Green Lantern

I've gone a bit 'Fanboy' about the upcoming Green Lantern and can barely wait until it is released here.  X-Men kept me happy for a while but when it all boils down to it I am definitely a D.C.Comics  girl as opposed to a Marvel girl. 
Anyway - while I wait not so patiently here is a clip of Ryan Reynolds trying to work out how to use the lantern...

GREEN LANTERN - Trailer

I am sooo going to see this!  I for one think this casting is perfect and as an added bunus to Ryan we also get Blake Lively.

For those of you who aren't Green Lantern fans - here is the back story...
There have been many incarnations of D.C. Comic's Green Lantern over the years but the in the late 1950s they revived the Green Lantern character, this time as test pilot Hal Jordan, who became a founding member of the Justice League of America.  This is the Green Lantern that the film deals with.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

If not, you must. What a seriously great film this is.

Written, directed and starred in by Ben Affleck. After watching this, you will forget about Pearl harbour, you will forget about Jenny from the Block, and you will forget about Gigli, Ben Affleck is back and deserves some serious film making recognition for THE TOWN.

The story is essentially a crime thriller, but its got heart and emotion and it takes you on a ride. I had heard it compared to HEAT, which is one of the best of this genre, and whoever compared the two, was right. This is a great film indeed. The story of four 'friends' who rob banks together, the FBI agent who is chasing them, and the girl who gets in the way!

You may have worked out, from previous reviews, but I am all about casting, and this is casting brilliance. Firstly and most importantly, cast yourself in a film you know will be great, good one Ben. Next, one of my girl crushes, Rebecca hall. I love this chick, she is beautiful and talented and I hope to see all future films starring her (if you are not familiar watch Vicky Cristina Barcelona or Frost Nixon). Jeremy Renner, who only popped up on my radar after seeing him in The Hurt Locker continues to impress as the bad ass bank robber. Even Blake Lively, is perfect in her role as a druggy, single mother. And Jon Hamm, as the relentless FBI Agent is sublime, I think the world maybe needs more Jon Hamm!

The whole bank robbing story is clearly not a new one, but THE TOWN makes it feel fresh. I left this film not wanting it to end, that doesn't happen very often.

Don't listen. It's so not true!

Remember he was spotted doing Disneyland with Kat Denning, and that turned out to be nothing!!!

The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee

Sorry to dump another trailer on you so soon but I couldn't resist sharing this one with you in case you hadn't come accross it. It is a low budget indie flick but there is absolutely nothing low budget about the cast of this gem. Robin Wright Penn, Alan Arkin, Keanu Reeves, Maria Bello, Blake Lively, Wynona Ryder (yes really) Julianne Moore. They'd have to try pretty damn hard to make a mess of this one. The trailer looks fantastic and I can't wait to see it.

Blake Lively is certainly Blake Lovely in this shot taken at the CFDA Fashion Awards after her two Teen Choice Award nominations were announced. Blake is up for Choice TV Actress and Choice Female Hottie (for her portrayal of Serena Van Der Woodsen in Gossip Girl - for those who have been living on another planet.)

I was so excited last week when K. posted two of my favourites sharing the same air - Kristen Bell and Zac Efron. Imagine my surprise and excitment when 2 of my favourite worlds collided yet again and were captured on film....

Rory from Gilmore Girls dining with Serena from Gossip Girl and Joan of Arcadia!! Only one missing was Ugly Betty and the Travelling Pants team would have been complete. I'm so glad the girls hang out - I want to go too!!!

(By the way Alexis' (Rory) ex - Milo (Jess) was at a function with Penn Badgley (Dan) who met up with the girls later for dinner.)
