Natina Reed, the sassy and cute as pie Clover cheerleader from Bring It On tragically passed away yesterday when hit by a car while crossing the road. Natina was also a founding member of the girl group Blaque. She was only 32 years old.
To celebrate Natina's life let's have a look at one of my favourite scenes from Bring It On featuring the Clover's cheer-off with the rival Toros. Natina is in the black top and army pants.

Struck By Lightning
Too many good things to say about this movie, produced, written and starring Chris Colfer - I'm already reciting lines and I've only seen the trailer. Nice work Chris! As usual Alison Janney is frick'n hilarious and me thinks there may even be some teary moments. Did anyone catch The Mulroney? Just one more big tick for S by L.

It's Pink!
Congrats to Justin and Jessica - and congrats on the bold move of wearing a pink concoction. Looking forward to seeing more images to make my final verdict but I'm liking it at the moment. And who doesn't love pink?

Nice Work Mel!
We adore Melissa Joan Hart at our place. There is always one of her shows on rotation, be it 'Clarissa Explains It All,' 'Sabrina' or my new favourite - 'Melissa and Joey'. I've watched this season in awe as MJ manages to partially hide her pregnancy while maintaining her sassy, single character Mel.
We now have proof positive that there was indeed a bub in there with the first official photo of her third boy, Tucker. Melissa, along with hubby Mark Wilkerson and their sons Mason, 6, Brady, 4, and Tucker, 1 month, posed at their Westport home recently.
Nice work Mel - I'm assuming this won't be her last either as she is the eldest of 8 siblings and seems to thrive on motherhood.

Saturday Night DJ - red bull beat suite
If you missed out on Red Bull Beat Suite earlier this year (rocking gig starring 6 beat makers, the string section of the youth orchestra, laid 6 and Aloe Blacc playing at the Recital Centre in Melbourne), check out two of the tracks that were laid down by crooner Aloe Blacc and Kiwi Ladi6. Red Bull Beat Suite saw two worlds coming together with 5 beatmakers, a 15-piece orchestra at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Ladi ^ has a new album out now "Time is not Much' and is touring in November.
A little more Ladi 6......

At Any Price - More Zac (on his special day)
There have been fantastic reviews coming out of the Venice Film Festival about Zac's other new film - At Any Price.
This accomplished, well-acted film is an engrossingly serious-minded heartland drama, rich in moral ambiguity, that examines the challenging relationship of fathers and sons in the difficult terrain of modern commercial farming.
This is great news for Zac - being able to back up the critical acclaim he has received from The Paperboy with another stand-out acting performance.
Standout performances from Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron and an intelligent script distinguish this drama from writer-director Ramin Bahrani.

Brad's Ad
It can't just be us! Does anyone else find this ad a tad embarassing?
Backstage with Zac
"I'm proud to say I was courageous enough to step into a part I didn't fully understand and followed my director blindly." Zac Efron
Backstage Magazine have a wonderful interview with Zac where he talks about his decisions and the roles he is being offered. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there will be any more musicals or Rom Coms but we can live in hope.
Check out the full interview for Backstage Magazine here.

Le Miserables
There are so many reasons we are looking forward to Boxing Day and the arrival on our screens of Le Miserables. 2 of the leads are being played by Aussie men which is always a good thing and the by all accounts Anne Hathaway's performance as Fantine is flawless.
Le Mis is the longest running musical in the history of London’s West End, having played continuously since October 1985. the film is being directed by Tom Hooper, who won an Oscar this year for The King's Speech.
In a musical first, Hooper made the courageous decision to record all vocals live, instead of using the standard, safe option of pre-recording and having his actors mime. The actors, including Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, used hidden earpieces to the accompaniment of a live pianist, allowing them to set their own tempo and act while they sang.
"Singing live," says Crowe, "there is an emotional level to this that just can’t be created in the studio."
(Thanks to Herald Sun)
Hugh Jackman recalled one of the first scenes he shot high in mountains in the South of France.
"It was below zero, it was very windy, singing live, you can see the steam, you can hear the cold in my voice," he said. "I was literally freezing. To be doing that miming that is a whole different thing. It feels immediate. It feels real and I think that was a great decision."
One look at the trailer will convince you that this decision has lifted this film to emotional heights it would not have attained otherwise...

