the cat's eyes is a bit odd. The 'note' has its own pen but I sometimes find it difficult to control it for small parts.

Robin and Doodles

A robin created on a tablet, a Samsung galaxy note, with a photograph for a background.

Two pages from sketchbook 26, I used promarker pens for the one above and brusho inks and pen for the picture below. I also textured the page with newspaper.

Bird and Tiger

Two more pictures I did on my Galaxy Note. The background on the top picture was originally a photo of some dyed lace [altered] and I drew the bird with the 'note' pen.
Below - The tiger head was copied from a photo, the body and background I made up [bet you can tell!]

Photos of Molly in the snow taken at Waldridge Fell by my son.
I've altered them on my Galaxy Note and I used 'pixir-o-matic' to do it.

Robins

Two more digital collages created on my galaxy note.
I think I created the background from an image of a sea plant although it doesn't look anything like it now. I used photos of robins for guidance when drawing the birds. The butterflies are from my stash of entomology images from the Naturalists Library.

Altered Photos

Two more pictures which I created on the Galaxy note using photoshop touch. The background on the one above was originally a blue fabric and the creatures were made by altering a photograph.
The flowers below was originally a photo of something found in the sea too but after I altered them I thought they made nice flowers. The background I created separately.

Grotesque

I created this one on my Galaxy note. I started with a photo of a grotesque that I took in my friends garden, the original is shown below. I traced around it with the pen, but it is quite tricky to get an accurate line [or I need more practice]. I think I used an oil paint filter on it with extra alterations on top.
