Monochrome Book WIP

This collection of tiny pages is for my latest mixed media art book. The colour? as you can see is monochrome and the size of the work was inspired by a project by Jane Davies. It is a 4"x 4" x 400 project and you can read more about it on her blog here.

I have already made up the book, the page above on the left was not included as the background is felt rather than paper  - it wouldn't behave when I was sewing the book together.
More pages to follow and of course the finished book when I've taken photos of it.

Cat and Birds Tablet Art

I worked these two digital collages on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. and used the same background for both pictures. I've also done a repeating fabric design [on the regular computer] using the background too which I'll show at a later date.
It is the same bird repeated and one of the cat's eyes is a bit odd. The 'note' has its own pen but I sometimes find it difficult to control it for small parts.

Six pages from Sketchbook 26 [Brusho]

Quick doodles and paintings from my sketchbook. I used Brusho colours for these - if you have not used Brusho's they come in powder form and are mixed with water. A little goes a long way but they do stain and being the messy person that I am, I usually have dirty fingers for a few hours. I make up little bottles ready to use, I find I don't make quite as much mess that way.

also pen and a collaged ticket

also an orange biro - cheers!

a biscuit cutter for the shape and wax crayon

I painted the flowers separately and collaged them on the background.  also used a pen, wax crayon and textured on the background and promarkers on the flowers.

TAST 59 and 60

Take a Stitch Tuesday - 59 - Breton stitch.
I used a hand painted/stamped fabric for the background and I stitched over the ric rac ribbon like couching.  I decided to do the stitch in a meandering kind of way like the ribbon.
Take a Stitch Tuesday - 60 - Diamond stitch.
I used a hand painted/stamped fabric for the background and layered painted laces. The pearl thread normally looks quite thick but it looks thin here. I attached flower sequins and beads too.

Robin and Doodles

A robin created on a tablet, a Samsung galaxy note, with a photograph for a background.

Two pages from sketchbook 26, I used promarker pens for the one above and brusho inks and pen for the picture below. I also textured the page with newspaper.

Little Drawers

I've probably mentioned before that I like little drawers so I thought I would show you these. I've had them a few years now, and although they are not the best quality I like them and they are very useful too.
My machine embroidery threads are kept in some of the drawers.

And beading threads in another.

The larger drawers at the bottom look untidy so I didn't take photos of them, but they are full of beads, jewellery and trinkets.

TAST 58, Painted Fabrics

Take a Stitch Tuesday - week 58 - I'm a bit behind, this stitch is from a few weeks ago. The stitch is woven detached chain stitch and my sample includes back stitch and beads. Click on the image to enlarge.
The background is fabric I had painted and stamped on using mainly hand made stamps and roller stamps. I did a few other fabrics and lace too, they are for a new book of pastel colours [some are bright pastel?!]

Sketchbook Shelves and Kokeshi Cushion

I changed a little space in my work room to add a couple of shelves for some of my smaller sketchbooks handmade books and altered books.

I made another cushion with the other fat quarter of my Spoonflower fabric featuring kokeshi dolls. This one is a different pattern but has the same dolls featured on it. The last one was quilted but I left this one as it was. Could do with a bigger cushion pad though.

Heart and Wedding

I've been away for a few days in case you had not noticed.
Firstly I went to the wedding of my nephew Carl and his now wife, Jen at Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I made the heart as a keepsake, [the WIP last week] first I stencilled with a doily, then embroidered and beaded on one side, stitched together and stuffed. I thought I would leave the back with just the stencilling.

I'll not show pictures of people at the wedding but I took a picture of the view through the window while we were waiting for the bride.

Back of chair decoration.

Lovely grounds, a half frozen pond, there were ducks in the unfrozen parts. We had a little snow, some fell to earth as the wedding photos were being taken - looked like confetti.