The Prince And Me 4
Just when you thought it was safe - they went and did another one! How on earth did they think they could string this franchise out any further?
Apparently they could - and they have
We absolutely adored The Prince and Me starring Julia Stiles and Luke Mably, based loosely on the real life love story of our very own Princess Mary and Prince Frederick of Denmark. The leads were fabulously watchable and the story had all the ingredients to make the perfect Rom Com.
Then came The Prince and Me 2..... Julia Stiles was smart enough to jump ship but unfortunately for Luke Mably he was contracted to complete the second movie and it is worth watching this appalling film just to watch Luke grit his teeth and unhappily endure the experience. The poor bastard is clearly aware how bad this film is - don't worry Luke we love you even more for surviving the experience.
Then shock of shocks they released The Prince and Me 3 - how they had the balls to give it another go I don't know but this time even Luke escaped and the hapless Kam Heskin got a new Prince, Chris Geere, who has as much personality as a ham.
The characters are now King and Queen so even the title is obsolete, let alone the movie franchise.
Which brings us to number 4.

Chris and Kam are back as the King and Queen of Denmark (Mary must be wincing in pain) and this time they are off to warmer climes for some royal shanannigans. There are large chunks of this story line which seems to borrow heavily from the wonderful 'The King and I' but then again I am yet to see the whole film so I will reserve judgement.
I can feel an hilarious Prince and Me Marathon on the horizon for the Stars Hollow team. Want to come?
I'm now off to see if this experience completely derailed Luke Mably's career...stay tuned.

More Teen Films.....
Following the theme of teen movies there is another Teen Comedy also due out this month just in time for Halloween. FUN SIZE. The reason this one caught my eye is because it is Josh Shwartz' (The O.C., Gossip Girl, Chuck) directorial debut. It also stars Victoria Justice and Suburgatory’s Jane Levy stars as April, the outspoken and witty best friend Here is a run down.....
Wren (Victoria Justice) is invited to a Halloween party by her crush, Aaron Riley (Thomas McDonell), but she is also forced by her mother (Chelsea Handler) to take her oddball little brother Albert with her when she goes out trick-or-treating on Halloween. When she goes to the party instead, she loses him and must find him before her mother finds out. So she ends up borrowing a car from some boys and they team up to find Wren's brother. They end up going through a lot of trouble to find him and go through some crazy shenanigans.
The First Time
There is nothing I love more than a romantic teen comedy. I'm a sucker for this genre having been brought up on a steady diet of 80's RTC - the era which really did it best...think Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Say Anything, The Sure Thing etc.
There is a new RTC on the horizon and the more I looked in to it the more excited I got.
THE FIRST TIME stars two actors that I adore. Miss Britt Robertson (Life Unexpected, Secret Circle) and the amazing Mr Dylan O'Brien who blew me away in Teen Wolf as a first time actor. For those of you over the age of 20 think Pacey Witter from Dawson's Creek and you'll get a fair idea of Dylan's charms.
THE FIRST TIME is released this month and centers on the first weekend of a fledgling romance between two high school kids. Check out the trailer and see what you think. I'm completely sold already. It is directed by Jon Kasdan who's first film - In the Land Of Woman - is a favourite of mine.
(Oh and Victoria Justice is in it playing the dream girl and I'm a closet 'Victorious' fan so it just gets better and better. Keep an eye out also for 'Marcia Brady'!)

Jen's Ring - but that's not all...
There has been a lot of talk about the GINORMOUS size of Jen Aniston's engagement ring but there is something else that is pleasing me in these snaps. Can you tell what it is?
Forget the bling - have a look at her bag strap! That's right, that right there is an alligator clip. I am doing heel clicks because I often get teased about the alligator clip attached to my blazer lapel/bag strap/sleeve cuff. NOT ANY MORE. If it's ok for Jen, it's ok for me.

A Perfect Moment
Two days ago a magical thing happened for fans of the fabulous 80’s film, Say Anything. As
Peter Gabriel struck up the chords to his hit “In Your Eyes,” the
film’s star, John Cusack, came on stage to recreate one of the most
famous scenes in movie history.
The movie scene involves John holding a boom box over his head to blast Gabriel’s song, and so, at the show, John ran on stage to present Gabriel with an identical boom box.
Say Anything’s director Cameron Crowe was in attendance at the show and afterwards tweeted “Peter Gabriel and John Cusack on stage together at the Hollywood Bowl tonight. Won't forget that... ever.”

Nicole as Grace
The first pic released from Nicole's new film - 'Grace of Monaco'
Many critics have denounced the choice of Nicole for the role of Grace Kelly, declaring she doesn’t bear a resemblance to Grace but in this shot Nicole is clearly channelling some Princess of Monaco vibes. I think she looks lovely but I am surprised at the choice of gown as Grace was strictly and pastels and white gloves kind a gal.
The film is not a biopic of the actress turned Princess of Monaco but will focus on her involvement behind the scenes in a tête-à -tête between her husband Prince Rainier III and President of France Charles de Gaulle over Monaco’s tax haven status during the early 1960s. sounds interesting and it will be definitely worth seeing what Nicole does with the role.
