While we're talking about gifted Australians flying the flag - Check out the trailer for the sci-fi/action movie ‘Lockout’, which stars Guy Pearce as a condemned man sent to rescue the president’s daughter from an overrun space prison.

 Guy stars in the film as a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy and espionage, who is offered his freedom in exchange for a big task: break into an orbital prison that has been overrun by inmates, in order to rescue the president’s daughter (Maggie Grace) sounds like a good old school action movie to me..

GUY WON!!!

Guy Pearce has taken home gold for Australia at the 2011 Emmy Awards.

Winning the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a TV Movie/Mini-Series for his role in Mildred Pierce, Guy brought some Aussie humour to the ceremony with his acceptance speech.

"I got to have sex with Kate Winslet many many times ... thank you for letting me insert myself into your world of Mildred Pierce," he said.

Congrats Guy!

Emmy Nominations were announced today, hosted by our good friend Melissa McCarthy, who seems to be everywhere since her hilarious turn in BRIDESMAIDS. No real surprises, except perhaps for the fact that SONS OF ANARCHY got no Emmy love. Seriously people????

anyway, most excitingly, Guy Pearce was nominated for his acting in Mildred Pierce. Here is who he is up against!!

I grew up on the mini-series. Think 'All the Rivers Run', 'Anzacs', Vietnam, A Town Like Alice and many more, so am in love with the idea of this. I think this looks ace. It's premiering in the US and Canada shortly, so hard to say when we shall see it donwunder! Will keep you posted.

Nice Guys

K and I had a discussion about bad boys today - you can imagine how that conversation went... lots of 'ooow I love bad boys' blah blah blah.
From there we moved on to discussing how in reality there are very few genuinely 'good guys'.  By this we mean men who we are pretty positive don't do the dirty on their wives or girlfriends - ever.  We could think of a lot who probably are 'good guys' but we could only come up with 4 living and one dead, truly good guys, who we had no doubts about what so ever.

(married to Deborah Lee Furness whom he openly adores.  She is older than he is but it makes no difference to Hugh)

(Married to Lucia, with his 4th child on the way - this couple is rock solid and cute as pie)

Zac Efron

(What other 21 year old is still dating the same girl he was at 16?  Not many in Hollywood, with the opportunities this boy has had.)

(Another lovely man who is still adoring his high school sweetheart - His marriage to Kate is one to envy)

Patrick Swayze

(Patrick and his best friend Lisa met when she was 15 and were married for 34 years - now that is inspirational)

So thank you to these stellar men who honour their wives and girlfriends and give us all hope that their breed will grow!

The sad side of this story is that we could only come up with this many - if you have anyone else you feel should go on this list please let us know.

The BAFTA's have been and gone and it was lovely to see a Melbourne boy doing the honours and presenting a category. I'm sure K will give us a rundown on the evening but I'm off to find my favourite dress of the night - I'll let you know.
